Ruined? No. I love moar eventz!!!1

However, i preferred the challenge of the previous events. Why are all events now like this? Even the older ones allow upgrades? Looks like a mistake to me....

Anyone see the time trials? The rome one or whatever it is, says the wrong track name...

Still, racing trial mountain in reverse was nice. Gotta say that the prius race was the dullest thing ive ever done in this game, what a hateful, turgid abomination of a vehicle. Id have rather walked.

Yes, Trial Mountain in reverse is a whole new track, loved it. One of my favorites to begin with.

No, tuning wasn't necessary before. People managed to get gold without it on every other event.

You lost all credibility right there.

I'm disappointed they removed the restrictions. Mainly b/c that makes it just like the rest of GT5 (A spec that is) with no hp restrictions. I miss the game restrictions that were in place for GT4.

Instead of working on your driving lines and getting to know the tracks people just use horsepower as a bandaid for their lack of skill.

It's lame. 👎

That being said, I like spending as little money as possible for these challenges so I will try to beat them all with stock vehicles first (which is what I did for the bonus race 1 challenges anyway) and then slowly add modifications after I've deemed my best driving efforts not good enough.

In Forza you get more points in a race the fewer restrictions you use. GT5 could have incorporated that and expanded it such that the weaker your car the more money you make.

Well GT4 had this before Forza actually (Aspec Points). They just didn't carry it over to GT5

Optional restrictions in itself is sort of makes no sense. If its a restriction how is it optional :nervous: sort of like the option to restrict your car by not adding upgrades to it. Crazy ain't it.

It makes sense sort of an expert or novice mode. But I still think if anything give us a week with restrictions and a week without. Or even a money incentive to run with restrictions. There are many ways they can do it to make people happy. But PD fans will never all be happy if the posts on GTPLANET are any indication of the total fan base. I don't think it is though. Casual fans probably dont spend as much time in forums as the more serious ones do.

You lost all credibility right there.

Then do all the tuning you could do before. (no weight reduction and BHP increasing). This isn't so extremely difficult to figure out, now is it?

Incredibly sad oversight, on which I just posted a couple pages back.

We don't even know that this is permanent though, so let's not just go out and say it's ruined. They literally just added this feature into the game, let them mess with it some. I think the restrictions were a lot of fun and personally myself hope they don't keep it unrestricted, but try to have a different reaction than "OMFG PD JUST RUINED THE GAME"

Here is a simple solution. Make some events easy and some hard then rate them so we all know what to expect. Then let us advertise how many golds we got in expert events.

best comment I have seen across two forums so far. This combined with varied reward directly related to cars performance or alterations would be superb. This would give the people who found the last set of challenges hard a chance to win and then rerace the events removing tuned parts from the cars and improve their driving skills greatly.

Ruined?!?! lol No.

I think PD was just throwing some of the lesser skilled players a bone(Thank you PD!!!). Just because this past one was easy, doesn't mean the rest are going to be easy.

Jeez..Elitism. Much!

Its not eliteism. The only thing that seperates the seasonal events in racing from normal a spec events was the absolute difficulty level.

Now they are just as boring as the other a spec races because there is no challenge. So now they are just another event same as the rest, except they pay more. Wheras before they were the tough to test yourself against what PD could throw at us?

Its a bit extreme isnt it to go from such tight limits, to no limits at all?! They might have been set up a little bit too heavy handedly to begin with many people may feel. But then just relax this by 10% and make it still somewhat of a challenge but very easily doable by everyone anyway? Would that not have been a better evolution of the event?

Maybe a bit late to ask, but all the people that want no restrictions, and everything easy for the casual gamer...

Did you EVER play GT4, or 3? Or Shift, or Forza or any other racing game EVER? Because you must have HATED those... Did you ask for your money back? The nerve of those games, expecting you to have any restriction at ALL on what you could enter

It's a good job PD finally made a game so easy, you could win every time (as long as you don't count the license tests and Special events and the first set of seasonal events!) as no-one else ever has!

I hate to ask it, but can anyone recommend a GT5 forum site where it ISN'T dominated by people that have never played a game with any challenge in it, and never will? The poll results here show just how our membership here is balanced. Is there somewhere I can go where I don't have to listen to some ADHD self-entitled wannabe whine that the game ought to be so easy, he can do it passed out in his underwear?

You know, after playing Shift for a year, I bought into the hype. GT5 was where the REAL racing game fans go. Shift is where the arcade weenies play. I am afraid I am starting to find out the exact reverse is the truth. Shift has regulations and restrictions that would incense most of the posters on this thread. 'What?! I can't enter my Zonda in the race for 200hp cars? That's so lame, man...'

