All the more reasons and examples why PD should have never abandoned the Aspec point system in GT4.

It would have totally eliminated all of this insanity.

Properly applied the player is left to make the decision of more challenge or less.

The events however need to be playable for a much longer period of time since the combinations of cars, perf parts, and setups are wide open.

In case you haven't surmised, GT5 is a graphical 200 car and scenery display, with wheel and pedal physics. Add online and thats about it.

It appears now they are attempting to broaden content and appeal with seasonal events which only further reflect the cumbersome nature of the game.

Saying that the seasonal events are "ruined" is just ridiculous. Who's to say the next set of events won't have restrictions on them again?? How about we wait and see before just assuming that restrictions have been permanently removed...

I think they should've just included an option to turn restrictions on or off

They basically did, it's called yourself.

People, stop whining about the lack of restrictions. If you can't choose not to tune your cars all to hell and win these races easily, then you have nothing to complain about. Get over it, it's your fault and not the game's fault because it gave you the option to make it challenging and you passed it up.

That's like saying you didn't want to be fat, and it wasn't your fault that you ate 10 lbs of candy just because it was offered for free. You did this to yourselves.

Maybe they should also take out all the restrictions on everything including licences and the cars to use, so everyone can play it how they want like most people here are saying.

They are really easy with a controller. In fact you could have one arm around your girlfriend, smoke something, have a gin & tonic in the other hand... and still struggle to come 2nd.

That is a good point. 👍

I just hope that having these 'open-ended' events are just part of a mix that we will be getting going forwards and why, in this instance, I am not screaming from the rooftops.

Speak for yourself bro, I got all silvers and one gold in the first set, came in 6th in the second series with the RX7, laughed at the idea of a nascar on the ring and didn't try the rest because I didnt feel like doing slow boring laps in the other races to come in no less than third. I'm laying this game to drive fast cars and I need money to buy them, I am not playing for some internet bragging rights about my hardcoreness of GT5. Last GT game I played was 3, and I remember racing championships over again just to sell the prize car for big money to buy more cars.

Im cool with that.

Still not getting it... if all you are doing is playing the game for fun, why does it MATTER that you win at all? Why does it matter that some tests are too hard for you to complete?

It seems, after all, that some things DO matter... Of course, it also appears that ONLY what YOU care about is what SHOULD matter!

The very same people that care so MUCH about winning that they are willing to exploit any retarded fault the game has to ensure it seem to be the same ones that don't want anyone else to care about ANYTHING.

Just out of curiosity, do you go the the COD forum, and complain that you don't get every weapon in the arsenal immediately at the start of the game, or don't have invulnerability, because it's just so HARD to win every time? Got a feeling that that attitude would get a frostier reaction than you do here. This IS the GT5 hangout. Are you so surprised that whining about how the game should be easier for you, even at the expense of making it easy for those who LIKE the game to present a challenge, isn't always a big hit?

REALLY..?

Try going to a soccer forum, and trying to persuade them that penalty kicks should have no goalie to defend, because YOU can't always score a goal. See where that gets you.

No I don't understand why people are disappointed because we can just continue as we did before. The bar (as it used to be) is racing without adding parts, with the standard tires. That's still equally possible as before.

Try doing the Ford GT race that way. I did. I came dead last. Obviously, I could have done better, but could I have come first? I don't know. That is the problem. Many of the other events required some tuning. How do I know that tuning isn't needed for the Ford GT race? I really don't get why you don't understand this.

ANd another one..
How can give the TTS less power? Or should I buy the worse tyres like comfort medium or hard?

I am referring to the latest Seasonal Events #3. Try one; buy a stock car (you do not even need to tune it) add Racing tyres (soft if you must), and see what happens.

I think the best way is to at least put a difficulty on it and if PD is doing this to help those casual players, well its not working!

There's not even a reason for them casuals to improve their driving..:ouch:

No one is going Pro by racing this game. If you are, you should be a real track or using this game to remember a course. I think I am a semi-hardcore GT fan. Been with the series since the first installment. Some restrictions are just too much for some. I am glad that others can now enjoy these races.

