and no one is e-mailing PD to change the difficulty is it?? People did vent a little bit out of frustration in the last event but nothing compare to this vent by the "pros" (who easily won the race......on racing tires).

I consider myself guilty as well but not as far as saying anything bad about the casual players.

lol. Yep he did.

No tuning was necessary? Your one of the very few that can do this. Lets say 2% out of 5,000,000+ can do this. Its people like you that they had to lift restrictions. They tried to cater to hardcores. Apparently were too difficult for all to enjoy to get credits and xp.

I'd like to see his Focus challenge golded without tuning, and of course without SFR

Maybe you are a super driver and you just don't know? I tried all of them and have mostly gold on them and a few silver. I try to do them all without SRF and thats what I was able to do, and thats most of my limit. Some say they become much easier with SRF and really, if I had to resort to that then they might as well allow me to mod my car more to do it without it. The Focus one was one that was really hard for me. I think of all the event I have failed to gold on Focus, Mustang, 500, and Tsukuba RX7. Of those 4 only the Focus I think was "out of reach" for me. But it was really hard to be motivated to do them because I am not getting any "joy" from doing it over and over....

The way I view these is that they give me a good way to not have to grind. I am 3/4 of a way to lvl 30 now and I have so far done very little of that. These are a good way to keep that going.

Agreed i done the WRC one on rome and it was toooooooo easy for 1.5 mill =D

I'm not a superdriver, GT5 is my first simulator and I golded 4 out of 5 in the first Seasonal Events.

Do you guys really suck THAT much? They're not hard, you just have to PLAY. Stop crying and learn.

I silvered and bronzed on the first 2 sets of challenges if you really must know. I didn't complain that they were too hard because they were a bonus race. I'm just glad this 3rd set has allowed me to gain some $ and XP. Oh wait, I'm not allowed to have those because I'm not a super-awesome gamer, I forgot.

No, I did not use racing tyres.
C4 (was far too easy, I think I had it stock, no upgrades bought or so, just tranny @ 270)..)
Ford GT - stock (tough)
Audi TTS - Stock (reasonable)
Prius - some upgrades + comfort soft (but this one was easy this way)
Lotus - sports medium tyres (very nice race :) )

I think he was referring more about you hardcore 1337 guys trying to convice everyone GT is something that should be relished for its greatness and everything should be earned. Money and xp can let him drive more cars and open more A Spec events however, or should we all just be hardcore and grind Indy. The poll speaks and the TC ranted about it being easy now and bawwing about no restrictions. It really seems some of you are offended guys that are not hardcore living room F1 drivers are getting paid and leveling up. If you need special entitlement from GT you can take pictures of your license trophies and gold on the challenges. If some of you are so godly at GT it should make you any difference what another does offline.

Bingo. I have no problem letting the 1337 guys have their fun, but let those of us who aren't enjoy the game too.

We must be playing totally different games.

I am 15 second off with stock ford GT (sport hard)
30 second off with stock TT (comfort soft)
but I win with 3 second with a stock elise (sport hard)

something fishy here?

^You know, it is possible for someone to be better than you.

How does the way someone else chooses to play ruin your game? Really?

See this is the thing... even if no one else in the world owned the game, this change would still affect me...

I don't care how anyone else plays, it's my experience I am thinking of, and this definitely affects me.

I disliked how the rear was working on the Elise. I dislike the Elise anyway with too less grip on the rear tyres. Just can't get the hang of it. Just like the top gear challenge was a drama for me. In the end the only challenge I used SRF...

I have some cars I dislike:
All RX-7's
All Elises
But the Elise in this race, racing prett easily here was manageable. I won with 14 secs or so. I'll try it with hard tyres again if you wish? no prob.. And if you wish I'll even upload a vid

come on this elitist attitude isn't helping, I am sure there are games you too suck in no matter how hard you try.

Indeed there are but I don't expect the devs to dumb them down so I can beat them and feel good about myself. All the game needs is some sort of sliding difficulty scale that means everyone can find the level to suit them. At the moment PD seem to be satisfying one extreme or the other. Surely it would be better if they employed a system that satisfied both extremes and everybody in between ;)

^You know, it is possible for someone to be better than you.

considering I golded focus and RX7 without aids, has all license gold including the Vettel ones, I don't think there are people 3 seconds a lap quicker than me even on Iracing. 1.5 sec maybe but not 3 seconds.

And really I just want to know how it is done, the TT one is especially well off the mark with default comfort soft and no aids.

You can still challenge yourself with it. Just because you CAN do a thing (like use racing tires) it doesn't mean that you MUST to a thing.

Irony: n. When GT5 players who previously complained about having to grind and the lack of money and experience available now complain about the excess provided by PD's remedial response in the form of seasonal events.

I didnt liked the change but ruined is really not the word..

They are easyer, you dont have to spend hours and hours getting the finest tune to your suspension and transmission but you can still do it they way they were!

I did all of them with stock cars, only a few tires upgrades and I had a LOT of fun even with the prius!

Now, of course, all the newbies in the game can do it by only tunning their cars to the max, what I think is not a nice thing, but if I can have fun, I dont think I can complain about it!

