Isn't that just a hard drive death?

Nah, my ps3 was meant to be on its way out so i guess its time came, every 10 mins or so it would over heat and shut off and even the YLOD would appear for like 2 seconds, so i started researching and stuff and i found out its to do with the heatsync or something to do with hardware failure so yeah, im extremely pissed

How the hell. I've owned mine for 4 years and its still going strong. My wheel is a little worse for wear, I'll have to pull it apart at some stage so I can fix it before it dies properly.

My dad has the 40gb "fat" PS3 and he's had that for maybe 5-6 years. Never had a single problem with it. That is, until I get GTA V for him..

Edit: I think you were referring to the PS3. :indiff:

Yeah I was referring to the PS3. Mine a 120gb one. I do get the constant freezing and system restore issues but that is only due to gt6. I have gone through 2 controllers in the process, but that's nothing lol.

Ive had mine since it first came out, so maybe around 7 and a half years, it only turns off with high end graphic games, but usually whenever i play gta 5 it never cuts out, just games like Ghosts or GT6

I am attempting to fix le G27 :scared:. So now looking at a thing I got tagged in by SRE. It's a mis alignment issue if you're wondering.

Im trying to clean my ps3

uh well started since when I got home, had to find some tools and some Loctite from school. I'm now inside it and getting the plugs out which are a pain in the a**.

I'm a bit confused with which screws I'm putting Loctite on....

the ones that hold parts you don't want to touch. I'm interested in seeing a pic of what it looks like under the covers if you could upload a pic.

Thats where your wrong, there's a sensor board which determines centrepoint in the wheel. With heavy use and hitting bump stops etc it miss aligns the PCB over time. When it becomes misaligned, you pretty much have to reseat it and use a adhesive to secure it again. Overtime and wear the heat generated will weaken the bond and you just repeat the long term cycle of repairs. :)

Just a project im working on. A bit of a legacy for the great friend we all miss dearly. Starting with recreating his 300zx from gt5...

I will be making a small film of sorts and I want to take my time with it, everyone from the team will be included aswell.

You need to clean it every 30days.

Fair enough, mines still centred, but I have heaps of vertical play in mine, thinking something has snapped or loosened off.

Well... Wheel was fine for the first 10 minutes or so then it did it again . So now I think i'm gonna leave for a while...
TH with the vertical play it might just be with the Allen screws need tightening, cause when I put mine back together I tightened them up and there was less movement with the wheel.