The S / IA license test are exactly that: A test. Although I have passed them, they are difficult at the same time. I haven't put tons of effort into golding them but I may be able to manage getting better than all bronze one day. Do I want them to make these easier. No. Some parts of the game needs to be difficult. Seasonal events are optional and not a part of your overall completion. Same goes for the Special Events. The higher level are very difficult for me. I can except not golding some races but at the same time, after 300 times of trying races, people give up. When people give up, PD fails. Sony fails. Which means no one plays their game. Not good for future releases. What they make now, will fund future games. They have to capitalize on everything. Especially with the other racing games emerging which are geared toward casuals. They can't exactly balance the game out to please everyone but we can. Use your own restrictions.

Agreed...

I mean, I have no problem with just being able to buy upgrades and power my way through the races, but when they were offering like 1 million and credits in 100k in experience, it was a lot better to feel like they were earned.

I hadn't even gotten gold on all of the Week 1 and 2 events, but have Bonus Race No. 3 done in like 45 minutes.

A lot of the money is in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. I was able to get mostly silver and some gold in the Bonus Race #1 but it wasn't easy. Some may be struggling and unable to get a good chunk of the money.

I hope this is just a seasonal event for the casual player and they continue with restrictions in future events.

One thing that PD does poorly is look at what other games have done and then incorporate the good things.

In Forza you get more points in a race the fewer restrictions you use. GT5 could have incorporated that and expanded it such that the weaker your car the more money you make.

You named one car. And yes, buying less effective tires to increase the difficulty is another option you have in this game, especially when the ones you mention come very cheaply. What, you can't afford the less than 10k in credits it will take to increase the difficulty you're whining about so that you can enjoy the game on a difficulty level you think it needs?

I speak the truth, I know it hurts, but you'll be okay, or maybe you'll all continue to whine. You can make this game as easy or as difficult as you want. It's up to you.

IMO, you people will never be happy regardless, but at least you have somewhere to talk about it.

Hi apple this is orange. You really are mad bro, its okay man you can still play GT5 they way you want to, if I bring a Veyron to the hatch race its okay it wont affect your game in anyway, trust me. Personally I could care less if the game is hard or easy, TC started a thread about the precious GT5 seasonal events being ruined, me I could care less. When I get home from work I am going to blast through all of the events to stack some money and xp and think about how it grinds some of you around here.

Please get a better analogy than COD cause its not working.

Calm down man it's just a game, the events last just a week. Who knows maybe they will change it back to the restricted events.

If you want to challenge yourself then take a low powered car and think of it as restricted event.. jeez.

No, tuning wasn't necessary before. People managed to get gold without it on every other event.

I have one gold on all these seasonal events (fiat 500) and I decided for myself I'm not tuning or adding parts to get gold on the others. I'm still not going to do it.

What if the restrictions were enforced only for the online rankings? Winner or Top 10 in the rankings could get an early release of an upcoming soon to be released car.

Ruined? Did you ever thing maybe that they are switching things up this week?

Just finished all of the new races without changing anything but the tires and the odd spoiler for df here and there. Most races you can be in first by the 3rd lap. I crashed the ford gt trying to drift it twice, badly, and still won by a clear margin.

I am dissapoint.

Nobody forced you to add better tires, spoilers, or any other upgrades. Your problem, not the game's.

Chess, where all the pieces except the king are queens from the start isn't chess. Soccer without a goalie isn't soccer. And racing, where you can enter a Veyron against a Vitz isn't racing.

Do most of you go through life avoiding any challenge at all, because you MIGHT not win? I hope so. The rest of us can do with less competition...!

Instant gratification leads to no progress at all. PD, for the love of God! Just put a Save Game on the internet where everything is unlocked, everything is Golded, all the cars are bought, and every challenge beat. It's what these guys want...

The GT series didn't become the pre-eminent console racing game by making itself so easy a child of three could beat it. In fact, exactly the opposite. Don't listen to the AHDD crowd (and they certainly seem to be the vocal ones!). Don't dumb the game down to them. You don't need them. You didn't for GT4. GT3, etc.. There isn't a game forum on the internet where SOME whiners aren't complaining the game is TOO HARD (a-wah! a-wah! a-wah!). Most game makers pay them no attention. Show a little spine.

Its a bit late after you tried it the first time and won with stock tyres right?

Do i go back put hard comforts on, and just pretend the money is still up for grabs?

Hello All,

I am almost 40, I did play GT3,4 and 5. Maybe I am an exception, but I do agree with the post about seasonal events

See, I did finish first two with silver and bronze awards - and I was happy. Hapy that I achieve something. Sure, it would be nice to get gold - but with 2 kids, and no wheel, I was happy I got the second placed - and I felt like winner

Last night, in Citroen Challenge, when I can load my car with GP and destroy the race, yeah, I won..but The feeling was not there. The challenge was gone. And yes, you can argue I could use stock car with less HP - but if somebody give me chance to win easily, I will do it.