I won't be doing the Prius one out of principle. I wouldn't entertain one of these cars in the real world and cannot bring myself to drive one in the game. If it was a 4x4 challenge then I'd be well up for that ;)

I agree with the original poster that "no restriction" ruined the game more than enhanced it. I also agree that everyone should have the right to play the game whatever way they want to, but if you look at any other game from any genre, there are always certain restrictions/rules that make the game more challenging. It is the sense of accomplishment one get from beating those games that makes the game fun.
Would you guys be happy if they made all license tests "easier" (for example, raising the time limit from 1 minute to 2 minutes for gold)? or maybe they should simply reduce the cost of all the cars so they are only 10 cr each...
I guess it is just impossible to satisfy everyone...

LOL, I will max out the Prius fully and do a few donuts if I get a big enough lead on the competition. They should have a racing battery option for the hybrids.

The difference is I now have no way of knowing what a challenging but doable limit is anymore... you are right it's still technically possible to go try and figure out what the limits are on some tunes to make a race really hard but beatable, but ultimately that's work, not gaming.

I mean they could have dumped Aspec all together and just left everything open from the get go. While GT5's kind of sad single player makes a bad example, think GT4 and 3... the structure and preset goals are what make it a game.

Now if GT5 was truly just a simulator and it was all open from the go, just choose some cars and slap them on some tracks to simulate the experience it would be different. But GT5 is a game... there needs to be a structured progression to make a game fun... The restrictions were what made that structured progression work well.

Without them it's not nearly as good... this is a large part of why GTPSP was so lame.. it had no structured progression and goals.

So while you are technically right, I CAN still end up racing the exact same races I did when restrictions were in place, I have to do way too much work to figure those out to make it enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong, I would be ok with just having suggested restrictions or a bonus for meeting restrictions or something... let anyone who wants to play it with whatever hp they want, that's fine and that IS others choices not affecting me.

But taking away the restrictions takes away the structured goals I enjoy meeting and there is no reasonably feasible way for me to go find them on my own again... I mean some of those restrictions if I had come up with them on my own, Iwould have decided 10 races in it was futile... trying to do something futile is not fun, but trying to do something you know is doable but you have to get better to accomplish... THAT is fun.

But as opposed to dumb down for everyone can you not just turn on SFR and you probably would have got some golds without needing to remove the challenge aspect of it?

Like on fifa if your passing is bad you can add semi or manual passin. They don't just make passing super easy for everyone on manual as then there's nothing to distinguished skill or add challenge to the game.

I don't understand why anyone thinks I am some kind of über-racer... There are a few Licenses I have still to do. There are a few I have only Bronzed. I failed some of the challenges. And you know what? I am NOT standing around and whining that someone ought to make it easier for me! If I were to have the opportunity to race M. Schumaker in GT5, I would NOT want to have him handicapped to the point where I could beat him easily. I would simply be honored to race him and accept my defeat as one of life's lessons. And I would want rematch after rematch, to see how CLOSE I could ever come. But if the only way to win is to blindfold him and tie one hand behind his back, I would NEVER ask him to do that...

I simply see the desperate attempt to dodge my point I asked. What OTHER racing games have you EVER played that allowed such blatant overpowering of the AI? No-one has yet answered this one. Probably from fear of the ridicule they would get by saying 'Mario Kart', I imagine!

come on this elitist attitude isn't helping, I am sure there are games you too suck in no matter how hard you try.

There sure are. I never finished Super Mario World to 100%, neither Donkey Kong Country or DKC3 for that matter. Colin McRae Rally 2.0 at the highest level was impossible for me too. Lately I haven't been able to do CoD WaW even halfway through on the hardest level. They're all just too difficult for me.

But what does that mean? It means that I can't do it, simple as that! I just can't. Someone can so there's no problem with the games, I'm just not good enough to pull it off.

Why should GT5 be any different? Why should everybody be able to win? To make sure the current "everythingtomequickwithlittletonoeffort" gamer generation doesn't feel bad when there are parts of the game that are actually hard to beat?

If that makes me an elitist, then so be it. I'll rather think of myself as one of those who regard winning as an indication of doing pretty damn well. Don't do well enough, don't win.

You know what was so great with the restrictions?
Tweaking the setup, tweaking the max out of the cars, talking about that with other people. If you're too slow now it's just: Add some bhp, add some better tyres. Done. Before you were tweaking the hell out of it.

Don't confuse, I agree on your point. I was just saying that accusing casual players for being sucky and "should practice more" is crossing the line.

Miscomprehension.

Not understanding that people are not complaining about the existance of these events or the prize money. Just how the skill element has been almost completely removed from how the first 3 events were launched.

This thread was started by someone whining about restrictions being removed not about making them easier. And yes in FM when I felt like it I blatantly overpowered the AI in EVERY single race cause I felt like it, now what? In Forza just max the PI and leave the game on medium for some races or just drop to easy. The ones complaining about no restrictions are all jelly and this is just ONE instance of seasonal events. I am playing this game for my leisure not for some sense of entitlement. I blasted past the races in FM I had no interest in and raced with Rossi for the ones I had interest with. This is easy money and xp for everyone get over it.

Matter of fact there is a little game called iRacing you should look into if you need some challenge in you virtual racing.

i think its time they dusted off the "gran turismo for boys" concept, rather than turning gt5 into it.
