This game already has a pointless feel to the A-spec mode due to lack of challenge, whats the point in taking away the restrictions in seasonal events as well? I can breeze through the A-spec events with whatever car i want since i don't have to worry about any restrictions but the seasonal events were actually 10x more fun since i had to use some concentration and real driving techniques.

If GT5 is going to market itself as the real driving simulator and shoot for the niche top spot as an 'authentic' driving game then they should keep the elements that fans of racing sims desire as well as more mainstream gamers.

Everyone complaining about seasonal events being too hard should go back to A-spec mode and hop in their formula GT ;), if you want a challenge and test of skill then seasonal events used to provide that. Sadly now its just another checklist on the things that PD got wrong.

Of course PD would have wanted to make the events more accessible to a wider range of players so they decided to make them easier. But instead have nerfed them completely. I think there needs to be a fix like a two tier rewards system, or even seperate events with and without restrictions so people have access to new events but can choose to enter those that suit their play style.

All this moaning because a bunch of elitist pricks don't get to be elitist pricks anymore.

Your challenge is still there, enjoy it. Now the rest of us can have a challenge too, as the ones set by PD were too tough for me. In fact I spent today doing most of them, and now they are fun, not sickeningly frustrating.

Poll shows 2 to 1 in favour, PD nailed it.

The big question is: why does everyone have to have a challenge? Why does everyone have to be able to win everything? Why can't many people bite the bullet and admit they can't drive fast enough? I know fully well that there are games I'll never fully complete because I lack the skills but I have to accept it.

Why are so many concerned with this problem when the game is only 6 weeks old. Shouldn't they be stuck into career mode.

Ah yes, im sick of ASpec too already. BSpec meh.
Online, hit or miss. Leaderboards non existent.

It's sad that 5 events cause so much grief. But when all your given is a bone.

Your calling people who want to play the game differently than you "pricks" What does that make you?

2 to 1 is hardly nailing it.

Think of it as a difficulty scaler. You can make the event as hard or as easy as you would like. Plus some of us don't have the time or desire to lap an event over and over again to get 1st. We just want to get out there and win, because winning is fun for some people.

For those of you who are too tempted by having the event unrestricted and somehow feel that you have to run it with a stock car, but can't, then perhaps you need to exercise some good old fashion willpower. Either that or just accept the fact you want to win, build an insane car, and then just have fun crushing the competition. There's nothing wrong with that!

My Audi TT-S had 350hp and I walked the competition, but I had fun in the process since I like the car. I don't care about the challenge either, I just want credits so I can get awesome cars and then enjoy hooning around in them.

This is not the problem at all...

Here how about this: you go and test numerous setups endlessly to find a VERY hard setup to win with, one that seems impossible at first but ultimately is doable if you tune the car just right and really practice.

Then you tell me the limits you found and I get to enjoy chasing that goal.

All that work you had to do to eliminate the truly impossible setups from the ones that are just really challenging? That's what's missing for me now... it's not that I can't keep myself from overpowering my car, it's that I don't want to spend hours trying a certain setup only to finally have to write it off as completely impossible.

What people are missing isn't that the restrictions kept me from overpowering my own car, it's that they represented a LOT of work finding a very challening but still possible race for me to compete in.

I bought the game to race fun races, not do work to figure out what those races are... and now that's gone.

We don't really know what PD has planned for the next batch of seasonal updates. Maybe it does add more restrictions. It may be a wave of updates of restricted to unrestricted races. Let's just enjoy what we have. If you're frustrated, keep yourself occupied with something else for a while. Check back again when the next update is released and take it from there.

What annoys me to be honest are the people complaining about how easy the game is with fully tuned cars destroying the challenge, but who forced you to? For people who don't want to play the same race for 4 hours its good. To be honest having no restrictions is great for me I can get xp quickly to enjoy the game further and have a life outside of it. Not spend 2 weekends on the trot etc by grinding away at indiana. Yey to no restrictions.

The poll should REALLY have asked:

Yes... ruined. Stop whining!
No, still great. Stop whining!

Just to point out that the whining goes across the board.

They can STILL enjoy the game differently to me, what makes them pricks is they moan because they think I shouldn't play differently from them. We can now ALL enjoy the challenges.

To quote Meat Loaf "two out of three ain't bad."

I wish every race in the game had restrictions like the seasonal events. Not having restrictions in racing is just dull. Facing your opponents on equal terms is what makes a truly great racing experience.

I love that no one seems to understand what your gripe is even though it's been posted several times. Sorry, but

Arrrggghhh. I just shouted out loud. Seriously.

What is stopping you from making every race in GT5 exactly as challenging as you want?

Are you people really this dumb? My intelligence actually hurts.

You want a fair race? HAVE ONE!! It. Is. That. Simple. (Sic)

I think the main problem is that if the race is unrestricted you don't get any additional reward or incentive to get better at the game. With the restricted ones you still got a load of cash and credit for 5th place. What is wrong with that?

