Semi-Truck drift? Thats interesting to see. I never thought it was possible. But put a little thought into it. You'll realize how simple it is to get that truck to slide. Engines up front nothings out back. Perfect to get sideways in. But put a little MORE thought into it. Thats a big truck its probably got a massive turning circle. Also, The steering of it. Thats where this video got me thinking. That guys got skills.
I'd give him a highfive if I ever saw him.

Okay, Now that that's off my chest...

Yeah, I've seen it. It is kinda impressive, but I'd be more impressed by a twin-axle conventional cab. As they are, those trucks are built for the shorter, windier hauls of Europe and Japan, and not really the LONG, straight hauls of America. Thus, shorter wheelbase and more manuverable.

To his credit, though, he is doing that in a vehicle with high roll center, and no handbrake. Not to mention, two extra tires on the back axle.

Yeah, I've seen it. It is kinda impressive, but I'd be more impressed by a twin-axle conventional cab. As they are, those trucks are built for the shorter, windier hauls of Europe and Japan

To be fair, that type of truck is "conventional" to us here in the UK And on a dryish but dusty surface and at not such high speeds it's pretty impressive. I think to drift a US style wagon you'd need a much less grippy surface really, but I expect they also have more torque than Euro trucks.

Torque, yes, but eight rear tires and really, really long wheelbase isn't gonna help matters.

To tell the truth, The drifting there with that truck wasn't too far off of what you see with many production cars. To really get one sideways...you'd need to actually tune the engine up quite a bit, mess with the suspension and steetiring angle...anything you'd to to an actual drift car, really.

My internet is like crud, so I can't comment on the video right now.....

I remembered that there was one part on Option Videos that they showed Yasuyuki Kazama drifting a Mitsubishi Fuso flatbed truck in the snow at Bihoku. I think that was still one of the most amazing drifts yet........

Ah that Legends car above is nothing special, they have motorcycle engines as far as I know and weigh about 400kg. They drift for just about the entire races anyway
