Like in real cars, while breaking.Downshift does make the car slow faster, thus saving your brakes. So to answer your question, downshifting while braking does make the car brake faster.
ahh, then they are actually making the car work harder to stop and loosing time.Pretty much rookie drivers who cant multi task.lol

Give me a few minutes to finish laughing at your ignorance...
Okay. You've obviously never driven a manual car outside of your precious Gran Turismo. What the OP is describing is heel-toe downshifting, which is actually quite the opposite of not being able to multi-task.
(Now, I don't usually do any of this in GT because its not very beneficial...but every good real world racer will do it)
Assume you're in 4th gear, about to brake for a tight left hairpin that's going to require second gear. As you pass your braking point, you go hard on the brakes, clutch in, and stab the gas with the heel of your right foot as you select third gear, release the clutch, then repeat that process almost immediately when you're at a safe speed to use 2nd gear. This results in smooth downshifts with no lockup from the drivewheels, less wear on the clutch, and a more settled car.
Like I said, in GT there isn't a huge benefit to this, except when you need to use first and sometimes second gear in real slow turns in a RWD car. Dropping to first will almost always cause lockup and get the rear loose.
And this all only matters if you're using the H-shifter and clutch. Otherwise the game does it for you.
MrDrift98I know.. But I mean, pepole press the throttle while breaking+downshifting (H gearshift)
Clutch, brakes... Slowing down, pressing down throttle, reving up, releasing gas, shifting.

👍LOL, sorry to inform you I own 4 cars, well 3 cars and a truck. My 2 main cars are #1 1989 mustang supercharged running 18psi, @ 638 rwhp, runs mid to high 9s in the 1/4..oh ya with a t-56 tranny, if you know anything about real cars outside your precious Gran Turismo, you would know that transmission is a 6spd manual, the same 1 in the vipers. 2nd, I also have a 1996 Cobra supercharged running 15psi with a 125 shot of nitrous.ALSO a manual tranny.
I didnt understand the question of the OP, that would be my fault, no need to be a douche about it.Dont assume that every person on here is a kid that only knows driving VIA a DS3 controller or a wheel.