Sometimes I wish the internet were not so anonymous. If there were a field that told you the TRUE age of anyone posting, it would be SO much easier to ignore those posts mostly by ten year olds...💡

I didn't mind the restrictions on the past seasonal events, cause I liked the challenge. Im not that upset with the 3rd set not having restrictions, cause I'll still take the time to try it with a competitive car. That and Im sure we'll see more seasonal events with restrictions in the near future. PD never made a statement saying that all seasonal events from this point on will have no restrictions. But by the way half of you are going on about this, you would think otherwise...

fuuuuu.jpg

I havent got round to any of these things yet.
Are you guys saying stock vehicles dominate these challenges.

Im waiting for proper races not these start at the back half a lap behind nonsense. Don't get me wrong I'll rinse em for the money but I dont like the format of these so called races.

I am really bored at work today, so first, thanks for making my afternoon go by a little quicker.

Still not getting it... if all you are doing is playing the game for fun, why does it MATTER that you win at all? Why does it matter that some tests are too hard for you to complete?

I'm not trying to get to 100%, but I don't think that entire aspects of the game should be denied to a large number of players just so a few can feel elite.

It seems, after all, that some things DO matter

Yes, some things Do in fact matter. I paid just as much for this game as you, so why should I be denied tracks, features or cars? I have no problem working for them, I'll try the Vettel challenges, if that doesn't work then I'll b-spec my way to getting the X1.

The very same people that care so MUCH about winning that they are willing to exploit any retarded fault the game has to ensure it seem to be the same ones that don't want anyone else to care about ANYTHING.

I'm playing the game the way I want to, sorry if not playing YOUR way is considered exploiting it by you.

Just out of curiosity, do you go the the COD forum, and complain that you don't get every weapon in the arsenal immediately at the start of the game, or don't have invulnerability, because it's just so HARD to win every time? Got a feeling that that attitude would get a frostier reaction than you do here.

I only ever played COD 3. 1st person shooters actually give me motion sickness, so I don't play too many of those. I thought the single player mode was a bit short, but other than that it was an enjoyable game.

This IS the GT5 hangout. Are you so surprised that whining about how the game should be easier for you, even at the expense of making it easy for those who LIKE the game to present a challenge, isn't always a big hit?

No, i understand that forums tend to attract the better gamers who never think a game is hard enough and want to see it absolutely ruined for everyone but themselves and the few who are like them. that said there are also a lot of normal people on this forum who just want to play the game and enjoy ALL of it's features.

REALLY..?

Try going to a soccer forum, and trying to persuade them that penalty kicks should have no goalie to defend, because YOU can't always score a goal. See where that gets you.

Why on Earth would I do that? Look, play GT5 the way you want to play it. go to races with stock cars and what ever tires you like and challenge yourself, that's fine by me. Don't however try to force me to play the game the way you want it played. I don't doubt you're probably a much better player then I am (No that doesn't bother me). In fact, I'd be surprised if you weren't. That does not mean however mean that I or anyone else should be denied a feature of the game. Like I said before, I paid as much as you did for GT5, so I have every much a right to play it the way I want to, just as you have the right to play it the way you want to.

With all that said, I would be in a favor of an optional restrictions system. That way people like you could play in some sort of mode with "full restrictions" and be proud of yourselves for it, while people like me could still enjoy all the features, tracks, prize cars, whatever the game has to offer.

Chess, where all the pieces except the king are queens from the start isn't chess. Soccer without a goalie isn't soccer. And racing, where you can enter a Veyron against a Vitz isn't racing.

Do most of you go through life avoiding any challenge at all, because you MIGHT not win? I hope so. The rest of us can do with less competition...!

Instant gratification leads to no progress at all. PD, for the love of God! Just put a Save Game on the internet where everything is unlocked, everything is Golded, all the cars are bought, and every challenge beat. It's what these guys want...

The GT series didn't become the pre-eminent console racing game by making itself so easy a child of three could beat it. In fact, exactly the opposite. Don't listen to the AHDD crowd (and they certainly seem to be the vocal ones!). Don't dumb the game down to them. You don't need them. You didn't for GT4. GT3, etc.. There isn't a game forum on the internet where SOME whiners aren't complaining the game is TOO HARD (a-wah! a-wah! a-wah!). Most game makers pay them no attention. Show a little spine.

And for the most part GT is GT. There was no Seasonal in other GT. If you want to consider Missions, then yes. I couldn't get past number 14 or so. So I quit. The GT5 Seasonal races is one aspect of the game. Optional at that, a bonus. You don't have to do it. The setting here are so that everyone can have a better chance at winning. They haven't changed restrictions of the normal A-spec, B-spec, license or Special Event.

They make an add on easier for everyone and all you guys do is complain. Race in the sorriest of tires with no mods. Let a casual gamer race in the same conditions as you and every time they will fail. Are you a F1 driver, NASCAR. No and chances are the same thing your saying about weaker players, is the same the pros will say to you. There will always be someone that is a kick a$$ driver compared to someone else. If you make your own restrictions you can still have a challenge.

You(complainers) vs Michael Schumacher. Chances are, you'd loose. Why should a less experienced person have to play on terms they know they can't win. Especially when they bought the game to play as well.

