Why do pepole do this? Why not just focus on breaking, while shifting only with Clutch?
Does it give anything?
Do you have faster breaking / shifts? Or does pepole do it just for the fun of it?

Like in real cars, while breaking.Downshift does make the car slow faster, thus saving your brakes. So to answer your question, downshifting while braking does make the car brake faster.

I know.. But I mean, pepole press the throttle while breaking+downshifting (H gearshift)
Clutch, brakes... Slowing down, pressing down throttle, reving up, releasing gas, shifting.

ahh, then they are actually making the car work harder to stop and loosing time.Pretty much rookie drivers who cant multi task.lol

Give me a few minutes to finish laughing at your ignorance...

Okay. You've obviously never driven a manual car outside of your precious Gran Turismo. What the OP is describing is heel-toe downshifting, which is actually quite the opposite of not being able to multi-task.

(Now, I don't usually do any of this in GT because its not very beneficial...but every good real world racer will do it)
Assume you're in 4th gear, about to brake for a tight left hairpin that's going to require second gear. As you pass your braking point, you go hard on the brakes, clutch in, and stab the gas with the heel of your right foot as you select third gear, release the clutch, then repeat that process almost immediately when you're at a safe speed to use 2nd gear. This results in smooth downshifts with no lockup from the drivewheels, less wear on the clutch, and a more settled car.

Like I said, in GT there isn't a huge benefit to this, except when you need to use first and sometimes second gear in real slow turns in a RWD car. Dropping to first will almost always cause lockup and get the rear loose.

And this all only matters if you're using the H-shifter and clutch. Otherwise the game does it for you.

Also, how do you upload a youutbe video like that?

What you sit are referring to would be rev matching. In the game it reduces braking distances by a little bit because of the engine braking of the car. In real life it's used to save wear on the syncros I the transmission as well as shorten braking distances and prevent wheel lockup in cars without abs. It is very similar to double clutching in technique.
Edit: besides it is very fun IRL

So to answer your question, downshifting while braking does make the car brake faster.

This is actually not true, but don't worry, I believed the same thing until not long ago.

But anyway, in modern cars, the brakes on their own can lock the wheels on their own without much problem, which means that you do not need to use engine braking to slow down faster.

OFC its a good way to save your brakes when driving on the road.

But anyway, what the OP is talking about is heel-toe downshifting. What the driver is doing is that while the clutch is depressed, he "blip" the throttle to match the RPM of the engine and of the transmission before releasing the clutch in order to avoid excessive engine braking which could cause the drive wheels to lock.

LOL, sorry to inform you I own 4 cars, well 3 cars and a truck. My 2 main cars are #1 1989 mustang supercharged running 18psi, @ 638 rwhp, runs mid to high 9s in the 1/4..oh ya with a t-56 tranny, if you know anything about real cars outside your precious Gran Turismo, you would know that transmission is a 6spd manual, the same 1 in the vipers. 2nd, I also have a 1996 Cobra supercharged running 15psi with a 125 shot of nitrous.ALSO a manual tranny.

I didnt understand the question of the OP, that would be my fault, no need to be a douche about it.Dont assume that every person on here is a kid that only knows driving VIA a DS3 controller or a wheel.

If you own thos why do you play GT5?
Also, why is ur profile picture a jumping animated girl if you could give us a pic of your cool cars!!!
I would prefer that as I got your profile picture in real life, just without the braw (?) and biggerr......
Also I own a f430 in real life, enjoying it SO much, just want to see the game's version, and other cars. Also, I don't use that kinda downshift but what ever. Thanks all

Im a gamer , always have been, always will be.I will post some pics in my of my cars if that is what is wanted.I can also post a pic of the engine from the cobra in about 400 parts ATM.Changing the cams and crank in it for a little more power. And as far as my avatar, I have 1 of those aswell =). I just thought it was neat and she has a ford shirt on.

I always get a kick out of your Avatar because not only do her boobs bounce but her belly to.

As for your cars, does the Drag car ( the one you mentioned has a T-56 trans ) get driven on the road? I was curious because if I had a track car like that I'd run a racing 3 speed trans. But if you drive it on road I can understand the need for more gears.

ya, its a street car and still has the A/C in it.It may or may not have done a few street races aswell. =) . I just love when the ricers wanna try to run against it.And as far as the high 9sec runs, thats with slicks.Driving around town i have nitto drag radials on it, with those it runs mid 10s.

Yes it has carpet.Fiberglass hood and fenders.Ive owned the car for about 13yrs.And for a 1989 it only has about 96k miles on it.I come from a family of racing and engine builders. All the work was done either by me, or me and my dad.
The engine, 302 stroked to 347. Vortech V2 Si trim supercharger.Trickfrow twisted wedge alum cylinder heads.Custom made intake system.Custom grind big cam.Stage 3 clutch, alum driveshaft.Custom rear end with 411 gear ratio. And too much more to list.

Dear Santa...

LOL, like I said, 13yrs.Thats a long time to add parts here and there and test and tune.If it wasnt storming outside I would take a more recent pic.And the cobra is over at my dads house, I dont have a car lift, he does. Its black. And a 1996 with like 32k miles on it.Its got a vortech V1 on it.Full borla exhaust.I had a problem with my fuel managment system and it ran too rich and burnt a piston. So I decided to just rebuild the whole thing. So Im putting in bigger cams and changing the heads on it aswell. It was 588 rwhp on the dyno.Im gonna bump the boost up a tad and loose the nitro. So it should be around 700 ish

That sucks, those are fast cars. 6.0 LS1 400hp stock. I almost bought 1, but I bought the cobra instead.Send me a FR next time your on gt5.

Mine was the '04. 5.7 345 hp( I think it was like 425hp though never dyno'd it.) The hood is the SLP hood. But I think it was chipped because, It was FAST! I am currently restoring a 1977 Trans-Am.

I've always heard that ford 5 liters have a reputation for splitting blocks in half when they're built to make serious power. Do you have to use a block girdle or is this overhyped.
