I take it you're interested in signing up @Raw10_2u ? You cant just mic drop and not participate after reading that

I filled out the form twice now,ran with Lobban and some OG SNAILS last night.I think we can take these wankers!Sending @Mike Lobban (the infamous Lobbanotomy!) an industrial size jar of skippy peanut butter and some new knee high rubber boots for x-mas,,,,,that should keep him busy,,,,now for the rest of those jokers!

If any of you guys new to GTS want to get some fun experience the Ring Rats run a non affiliated enduro at the Ring every Sunday at 1330 Central. We use either BOPed Gr4 or 3s. We run either two or three hour races with mandatory rest stops. Lots of chatter and we do not keep score. If you want to play friend me and then Look for Ring Rats room. It’s usually open around noon central. For that matter y’all come.....

Are we going to separate the teams into class? The d1 guys from gt vs the d1 guys from pc2?

I have been practicing PC2 to prepare for this but am having extreme difficulty finding DS4 settings that work. The main issue I keep having is that whenever there is a chicane where I have to steer one way and then back the other I immediately lose control and spin out. I have even tried at very slow speeds to get the mechanics figured out before increasing pace and I cannot control the car. Besides “getting gud” is there anything else I should be focusing on to improve my control?

I also am pretty shaky generally but it is evident that I am used to the forgiving GTS controls and have to train myself to be smoother on PC2. In my replays you can see my car twitching left and right down the straights as I wrestle the joystick. Geez I have so far to go to just get to the point where I am not a major risk to everyone around me. It’s almost enough to force me to pony up for a wheel finally.

Almost

My 5 year old can drive in gtsport relatively functionally. I have been in sim racing leagues for close to 8 years and have real life racing experience and I struggle to even get through a lap sometimes in pcars2. I’d say the deck is stacked against the gran turismo team.

I'm with whitey here I play project cars and unless you can get a good setup under your car in pc2 your doomed I struggle to have any speed on the cars

It’s honestly not that hard to drive in PC2. You just have to hammer into your head that slow in fast out is a necessity in this game. It rewards those who are familiar with basic car physics. I’ve driven both games, and if we’re talking about real life experience I’d like to think I have a fair bit of it, by far PCARS2 has a much more detailed physics engine.

Bottom line is though, if you’re fast in one of the games, you’ll be quick in the other. Just might need a bit of practice

The DS4 controls in pcars2 are atrocious. For me, that’s the battle. Balancing control vs speed requires endless hours of tweaking that I cannot commit. I can “sense” the physics model working though and the ability to feel what the tires are doing even through the DS4 is impressive. I just do not have the finesse to mimic steering wheel input with the analog stick as I feel is required to truly control car behavior.

It took me awhile to get used to PCars1/2 on controller. Sport and PCars are such different games physics wise. And its much harder to go from Sport to Pcars, than from Pcars to Sport in that regard. I've been on a wheel for just over a year now so I cant help you with controller settings. All I can suggest is to not try and over drive the car. Like Robbie said, slow in fast out is a good mentality to have in PCars. In Sport you can get away with a lot more, in PCars it will punish you. Even with a wheel.

@mexxifrieboy are you still using controller? Can you hook up whitey with your settings if you are? And you are more than welcome to join this event if you have Sport.

Looking at the sign-ups and available dates for everyone it seems like Fridays are most commonly chosen out of everyone. Its going to be impossible to pick a date and time where everyone is available. Plus were limited to 16 max anyways. In order to get this Event moving in the right direction, I'm going to set a placeholder date for us to run this:

Friday January 25th 2019

That doesnt neccesarily mean we will 100% be using that date - but its something to shoot for right now. And while itd be nice to run seperate nights (1 night Sport / 1 night PCars) itd be hard to get the same exact drivers together on the 2nd night of racing. So I'm thinking 2 combos each in 1 night.

Sport
2 races - 20 min each

PCars
2 races - 20 min each

That way we can fit everyone and everything into a 2 hour night of racing using both games. Ringers can be on stand-by if any of the primary drivers have to drop mid way through the night.

So clear your calendars!

You can take me out. I'm not interested anymore. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure all the tracks are 'unlocked' when you play online, so unlocking the tracks shouldnt be an issue. Credits on the other hand might be (remember the days when we could 'gift' cars to eachother? that'd help right about now) Like its been mentioned, theres ways to gain credits fast with no work. But I'm sure you'll probably want to put in some practice, and those practice sessions will net you credits right there.

We'll make sure whichever Sport cars we use wont break the bank. Something affordable that almost anyone can afford.

Good question
Disregard

@Whitey093 i wish there was an easy button I could tell you about that could give PC2 a more forgiving gamepad experience but it’s realky just 95% practice and acclimation to more sensitive controls. Seat time, seat time, seat time.

