More than likely not. Wheel vs controller = unfair. Same thing with PC and Xbox Halo players. Keyboard and mouse > controller.

Hm, so it will only be showing like 16 people on the island at the most whenever they are somewhat close to you? I was hoping for rooms with like 32 cars in each roaming the island.

As I understand it, the island will be packed. But you'll only be able to see sixteen of them in your immediate viscinity. If you want to race someone else, just drive to a different part of the island.. it'll be sixteen different people.

I'm not sure how many different servers there'll be. But in the demo, people have been able to just jump online and meet up, without having to worry about what server they're on.

It's not like TDU is a driving sim or anything. I bet it'll be nigh unplayable with the DFP.

Actually I think it'll be very playable with a wheel. Of course, it may be a little twitchy, but I'm sure there will be a setting for steering sensitivity. Even still, how many games that have been multi platform have been able to play against those different platforms? None that I'm aware of.

Yeah, I know. It isn't a common thing, but it's certainly something I'd love to see more of.

One racing game that had cross-platform online multiplayer was the first Need for Speed Underground. It was fun double-teaming servers online with my friends, especially since my PC and game-console TV are right next to each other. :sly:

Any word on the psp version? Whats online mode? Will it be devoid of half the features like on NFSMW? Can we play infrastructure with other people?

Yay! Stupid question time!

Will PCers be able to play with XBoxers online?
Most likely not, the games arn't coded excatley the same so they will be incompatible.

The wheel > controller point isn't true at all, you can buy a wheel for the XB360, and there's a pretty good one on it's way too.

MS did not say PC users can play 360 users, but its a different story for some future Xbox 360 and PC games.

I recently moved into a new apartment and I'm waiting for my broadband to be enabled. As soon as it's on I can download this demo. It sounds so good. Is the demo still available for download?

I believe it is.

Melbourne House is developing the Sony versions, so no info on them yet.

The Xbox360 and PC users is regarded to as Live! anywhere. It won't be happening on TDU for a long time.

Nope. Probably won't be until September or a month from the PC's release when the PC version is actually near completion.

When do you think you will download the demo, because sooner or later the demo may get pulled off the market place?

EDIT: Just spoke to my Broadband provider and they said my line will be ready for around the 4th August.

They better not withdraw the demo, if they do, smackdown shall be laid down upon Atari. I did place a pre order with Play.com today so I hopefully get the game as soon as it's out.

I guess you guys missed the fact that they are making the game 100% compatible with the Logitech G25 for PC? I'd say it will be completely playable with a wheel, besides the bikes.

If online is truly free for the X360, I'll get that opening day/weekend.

But I already have $400 set aside for the wheel and the PC copy. That wheel just seems so much more enjoyable.

the guy who is in charge of the controls for the PC version has got a DFP himself and is a LFS racer...he said that he wants to include support for all sorts of controllers. from 900° wheels, to clutch pedals and h-shifters.
if he pulls only half of that off, i'll be very happy.

Online better be free. I'm not paying extra on top of paying for XBL. That's totally lame.
No, I believe from the hints from OXM that you don't need Live! gold to play.

1 member on the Atari boards said he played the demo online with a silver membership.

You mean magicfr?

I think he confirmed to us he already implemented the G25's features to be usable. He did report the X360 won't have FF as MS didn't send him the coding to do so.

Oh, well I thought that was controlled by Microsoft? If the playing online with XBL Silver catches on, XBL Gold is gonna be pointless. Microsoft won't let that happen.

I agree, in a demo sure, let them experience online gameplay, it could entice them into buying gold when the full game needs it.

The online mode has been said to be free for months on end guys.

whats with the downloadable cars list?! you buy the game and can download them for free right away?
It's afterwords. My only source says licensing issues are most likely not worked out yet.
