DJ, tires should hold up for 15 laps.

How do you feel about running more laps, like 32, 34 or 36? We could then have different pit strategy.

I was noticing this course was significantly smaller and combined with the tire choice and total power going through them that increasing the event to 36 laps is a sound decision.

Will update tomorrow here and on our website.

@ryce_bouy glad it worked! I didn't want to fail anybody

I'm not sure I can focus that long

Last weeks race was long and intense, and if I'm not mistaken ryce_bouy ran away with the win by a big margin. After 5 laps I was no longer competitive - and was fighting for 8th -10th place finish - and I'm sure that's true for most drivers last week.

Honestly, I struggled to finish that race with bad tires and busted up car. The better drivers, tuners and cars are gonna win anyway. I'm not included in any of those groups; I'm still learning the ropes.

30 laps is plenty and gets my vote (prolly too much). With 40 laps, I'm already wishing the race was over :grumpy:. It's probably pretty good for the better drivers, but we need to keep novices spirits up :). If after 10 laps I'm being lapped by the leader what's the incentive to continue racing :indiff:?

I'm running number 15 for the race.

Xonant, I know what you mean about being lapped. I was in the Cappuccino series and I got lapped almost every race!

Give the longer race a chance. Even if you are not racing with someone, you will still get faster as you will know the track more. Also, some of us are fast with some track/car combo, but slow with others, so you will never know. With a longer race, you can beat someone who is faster if you can be more consistent.

Come run some practice laps with us today or tomorrow. I gained 2 seconds last night just knowing the track better.

Last week Greyfox won I believe. He will be fast this week too.

I think 40 laps may be too long and everyone will have to pit 2x. Last night I made the tires last 20 laps, but was running about 3 to 4 seconds off pace by the end, so I do not think that is workable.

Hey - I sent you an PSN invite last night but didn't get a reply. I'll try to join up with you guys tonight.

My bad. I turned off my onscreen notification during gameplay because it was slowing me down. I cannot help but to look at who is on/off. I will accept it tonight.

I wouldn't feel to daunted about running 36 laps. I imagine the average lap time to be around 1.23ish for most drivers with the faster guys averaging 1.20ish. That is way faster lap than the 2 minute plus laps we were running at Grand Valley. I'm thinking this race will take about the same amount of time even though we will be running more laps because of this.

BTW Grayfox ended up winning with Ryce_Bouy taking second and xRoadrashx taking third. You can always check our website and the first page of this thread for updated results a couple days after the race.

As you said you are still learning the ropes and although I am 95% done with GT5 I still feel out of place with the faster guys as well. And to be honest the only way to get better is to continue practicing and racing with these guys. I have improved greatly just by practicing with them. And even with all that practice I did I still ended up in last place:crazy:.

The point is I continued to race to hone my own personal skill. I can see people becoming indifferent as they are being passed and not wanting to finish a race but aside from series points you get for finishing you also get a ton of seat time to get better.

Also don't hesitate to ask a question or ask for tuning hints from any of us. I may not be the best tuner but snoopy, roadrash and others have all given me tips which have shaved of seconds from my lap times. In the end I want you to know that the whole point of this series is to have fun and I want you to know that I appreciate you coming out and racing. Try the next race and if its still not for you then at least we all know you tried. And you never know you might do better than you expect.

Xonant, like Rycebouy and DJ said, I have found that running a lot of laps is the key. As I know the track more, my time gets faster (sometimes).

As for tuning, I am still learning. Scaff has a good guide. Also, here is a link: http://www.gt5-tuning.com/index.php?title=Nissan_Silvia_Spec-R_Aero_(S15)_‘02

I usually set my car to online status after the race so people can see what I am running. I do not do it before the race because I am constantly tinkering with the setup.

I ran a 1:19.5 last night, with a pretty stiff setting and high downforce setup. But that was a fluke. Out of 40 laps, I think I only got below 19 twice. I dont remember the setting, but I would be happy to share it tonight or tomorrow.

Hey just a heads up but that link was reported as a malicious site on chrome for me.

Well turns out I cannot make the race on Friday. I will be doing overtime on Friday and my shift is from 4pm to midnight. I could never refuse time and a half. Hope everyone has a good race :-(

We'll miss ya, but time and a half is a very good thing, particularly in these times. On the positive side, my odds of getting lapped just went down a bit.

Just joining this group and it's my first time racing online. Here's the car I plan to use Friday.

You'll be missed. Good practice last night.

That was pretty fun practice. I have never run so much before a race--the repetition helps a lot. Good that we made some credits running the 3 lap race while practicing too.

For future races, how do you all feel about running a race where we start in the afternoon and end in night? Night racing especially if there is no driving line, requires more concentration.

I would also like to run a wet/dry race too.

I wanted to do the same

Great practice yesterday guys. I still haven't worked out my spinning problems but I believe its just getting better with the wheel and using bumper cam. I have been a Dual Shock racer since PS1 (which wasn't even a dual shock LOL) and have always raced using the 3rd person view so its taking a little longer to get a handle on then I first thought it would.

Also I want to welcome a couple new members to the group. Thanks brettcee and AllinWitJT for signing on. If you haven't had a chance to check out the website I suggest you do. We do most of the voting on there and you can always check there for the most updated event information. We try to keep it clean out there so just a heads up:sly:

After this weeks event we will have 3 more races to end the season. So if you have a suggestion please head over to the event suggestion forum thread located here and put it in. I will then put it against two previously mentioned suggestions for members to vote on. Currently we are voting on LeMans Prototype Race Cars (LMP1) or a build what you want 500 Performance Point Challenge.

If you have a suggestion it will be matched up against either the Corvette vs Viper race scheduled on 4-15-2011 or the Vintage Muscle Car race scheduled on 4-22-2011. Those will be our last races of the first season. Also don't forget to suggest a track.

Ok I think thats about it for now LOL. Cya guys on the track later.

My lounge will be open @ 5:30 PM Pacific Time (8:30 PM Eastern Time) race will start promptly at 6:30 PM Pacific Time.(9:30 PM Eastern Time)

My lounge is usually pretty reliable but a couple of members have reported difficulty getting in. I will be cleaning out my cache tonight.