After being forced to using a pad the last month because of my injuries, I don’t even think atrocious sums up the experience. The only reason I’ve stuck it out is so I can race in my own league once again. As soon as my car starts to get out of control it’s almost impossible to recover. It’s not even close to feeling realistic compared to a wheel. I just can’t understand how some of you race with those damn things! I’d say it’s almost 100 percent required to have a wheel in PC2.
Whitey, I’m sure there are some amazing deals out there on wheels right now, or even look for a used one. You really will never regret it.

@aerolite i appreciate your take. You don’t know how many times I’m told that PC2’s pad controls are good and it’s just that I’m a terrible driver and don’t know what I’m doing. Blind fanboyism is so irritating.

I would like to get a wheel eventually but I don’t want to do it until I can do it right. My PS4 is in our living room and at this point it is becoming more my 5 year olds than mine so it must stay there. There isn’t much room for a dedicated rig and my wife will veto anything that’s makeshift or ugly so my only path is to get a nice rig that I can either slide over or fold up when not in use that also isn’t an eyesore. Between buying something nice like that and a wheel this will be a large expense that will have to also be cleared by the wife.

This is why I play gran turismo. I can quickly log in with the DS4 and be somewhat competitive straight away. I will say this though, when I have a good session in pcars it is quite rewarding. I have been doing the career to get familiar with the game and after a horrible gt4 race at Watkins glen where I spun at the bustop chicane every lap, I had a brilliant race at Long Beach where I was able to be quite fast and run away with it. Tracks without chicanes or cutbacks are doable for me at this stage. Hopefully I can get it all figured out by this event.

I have a wheel stand pro, you can have. You pay shipping. Maybe the wife would be ok with its decor?

Also have a Xbox Fanatec CSL wheel and pedals for 200 bucks, plus shipping. But you would need to purchase a Drivehub gadget to make it work on a PS4.

Here is a start for you DS4 users looking for a "good" setup. Worth trying these to find that unicorn.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gamepad-settings.383010/

I have put some time into Sport and the game is far better than I thought it would be. Yes, Sport has the eye candy in regards to graphics, yet the driving physics of Sport in my opinion lacks the feel and flavor of PC2. Most of the cars I have driven so far on Sport have an unnatural robust amount of grip.
The enhanced grip over the curbs in Sport .... is lost in translation to PC2.

Glad to see a date, penciled in. Now, do we have any ideas of the cars or groups we should be spending time with?

Formula Rookies at Sonoma, in the rain most likely

I get the appeal of weather but for a one off event such as this, I would much rather have the focus be on racing each other as opposed to the track conditions. If this were going to be a series of races then I would say bring on the weather changes and pit strategies and allow all that to factor in but this isn't what we're planning here.

This is still up in the air. I can either make the decision on which cars/tracks we use, or we can decide as a group. Either one is fine by me.

Would you guys rather race 4 different tracks or use 2 of the same for each game? Like Fuji and Catalunya for example. It might be fun to use them both all night and see the difference both have in each game. It would also reduce the time of having to practice 4 seperate tracks.

So what would you guys like to do? Do I pick the cars/tracks? Does SNAIL pick the PCars combos and Lobanaro pick the Spurt combos? Do we use 4 different tracks that are all available in each game or run with 2 all night?

And as far as cars go, I'm thinking one street car and one race car. Something that isnt too difficult to drive and that will be a good candidate for close racing. The Ginetta that we used last week comes to mind.

I also think we should run with fuel and tire wear off for this first event. The new PCar guys are going to have a hard enough time as it is. Throwing in pitstops is just going to make it even more difficult. Even I still have pit issues. That way we can just concentrate on racing and your performance wont be affected by any outside influence because PBugs decided to give you @yogi bear 's pit crew

And to really even things up, maybe we force stock setups. That way no one has a clear cut advantage no matter which game were using. It all comes down to the driver.

Well, I appreciate the invite, but I don't have the time to rack up the points to buy cars and tracks and experience in GTS. If I can DLC a car or two for less than $10 USD, that would be OK. But even then the 21st won't work for me - checkride day. Maybe next time
LOL, trying to educate me? :sly:
That would be the answer but unfortunately that's not the reason as I do have GTS, I did run almost all the in game races, I already have a ton of cars and over 2M game credits to buy more. :D

I do appreciate the fact you invited me.
Merry Christmas and Happy new year to all of you.

Yes, the kerbs in GTS are a cakewalk in comparison to pCARS Sceti. However, I can say the same thing for how easy the Grass is in pCARS compared to GTS. In fact, I can say that the Grass in GTS is just as dangerous as the Kerbs in pCARS are .

@ONESPACE

I appreciate the offer. I will look into these things tonight and see if they work for my situation. Man I almost pulled the trigger on a G29 over Black Friday for under $200 but with nowhere to mount it I passed. If I can take care of it all for ~$200 I’m pulling the trigger.