They should make 4th place fairly easy to get on a standard stock tune. Give 98% of the credit / xp to 4th place and then let the hard-core guys chase the trophies and bragging rights. Then once every third week they should throw out an unrestricted event for everyone who just wants to max tune and romp 'n stomp.

Oh wait. I think maybe they had that in mind originally. But don't panic. Everyone will be happy in the new utopia.

huh. Everything that can be said probably has been said. This thread has reached maximum noise levels.

You DO realize that you are infracting your agreement with this forum to not use obscenity? There is a 🤬 emoticon when you feel the need...

And sorry, but apologies to Meatloaf, but 'Two out of three 🤬's IS bad...'

I simply feel I am listening to the Tea Party on this forum lately. I honestly don't believe that ADHD self entitled lazy slacker :censored:s ARE the majority on this forum. But they certainly make the most noise.

I'm glad you added the poll. Look at the numbers and suck it up.

The forum automatically filters for profanity, as my chosen adjective made it through it must be allowed.

At least we are now seeing the true colours of the issue coming through. It must be a upsetting for them, no longer able to lord over the "help with event x" threads with such wise words as "it was easy" and "I did it first time while trapped under a fallen tree using only my feet."

No it's not easy. Entering a race with randomly selected opponents with different tunes every time is frustrating and VERY time consuming. Did it for Beginners League and half of Amateurs League and then I got tired of the entering-leaving-adjusting-entering-leaving-adjusting-cycle.

It's a lazy design that Polyphony should be ashamed of. There are no good guidelines what so ever that can make you predict how hard/easy a race is gonna be. Creating a difficulty option for the AI would be the easiest way to satisfy everyone, combined with some restrictions for tires etc.

Who cares though? I don't desire to be good at a video game, I desire to have fun and be entertained. I work all day and the last thing I feel like doing when I get home is work towards some meaningless goal. I just want to race, win, get credits and have fun. I really enjoy that these seasonal events have been unrestricted, it's allowed me to buy a couple cars I hadn't yet and I'm finding the Ford GT to be 700hp of fun!

I think way to many people are taking this way to seriously, just kick back, relax and tune the car to whatever level you enjoy. If you want bragging right just say you mastered the event in a stock car.

rry about what other people do with their games wayy too much on here
if u like the challenge limit yourself
dont worry about how other people play

When a total of only 250 odd people out of the 4000 currently viewing this forum (not counting the untold thousands not currently logged in) are willing to openly support this, I think the Tea Party analogy holds water.

Read Orwell..?

Four legs good, two legs baaaadddd...
Four legs good, two legs baaaadddd...
Four legs good, two legs baaaadddd...
Four legs good, two legs baaaadddd...
Four legs good, two legs baaaadddd...

just keep bleating it until all sense is drowned out.

Welcome to politics in the 21st century.:dunce:

I'm glad you added the poll. Look at the numbers and suck it up.

The poll represents the majority. But at the same time this majority is the type of gamers who will probably substitute GT5 for something like NFS when they get bored building supercars and destroying the competition. Why not add cops and flips etc. to the style of play?

The problem i have with this argument is that PD is ignoring 'hardcore' fans who actually want a real racing challenge, and are more likely to buy wheels, special editions etc.

I'm not saying GT5 is or should be a hardcore racing sim, clearly it aims to please everyone. But in does so at the expense of their more loyal fanbase.

I thought how a game is played was up to each individual person, not how YOU think WE should play it...

The trick with the third round of Seasonal events is winning without spending any money on tuning. Did you spend 150,000 credits in order to win a 200,000 credit reward? Or, did you buy the car and then only hard race tires and win for less than 100K credits? The challenge is maximizing your reward credits.

Which in the grand scheme of things is a very small block of the player base and sorry to say but one that they won't miss.

is there something preventing you from doing the races in the required vehicle with just a few light upgrades and a custom transmission? something besides your own laziness or lack of restraint? seems to me that that would supply some of the challenge you demand.

Read Devedander's post. If you can't understand that, I don't know what else to say but maybe your intelligence really is hurting.

Stupid really, I spent days grinding and working hard to level up from 18 up to 24, and somebody else has just spent a few hours tonight doing the seasonal events and done the exact same thing through buyin the car, adding a turbo and winning them all.

Yes.. Aspec is full of that, especially through the end of January while the bonuses are in place.

What those of us who liked the seasonal events are saying is that there are now virtually no good preset races with a locked in high level of challenge.

Yes you can always reduce your cars tuning to make a race harder, but there is no way to know that you haven't tuned it so far down that the race is now impossible (and before you suggest it, there is no way to know it's impossible just from trying for a while... if I didn't know some of the previous events were beatable I would have labled them unbeatable after a few dozen tries) which is just aggravating.

The value in the restrictions on seasonal events was that you could enjoy a really hard challenge KNOWING that it was beratable.

As it is right now, I can only blindly guess about what's right to be very challenging but there is no way to know and thus it's not fun becuase for all I know I am beating my head against the wall.
