im guessing ur not suppose to do an oil change to ur cars??? my CR-Z is 124hp after oilchange... FML... my Mazda FC is 207hp after oilchange... FML... wt to do? buy the cars again? FMLLLLLLL

What settings did you use?

I'm not near my game now, but I used a fully customized tranny @ roughly 155 mph, and racing flywheel, twin clutch, carbon shaft.

I always made ground on the straight and first turn, and made sure to late bake on most of the turns. I was in 2nd place by lap 4.

I am completly stuck on the last challenge, I cannot get anywere near 3rd, always getting 4th.

It took me a few attempts, and I was a bit embarrassed that I used so many mods, but I got it in the end.

As above, the target total time is about 6 minutes 40 seconds. I did it with a 1:22.2 first lap, then all you need to do is average 1:20.2s to win!
Therein lies the key: try to get a 1:20.1xx each lap, rather than try to go all-out every lap; that way, you're less likely to mess up! If you can get your first lap down closer to 1:21, you'll be singing! Late braking is important, but don't be afraid to lift off to get the turn in for some corners (e.g. Dunlop; last one is 70 mph after the curb, so you need to scrub it down)
I did it without ABS (5/3 bias) so it was a bit hairy into the first corner, and probably why my absolute pace wasn't great. I managed to pass the A2 into the hairpin on the last lap, braking late from a long way back! :p

I did:
Windows
Air filter
5-speed crossed-ratio box
Sports clutch and flywheel (G25 user here, so I can "force" the shifts...)
height adjustable sports suspension (made the biggest difference)
Wheels (lookin' pimp!)
Rear wing.

Aero was set to 5; made the car understeer at speed, so I adjusted the suspension to suit. It's probably not at all necessary.

Suspension settings were mild:
  • Front ride height was minimum, rear was 5 millimetres higher (for better turn-in against the aero)
  • Left rear spring rates as they were, but dropped the fronts a touch for better weight transfer and front-end grip (no ABS, remember?)
  • Dampers left as they were.
  • Camber should be no more than 1 - 1.5 degrees (absolute maximum) or you'll ruin the braking (rears are less consequential here)
I'm tempted to go back and try it stock, I think it's possible...

You can win the CR-Z one with it stock, and even allowing time to recharge the battery on the way around (lift-off instead of brake into 2nd corner, 3rd-long, 4th, 6th-bottom-of-the-hill, others if you can spare the time.)

RX7 is easily done stock, just be smooth.

The Challenger one is made much easier by buying the fully-custom trans and setting the top speed to at least 155. I also bought the sports suspension and an LSD (on mild settings) because that car's undercarriage is a travesty, and I was tired of trying to wrestle it's tall and bloated hulk around on the stock chassis.

My R32 is useless for the last one; I shall return at a later time and have another crack!

Oh yeah, DO NOT CHANGE THE OIL! :sly:

I did the GT-R one, got first in 4 tries after just full-tune blasting a SpecV. Spent the money on a sweet 500, and then figured out I shouldn't of tuned it.

Finally golded the FIAT race.

The advice found in this thread is good. I was always slow on my first lap, 1:21+, but after that, it was pretty consistent 1:20's.

The very first corner on the very first lap was where I had my issues.

I just could not get a good braking reference. That same turn, on all the other laps was just fine for some reason. Wierd. But, I finally figured it out.

Like alot of people, I used.

Air filter
Window weight reduction
Fully Custom Suspension
Fully Custom Transmission
Max Drive train (flywheel, clutch, etc...)

I tried for the longest time with the Car lowered (-15) and really stiff, but I couldn't get any speed out of the turns.

So, I changed the height back to 0, and softened up the spring rate and dampeners, and the roll bars quite a bit. That seemed to make the most difference, for me, and I was able to get what seemed to be a lot more speed coming out of the corners.

I didn't touch the camber, or the toe.

Have to admit. That was a lot of fun... challenging and frustrating at times, but fun. I'll do the others tomorrow.

..........
I'm going to go back and do the 500 and CR-Z events again, since I only got 2nd. I hated running out of battery power in the CR-Z. :grumpy: I bet PD planned that, since you could stay on the throttle so much in a car like the CR-Z on a course like Tokyo R246.

This one is pissing me off. I keep running out of battery power once I get to 2nd place and the leader just takes off. This sucks. How the hell do you prevent this?

theorically when you lift off the accell your battery recharges a little, I do that, but then i go too slow. I wonder where is the trick here.

Indy challenge was reasonably easy once you fit tyres, custom gearbox and anti-roll bars.
250,000 cr too.

You can buy an sports air filter on a new one, might help

u can let off ur gas after the start finish line starting from lap 2... then tap the brake a few time on turn 1, let off on turn 2, turn 3 the big U, then let off on the 100m on turn 4, then when u are turning right downward on turn 5 u let off and turn left up hill and tap the gas a few times, then downshift to 4th gear, and gas ur way, and when ur going downhill again just let off to the final turn in 2-3rd gear and u'll be fine...

i passed the 1st place guy in the beginning of lap 5.. these event are pretty ez

only thing that piss me off is that i did oil change on my CRZ and FC... therefore i needa buy them again....

yea my paint skills sucks. and what. :) it works!