I admit I got addicted to the challenge of trying to win gold before the restriction lift and I tried and tried. Gold all the first patch. Got 2 gold and 2 silver on the second. I don't need bragging rights. I want the money and the experience. I am happy everyone that can now have a chance to win just as I did. When they can win, they will come back. Why come back if you can't win. I bet there is something in life that your not great at that you don't keep trying. If there is nothing that you have come across in life that you can't master, your lying and denial has slapped you long time ago. The game is not meant to only be played my hardcores.

You only win monies and XP not tracks and Jack like you talk about Ritterkreuz so your whole argument is invalid in that sense as money and XP are not specific to seasonal event.

wow 16 pages of bitching....keep it up regulars.

LOL!!!

I will NOT tune a Prius, I WILL not. I can only get second, but I don't care... Really!... I do NOT care...

Well maybe that sports exhaust gives me an edge... :yuck:

Casual gamers just SUCK.

Go back to your social life and stop ruining games.

No, tuning wasn't necessary before. People managed to get gold without it on every other event.

I have one gold on all these seasonal events (fiat 500) and I decided for myself I'm not tuning or adding parts to get gold on the others. I'm still not going to do it.

You lost all credibility right there.

lol. Yep he did.

No tuning was necessary? Your one of the very few that can do this. Lets say 2% out of 5,000,000+ can do this. Its people like you that they had to lift restrictions. They tried to cater to hardcores. Apparently were too difficult for all to enjoy to get credits and xp.

I think he was referring more about you hardcore 1337 guys trying to convice everyone GT is something that should be relished for its greatness and everything should be earned. Money and xp can let him drive more cars and open more A Spec events however, or should we all just be hardcore and grind Indy. The poll speaks and the TC ranted about it being easy now and bawwing about no restrictions. It really seems some of you are offended guys that are not hardcore living room F1 drivers are getting paid and leveling up. If you need special entitlement from GT you can take pictures of your license trophies and gold on the challenges. If some of you are so godly at GT it should make you any difference what another does offline.

Chess, where all the pieces except the king are queens from the start isn't chess. Soccer without a goalie isn't soccer. And racing, where you can enter a Veyron against a Vitz isn't racing.

How does the way someone else chooses to play ruin your game? Really?

Do most of you go through life avoiding any challenge at all, because you MIGHT not win? I hope so. The rest of us can do with less competition...!

If you won the lottery, would you refuse the winnings because you didn't feel you earned the money? No, I don't shy away from life's challenges, but if there's an easier way without cheating or doing something illegal then I won't avoid that either.

Instant gratification leads to no progress at all. PD, for the love of God! Just put a Save Game on the internet where everything is unlocked, everything is Golded, all the cars are bought, and every challenge beat. It's what these guys want...

That's not what I want, i just want to be able to play the game and get through it my way, just like you want to get through it your way. You have no right to tell me how to play or to deny me features that I paid for.

When you make a game you have to consider the average gamer, and not just the Uber-Elites.

The GT series didn't become the pre-eminent console racing game by making itself so easy a child of three could beat it. In fact, exactly the opposite. Don't listen to the AHDD crowd (and they certainly seem to be the vocal ones!). Don't dumb the game down to them. You don't need them.

We're not saying make it super easy, we're saying don't make it so difficult that only 10 people in the world can play it. Oh, and yes, they need us for $ales.

You didn't for GT4. GT3, etc.. There isn't a game forum on the internet where SOME whiners aren't complaining the game is TOO HARD (a-wah! a-wah! a-wah!). Most game makers pay them no attention. Show a little spine.

I enjoyed GT 3 and 4, I guess that means they were too easy, better demand that PD go back in time and make them harder.

We're not saying make it super easy, we're saying don't make it so difficult that only 10 people in the world can play it. Oh, and yes, they need us for $ales.

I'm not a superdriver, GT5 is my first simulator and I golded 4 out of 5 in the first Seasonal Events.

Do you guys really suck THAT much? They're not hard, you just have to PLAY. Stop crying and learn.

come on this elitist attitude isn't helping, I am sure there are games you too suck in no matter how hard you try.

These guys are godly you didnt know?

Of course I do, I'm really bad at FIFA 11 for example, but I don't e-mail EA crying for easier IA or better players.

I'm 32 actually. I loved the previous GT games. Look, I'm sorry you happen to be SO good that no game is hard enough for you. You've got some serious anger issues dude. All I'm saying is that I have every right to play as I want, just as you have every right to play as you want. Don't force me to adhere to certain type of tire just so you can feel good about yourself.

Seriously, if my winning a challenge on a different type of tire, or using a different car then you did is such a horrible idea to you, if it really ruins your day by that much, then you've got some serious self-esteem issues.

I don't care how anyone beat these challenges. I don't care if they used a fully modified car with the greatest set of tires ever invented, or if they used a stock car that badly needed an oil change and had comfort hard tires. If they beat it the latter of the two ways then good for them. Hey they're a great gamer and I salute them for it.
