My gamertag is arkitek00 so add me and ill send you an invite to the club.

Aww, I had PM'd Jordan to have his permission for an official club which I was going to start today.

I guess you can add me then. (Ebiggs)

Ok. I'll create it tomorrow, hopefully Jordan gives me the OK for calling it the Official GTPlanet club.

I got the game yesterday! Only played it for 5 hours, and already I have:

Found all the car showrooms
Found the bike showrooms
Corvette Z06
MV Augusta Tamburini
Audi TT
Kawasaki Ninja

Im going to play it for longer today though

When you first start playing it seems like your progressing really quickly but as you read what other people have done you realise there is so much more. I haven't even explored the island yet.

Then there's the fact of going back to different races to achieve a time in the world leaderboard. This is going to keep me busy till the PS3 launch.

I know, other people have McLarens and stuff like that :indiff:

One thing I did notice when racing other people online is that they seemed to have some of the best cars but they just couldn't drive them. I won both the races in my Lotus Espirit, one was against a Murcielago and the other against a Mercedes CLK DTM. I kept looking back to see where they were and all I could see were dirt clouds.

Sounds about right, I'll get my copy of the game on Monday hopefull so I'll join the GTP club whoever ends up creating it and wherever it get's created.

Does anyone know if the tuning is progressive? As in, the car would be more powerful with all 3 levels of tune instead of just the 3rd?

As a representative - and TDU:U playing member - of the staff I'll OK it from here.

Be sure to add me also. :sly: My gamertag is Christiaan.

I do like this game but with a few reservations.
Too often I feel like I'm playing a prettier NFS game, particularly when you're racing amongst traffic (God I hate those races - the number of times I've lost because of idiot traffic? And why do they change lane for no reason?). Too many of the single player races feel generic. The "Give a Lift", "Deliver Car" and "Hitch-Hiker" modes are kinda different and fun though.
The AI cars vary from harmless to psychotic, bouncing off walls and careering into traffic, which although fun at times often ends up with them getting away with it far more than you can hope for.
Making money, though not hard, is unbalanced. As a Rookie with an F car I can make £12,000 in 2 minutes racing. As an Amateur in an E car I might get £10,000 in nearly 3 minutes of racing (has anyone tried that Angel's Jump? ).
I'd have liked to have had a list of cars for sale at showrooms on the GPS or at home rather than having to look on the map and visit each showroom individually. And I didn't like traipsing around finding all the car chowrooms before having the right to buy a motorbike. And there's currently not enough bikes, though that may change with downloads.
The gearing doesn't feel right on many of the cars but as it's far more an arcade racer I'll let that slide.
The character animation is poor, but it's not really important. Still, as characters are in the game it would've been nice to have seen them better animated.
But that's about it. I do like the way it loooks. Pop-up is pretty low and the frame rate, though not perfect generally does well. Cars and bikes sound pretty good. I particularly like the Ducati 999 and the Lotus Exige.
I'd have loved to have been able to adjust car settings, even if it were just the gears. Maybe next time.

Anyway I'm off to thrash my Ducatti.

PS. Is it possible to save a replay? Or take a photo during one? I don't seem to see an option for it.

I got a zonda and a Golf to add to my collection. I really like the golf, its really nippy. The zonda seems to be a tad skittish but its ok when you get used to it

Well, if we're going to have an official GTP Club in the game, I'd say it definitely should get it's own sub-forum.

By the by, I'll be on, but only rarely. I have XBL (Gold for a month with new 360), but I don't have a router, so I have to disconnect my computer to get my 360 online.

Alright, I'll make the club as soon as possible. Are the servers down for you guys as well?

A club thread will do fine for now. Only when things get way out of hand (in a good way mind you) we can start thinking about a subforum. :)

Okay, servers are up, I just need to make about $400,000 so we can have the club at the northeast tip of the island. Follow the main highway and you'll go past it eventually.

I just unlocked the Ford Island racetrack...and if it is on Ford Island it is not much of a racetrack. It is more or less a road without AI traffic. The roads intersect, so it really can't be a circuit. Maybe we unlock the real track with Champion status?

The Ford race track isn't really where you'd want to go for races I'm afraid. The proper race track (with curbing), located near the airport, is unlocked when you reach Champion status.