I seem to be incapable of Golding any of these events. Though I managed to Gold the Challenger event, I had to cheat to do it and even then I barely passed the Chevelle during the last corner.

Not only that, but I bought ever upgrade that it lets me for each car needed and still I can only get Silver. This is a shot to my driving ego. Lol.

Thank youso much for the map. It's really nice. Unfortunately now i don't run out of battery anymore, but I can't seem to be fast enough to win. This event sure needs a quite extreme balance between economy and speed to gold.
I wonder if someone can pull out some nice suspension/LSD/brakes setting to improve our chances?

Thanks for the help, I understand the concept (lift instead of braking so the battery regenerates) but the whole lifting off on the front straight doesn't work for me, when i do that I am getting passed by the cars I had just passed, and the leaders time distance is increasing! I am usually not passing the CR-Z till I almost hit the downhill because I am so backed off everything. (car is dead stock BTW)

Are these races against the other online users? I'm yet to turn my
ps3 on to see this update

Am I the only one that raced the CR-Z like a normal car and had no problems whatsoever?

What GT-Rs are you guys using?

im struggling with my r32... 487hp at 1240kg fully tuned and i cant catch 2nd place.

I got 2nd with my r32

490hp and 1245kg

Same here. I was in the lead by lap 3. Very easy race for me.

No. At the time of doing the event, I had no idea what the strange thing in the bottom left corner. Reading these posts I now realize its your battery power. Had no problems doing the event without knowing.

The Fiat 500 race was relatively simple. Using a stock car I passed the last AI coming out of turn two on lap 5 and sailed away to win by 4-5 seconds. The key is to not overdrive the car. Brake early for the three hairpins and keep it smooth on exit, unwinding the steering wheel slowly while accelerating. Turn 3 is flat and the last turn requires minimal braking and slowly drifting to the outside. I believe you should be going 67-68mph when you reach the outside rumble strips.

Challenger was on stilts. I had to concentrate the whole time and restrain myself from going onto the throttle too early. You need a racing transmission for that one to raise the top speed to 162mph. I also bought a sports suspension and some drivetrain parts as well, but you really don't need those. Some careful driving will get you first place relatively easily.

Had fun and got gold in all the events first go - thanks for the tips guys

My update took ages so I only managed to try out the first 2 events. Had a couple goes at the Fiat event and managed 2nd 0.8s behind the leader. I think I'll try some adjustable suspension and/or the full customize transmission. Right now it's going good with the fixed hight suspension and close ratio trans but I need that extra bit to get through.

The CR-Z event was quite easy. I got gold on my second try since I spent most of my first try bumping the walls. I didn't realize that car understeers so badly.

Definitely a good update. :dopey:

I just started running Tsukuba Circuit in the Seasonal Events with the Fiat 500. The best I can place so far is 2nd.

It was easy for my I just rolled down my window and launched a potato at the Audi A2 that was in the lead, it smashed his windscreen he spun out and I took the prize

I'm having trouble with the Fiat 500 race as well. I can place second easily, but I'm still 10 seconds behind first... why such a huge gap?

Where is the fun in these? I can only get second in the fiat event 3.7 seconds behind the leader and thats pushing the little fiat to the limit. I even did the window weight mod to get it down to the bare minimum 1000kg. These are just like the licence tests where the only way to win is to drive in a way that would get you killed/black flagged in real life. These events are just stressful, there is setting a challenge and then there is just being stupid.

You guys are unbeleivable, rolling start in last place with the cars stretched out in single file and I'm supposed to be thankful for the challenge? I want fun. Its a VIDEO GAME.

Then go back to NFS

If you come up with a way to find those 10 seconds let me know. heh

Seriously. Someone is holding back on telling us their setup with this thing. I'm pushing this dumb Fiat to it's limit, it just won't give any more and I'm nowhere near first. I've golded every event but this one.

Nah seriously what I done was I made sure every lap time was either a 1.19-1.20 and and at the corner before the long straight I didn't brake I just went on the grass and knocked the Audi a2 into the wall and took gold

I changed the wheels installed aero kit
Window weight reduction
sports air filter
flywheel / clutch upgrade
sports suspension
close ratio 5 speed trans

I set down force to 5 in the back.

All aids off cept abs at 1.

It just takes practice to drive the car "quickly". You need to be getting 1:20.2 laps at most (after the first one) to have a shot at winning. This is easily doable since i was getting laps in the high 1:19s

Boy all this time I thought I was a pretty good driver! I don't know how you guys do the Fiat challenge. I followed all the advice thus far and the closest I can get is about 4.5 sec back. :yuck:

I used the setup Evo listed in this post: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=147036&page=6#post4374888

still took me a whole lot of tries. It's very hard not to bleed speed through the three hairpins. My first lap was in the mid 21's, then had a lap on the 19's and all the others in the 20's. Basically, as grim as it sounds, if you don't come out of a turn faster than the car in front of you, you screwed up that turn, and that'll probably cost you the race.

(I'm pretty sure there's also a chance to cut the last hairpin if really needed, didn't try, but there's a ton of space to cut there).

Now I'm stuck on that damn CR-z. I thought I adapted to the new wheel pretty well, but this series of challenges is showing me that I still have a long way to go :D
