Did south did not do north. . . had Gateway been stationed in North then I would have done North not South. . .

Other than emptiness, what does North Dakota have going for it? When I want to get away from everything but still be protected by the US I will move to ND.

The Peace Garden is in the northern central part of ND. There's Lake Sakawea (sp?), the air bases and nukes, wildlife, historical stuff, it has one of the least polluted atmosphere's in the US, there's a lot of stuff, probably wouldn't be the best place to move if you're used to a city though.

Right - but none of that is a reason to travel there, except the Peace Garden. And since North Dakota is simply a leech on Minnesota, North Dakota should simply be part of Minnesota.

No, Fargo is the biggest crock of crap. We don't talk at all like that. We talk like normal people. Besides, if you can endure that movie, you're top notch. Ugh, stupid movie.

Why make it part of Minnesota when you have South Dakota, that would be idiotic. South Dakota makes no sense by itself so why not just combine them to simply create Dakota. Maybe you should buy North Dakota and you could do whatever you want with it, Doug. Then when it comes time to sell, about two months by my calculations, there would be no one who is willing to buy it. Ha!

Because North Dakota and Minnesota have had reciprocity agreements going back years - a North Dakota student, for instance, can go to a Minnesota college for in-state tuition and vice-versa, and North Dakota and Minnesota have always shared tax rates on tax-apportioned semi trucks traveling across state lines, among what I'm sure are thousands of other things.

South Dakota, on the other hand, is a touristy place, thanks to some man-made monuments. I've got to hand it to South Dakota - a few thousand man-hours has generated a monument that will never cease to bring in tourist revenue to the state - that's almost as good as Washington making their highest mountain a "national park" then charging visitors, something no other state's picked up on (though Mt Whitney, the highest point in California, is in Kings Canyon National Park, but you can get to it from outside the park).

Anyway - I can't afford North Dakota. I wanted an island a few months ago, but my wife vetoed it. :(

Geez, maybe a small planet or 1 Microsoft Way's for sale.

My boss at my last job went to college in North Dakota; said she just wanted a change of place from Florida. She said it was similar to a foriegn country; having almost no expereince with sub-zero temps and the easy-going personalities of Midwestern rural folk. But she stressed that there's just about nothing to do outside the college town, and travelling anywhere was the same whether it was 10 minutes out of town or 5 hours away.

After two years, she'd had enough and went back to South Florida.

14 days into my trip I can now add Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon and Washiington to my list, along with Vancouver BC. Yay! I'll make a map when I get home and can add Nebraska, Idaho and South Dekota as well.

Well, i have been around, kinda

The drive to florida sucked. Espically when we got to Lousiana, everyone thought i looked like an alien with my baggy pants, spiked hair, and sunglasses. Bunch of dessert too.

The drive to candada was awesome! Lots of forest and rivers and lakes!

By the looks of things, I-10 sucked. It's quite monotonous through the Panhandle area east to Jacksonville. I can attest to that, having made a drive to New Orelans this last summer.

I also highlighted Texas; it's gray because I've never been outside the airports (Dallas and Houston), so i'm not sure if that really counts, since I haven't actually stood on terra firma in the Lone Star State.

I haven't been to that many states, but here is my list -

I have lived in multiple locations in Wisconsin my whole life.

I have visited Montana (x2), Idaho, Wyoming(x2), California, Oregon, Washington, Iowa, Minnesota(x12), Illinois(xUnknown), Michigan(x2), Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, District of Columbia, South Carolina (x6), North Carolina (x2), Georgia, Florida.

My list is a bit short because we never drive to destinations so I don't get to add the states we drive through.

I have also been to Canada. My parents have been to every state in the union and several foreign countries.

I have an updated map. No new states, but a different way of displaying the information. This shows how recently I've been to the states.

You should look into purchasing the South Sandwich Islands.