What I want to say is simple. Give an average driver chance to place. And give a good driver chance to win. Then everybody will be happy

What I feel a lot of people are missing is that part of a "game" is some structure and some goals to compete.

I am all about doing it how you want - rewind? Sure don't use it if you don't want to. Unlock all cars in arcade right off the bat? Why not...

But the structured progress is part of any good game, a lot of which was missing from GT as the Aspec races were pretty poor...

So taking that structure out isn't just a case of "do it how you want" it's a case of taking away the game.

This is one thing that I always find curious about the GT franchise and why its popular. Because it is structured like a "game", where you go in, you build experience, you progress through the defined path and you "complete" the game. Where as most of the "traditional" racing games are just that, racing. No rewards, no exp points, no level, no events. You just get cars, tracks, pick your difficulty level from AI, and practice, qualify and race. You can race a whole season if you want, or just individual races or race weekends. And thats how I play most of my "racing" games. If GT was kinda revolutionary was that it kinda brought a structure into it, for better or worse...

Its a bit late after you tried it the first time and won with stock tyres right?

In that case you just drove well enough.

Nobody forced you to add better tires, spoilers, or any other upgrades. Your problem, not the game's.

Ha, I'm going back and trying them on comfort hards right now. I would bet they are more of a challenge like the last set if you leave the ars completely stock.

Main reason I just did tires and spoilers was because I thought there would be hard races like last time and since there's no tuning limit I figured I could steadily increase the tune on cars until I could compete.

So for now easy money and some nice xp. No complaints as such, I just had slightly higher expectations as far as these races go.

Chess, where all the pieces except the king are queens from the start isn't chess. Soccer without a goalie isn't soccer. And racing, where you can enter a Veyron against a Vitz isn't racing.
These aren't exactly the right analogies. When I was young I used to go to the motocross every week with my dad. This is local stuff not the highest levels. But you know what I learned from those races? The people with the best toys win. You would watch the 80cc class where all should be equal but the kid who's dad owned a local honda shop had equipment that ran circles around the kids who's dads did their wrenching.

Bringing a bigger hammer is an age old part of racing. Regulations only spur new development. Watch F1 to see how each year new rules to improve racing are implemented and within several races someone has a new development that skirts the rules and makes them faster.

I understand your larger point you like a challenge but really you can create your own challenge but have lost the ability to measure your achievement online with the members of this forum.

Chess, where all the pieces except the king are queens from the start isn't chess. Soccer without a goalie isn't soccer. And racing, where you can enter a Veyron against a Vitz isn't racing.

But racing a car with the same difficulty as previous ones when not tuned is racing.

Instant gratification leads to no progress at all. PD, for the love of God! Just put a Save Game on the internet where everything is unlocked, everything is Golded, all the cars are bought, and every challenge beat. It's what these guys want...

Actually, I'd much prefer a save game with all the cars, but none of the challenges golded. I wouldn't use it, though, but I do like the idea of getting every car without grinding after golding everything i can.

I just completed 2 off them with a full stock car of the brand they want you to race, the lotus 111R, and the ford gt, with just oil refreshments.

With those cars set like that, you'll have an intense race to the finnish.

So i guess with these new ones it goes like that, if you want to have a big fight go with stock cars, if it's to hard tune them.

These are actually the best yet, nr. 3
Why? If you go with stock cars you'll have the same intense fights like last 2 events. But you can tune now if it's to hard.

First off I love the idea of seasonal events. It is a great platform to easily new content to the game every week FOR FREE!!. I didn't bother reading all 14 pages of replies. I stopped at around page 4. I think the passionate discourse on this thread just speaks to how much we all like this idea and how much we want it to be great.

Here is a simple solution. Make some events easy and some hard then rate them so we all know what to expect. Then let us advertise how many golds we got in expert events.

The great thing about this platform is that it can be tweaked and tuned as time goes on. I think many of the points everyone has made so far should be apparent to the developers by now. Even better, because of how flexible the system is the developers should be able to adjust it.

While I am totally on your side on this Destinkeys and agree with your points. I take a little offense as I am "the ADHD crowd" as you put it.
Oh and you don't have to be a kid to have ADHD I'm 35.:sly:
