I just found out that you can't. Also you can't even get your save from the online storage.

Let me try this...

EDIT: Yeah, mine still works fine man... are you using the same flash drive you were before when it worked?

I just did a few minutes ago before I turned off my PS3 it still works fine. Also you have to be a Playstation Plus subscriber to use cloud saving.

I can still save mine but, i don't know what people are mumbling about.

I'm a ps plus subscriber and it wouldn't let me copy to the online storage. I'll try with a usb in a little while.

Did you make sure you were logged into the PSN?

Not calling you stupid or trying to piss you off just starting with the easy stuff first :)

Backing up data on my end with a perfectly good flash drive worked find for me! Keep trying and you'll get it. Come back here if you have any problems.

I'm sure I was online. It works now though, both online and usb.

Good to hear! I already had a few tabs open to try and find what the problem could be but so far I haven't been able to find anything.

talk about jumping the gun....geezus

You can still back up your saves. I did it yesterday 👍

I copied to the usb 3x and it still says "no save data" when accessed.

Maybe it's only for a certain region but not sure why this would be the case.

I've looked online for a guide how to back up but couldn't find anything very helpful. Can somebody please explain and/or point me in the direction of a guide?
Also, would a normal memory stick work and what size would it need to be?

Thanks

1. need usb capable device (stick, hdd etc) which is formatted with FAT16 or Fat 32 as a file system
2. Plug into PS3
3. (optional) go to GT5 and press save (down left)
4. Go to XMB menu and select GT5 save.
5. triangle on save file -> copy -> select usb device
6. finished

Thanks for that, sounds simple enough. What's a fat 16 file though? And the XMB? Sorry for sounding thick I just don't want to go do something daft and wipe if all clear or something lol

FAT = file allocating table or something like this. Its how the harddisk is formatted. the play station understands only old and basic formats like FAT32 (go to your PC and right click on the USB device to format it (data will be lost !!! do a backup )
XMB is the menu structure (main topics horizontally and sub menus like settings or games vertically) of the ps

When it comes to issues like this, people really need to stop using misleading thread titles i.e. one person having problems backing up their save does not equal every single GT5 player having the same problem.

I've had no trouble backing up my save.

XMB means Cross(X)-Media Bar (main menu system for PS3 and PSP).

If there's nothing on your thumb drive, try formatting it to Fat32 on your PC.

well i have for some unknown reason i thought my flashdrives were bad because all of them showed data for other games and it showed GT5 but it wouldnt let me click it, so i copied my data from my micro SD card and it worked fine, but now i got to copy it back and the copy button is greyed out, what is playstation trying to be as gay as xbox is?

I have tried several usb's and hard drives, and i cannot back up my save data :( this is a massive scam to buy PSN plus....if my ps3 dies anytime soon, PD is gonna have hell to pay.

I just did it. Don't know what to tell you. . .

Must be an Australian thing....are you australian, or maybe for psn plus users? Do you hvae a psn plus?

Must be an Australian thing....

Nope. I've had no trouble backing up (or restoring) my GT5 save file, even today.

Did you used to be able to, but just recently can't backup?

Managed to back up just now (UK) but haven't had to restore a saved file for a while, so don't know.

It seems there's a lot of paranoia about this issue at the moment. With Sony's track record it might be justifiable.

But then again they've probably got other things on their mind right now.
