Does anyone know the thread size of the TH8 shifter stalk?

Thanks
M6 and M10 1.25 pitch works for me. Maybe it's an equivalent imperial measurement? I wouldn't know, I try to stay away from imperial measurements.

Edit: As per post below M10 1.25 pitch is a bit loose which means it's probably imperial. M6 fits ok on the other end but that's probably because the difference between M6 and closest imperial at that level is tiny.

So the part where the knob screws on is M10?

Thanks

If you can unscrew the knob already why not take it to a hardware shop and try an M10 bolt in it? Or measure the cross section of the thread with a ruler because M10 just means approximately 10mm. I can never remember if it includes the thread itself or if it's the inner diameter, but as the nearest sizes to M10 are 2mm either way it should be quite clear.

Ah, right, well try a ruler until someone more useful (i.e. Someone with this shifter) comes along I guess. Or maybe order a small pack of M10 nuts from Amazon and see if they fit. Not sure what else to suggest to be honest.

not convinced. I bought some M10 1.25 for the top of my actuators and they're too loose for the TH8, I just tried it.

It is an oddball size M9. M8 is to small and M10 is to big. SAE has nothing close to it.

Sheesh. I will try my best not to be helpful anymore.

I 'think' it's probably an imperial measurement that's just under M10.

OK, I will say no more :p

as far a I search out
M9 size metric screw is not that common, or available at all

check with the workplace maintenance area with the shelf of metric and imperial size screws using a caliper

the metrics
m8 = diameter at 7.89mm at the teeth
m10 = diameter at 9.9mm

for the imperial
1/4" = obvious too small
5/16" = diameter @ 7.86mm
3/8" = diameter @ 9.33mm

my best bet is that the thread is an imperial inch type
and the size should be 3/8"

this based on two reason
1. M9 size threads is not not common or even a a standard size
2. seeing the actual M8 and M10 size, it is quite a big difference, as using a M8 is too loose while the M10 with the teeth > 9.5mm are not able to fit inside the 3/8 inch type thread

My Momo shift knob in my MR2 has some rubber inserts that fit over the gear lever and then inside the knob. Then it secures with three set screws and a collar screws over that to finish it off. One like that should work.

ok I'll doit. I want to get a screw type knob as well, makes it easier to change than those 3 hex nuts universal type.

I'm thinking of having a machinist colleague of mine make a TH8RS to metric adapter to fit standard screw-on shift knobs...probably Honda or Subaru fitment.
