I played this demo for 3 hours straight last night.
This new demo is absolutely awesome!!!!! For those that dont know what your missing or dont know how to find friends pay attention! I simply cant comprehend how much is in this one game. Seems impossible.

1. You can make rooms, invite your friends in and play a free roam
2. You just just drive around and still run into friends in this huge online world. There were well over 1,000 people on yesterday. However you will only see 8 at a time. As I was driving around I ran into at least 3-4 of my friends. Just by driving in free roam.
3. THEN if you find someone you can invite them to a race. Anyone around can join this race. NOW COMES THE AWESOME PART! You can literally make any race track you want. ANYTHING, ANYWHERE!! Simply amazing!
4. Here is another cool part. You can lock onto your friends in free roam so you never loose them. Click twice real fast to the left on the D pad when you see your friend. All the visible racers will appear to the left. At that point you just lock onto your friends name by clicking right on the D pad. After that you will never loose him. You can lock onto multiple friends too.
6. Like mentioned above there is a problem with clicking your friends names and joining them.
Yes there are still some major problems with just dropping in next to your friends but besides that it is amazing how this entire game works.

That's sounds brilliant. I downloaded the new demo last night but I had to go out so I didn't get a chance to try it. I'm definitely playing this tonight. What time you going to be on Camaroboy
 
I am usually on late Friday and Saturday night until at least 2:00 AM EST. I will be playing this demo tonight for sure! When you get on let me know and remind me that your from GTP.

someone on the official forums wrote that in order to avoid these problems you should not use the start button or look at the map within the first 5 minutes of gameplay.
try it out and tell me if it improves anything.

I believe I also tried that last night without any success. Something I did notice and this is very important. If you hit right on your d pad more than 2 or 3 times to try to join a friend, you will never see anyone again. It basically kicks you offline after you do it 2-3 times. So if you drive for more than 5 minutes and dont see anyone. Leave the demo and start all over again. Its frustrating but once you find people it is extremely fun. Or just do it the easy way and go to the put your GPS at the checkered flags, start your own room, then invite your friends. That checkered flag method works flawless and is the same as the first demo.

I also dont think the physics are bad at all. Well the bike is probably the worst handling of all the vehicles. I personally found the Cobra to be the most enjoyable car in the demo. Easy to drive, easy to drift, and it sounded decent. I truly enjoyed the 2ne demo and could not get over how overwhelming it is. When we made our own race map I was just blown away. It even had full traffic and the GPS. Its like every race car game ever made all in one. Just wait until you get to experience everything that I did last night. If you want you can join me and I will show you everything.

I really can't wait to try the motorcycle. Does it have front and back brakes? I'll meet you tonight and we can can cruise round.

The players I've met so far have been quite friendly, but I guess that'll change when the whole world gets their hands on the game.
I think the avoid/report players will be a good thing for this game - There can be some arrogant loudmouthed players out there !

If you see me on let me know and I will pull you into the room with us. You are right about the avoid/prefer option. That will really come in handy. One of my favorite parts of the 360. You dont like someone just put them as ignore and you will never see them again. Basically like a filter to get rid of the ignorat people. Hmm "Ignorant filter" is what I will call it. :lol:

I should be on aswell. We'll have to start a GTP club. I think this thread needs to be re-named aswell. Maybe TDU Discussion thread.
 
I am also at work for about 2 more hours then I still have quite a bit to do with Heather after work so I wont be on for probably 5-6 more hours. :indiff:

Well going from Moto GP to this you can tell the bikes are not right reguardless of how they are in real life. Midnight club 3 has smoother bike handling. The gravity has some issues too. IMO this is what need for speed should have been. I mean the physics are ok at best, almost a mix of NFSMW and PGR3. $40 is a great price for this.

However if the full game is exactly like the demo its going to have issues and multiple patchs. Readig all the bug reports after 24 hours of being out is a little discouraging. Also I saw the ones from the frist demo.

I would like to know the answer to my question about how the game decides who it will put into the island at whatever particular point ? There are just 8 visible O/L players on your screen at once - where are the rest of them?

Yes most of the mods on here are very helpful if you ask nicely.
I dont know how the demo decides but it really seems random. Keep in mind there are thousands of people on that island you just cant see them. It will only allow you to see 8 at a time for obvious lag reasons. If you drive away from them you will eventually run into new people. I ran into 3 of my friends last night just driving around. It was quite amazing. :dopey: Then we raced and made our own track layout.

I really like the emphasis on the houses too - Theres a nice looking rear projection TV in the first house!! Cant wait to buy the others

At any time in free roam if you hit left on your D pad it shows the 8 players around you. You can challenge them to a race. If they accept you get to pick anywhere on the entire island you want to race to. Then even cooler than that it shows how many miles it is to that end location. Also other people can join! Its quite brilliant. Then if you loose you can try a rematch by clicking revenge.
 
I used the revenge thing this morning. Something else which is quite cool is that if you are challenged to a race by someone YOU get to choose the course, and vice versa if you challenge someone. PLUS - When they are deciding on a course you can chat to them and see on your screen what they see on theirs, and kind of decide as a couple where you want to race, very cosy!!!

Brilliant, so you dont get constantly owned by someone who has superpowers on a particular course.

Really? When I challenge someone, most of the time I get to choose the route.

1) It would cost me just as much, if not more, to upgrade my computer to be TDU-capable as it would be to buy an Xbox360. I'm not a PC gamer. I've never been a PC gamer. Ergo, my PC is about ten years behind anything anyone could possibly consider to be a "gaming PC". Not enough CPU, not enough RAM, not enough graphics.. hell, not enough hard drive space. Those things add up really quick.

2) Big-ass TV + big-ass surround system + comfy couch >>>>> Little monitor + tiny PC speakers + office chair.

THAT'S why.
 
I've found a really easy way to find friends:

Go to the GPS, then go to players

Press x and go to the bottom tab labelled relations

Change it to friends

When you see a car logo, press one of the bumpers and then go back to the players tab

It should make a box around your friends car

Press A and you'll teleport to them
 
I've been following this thread, reading/downloading from near the beginning drooling at the chance to play this game on the PC. Once I heard of a 2nd demo I got excited thinking maybe, Just MAYBE...they would get a PC Demo out. I'm utterly pissed off they didn't even consider making a PC Demo for a racing game thats based on Massivly Online play. That is what the PC is for, Racing and ONLINE! How can they ignore us, it just dosn't make sense.

So anyway's I had been planning on buying the X360 when Forza 2 comes out, but now I'm in quite a pickle. I can not afford to get a X360 and HDTV. But I found out they have a VGA connector for my PC monitor. So now, I'm sitting here....thinking...should I do it? should I go and buy a X360+VGA connector JUST for this "Demo". I'm very much a SIM racer..I play LFS on the PC regulary, I'm involved in a active team and compete in a couple leagues. I just can't believe that this NON Sim game is getting me this excited. So the question is.....Wait till October :ouch: for this to come on PC or bite the bullet and get the VGA connector and hopefully be able to purchase a TV by christmas? GTP...it's in your hands now...Make up my mind. :cheers:

EDIT: WOW...I just read that the FORZA 2 Demo will be out the 26th? TOMORROW! If this is true..no need for you guys :) I'm off to freddies.
 
Man this demo is awsome, you can turn off the driver aids fanally.Press left on the d-pad and then press down to select from: sport, hypersport, driving aids or ...OFF!
 
You could turn the aids off in the first demo too.

Me, CAMAROBOY, and BigJamesGTI just finished played. We had a blast looking for dealerships and stuff. :D
