The Crew: Wild Run Edition

If it is 5000 Sq Km (as quoted by the devs) then that should convert to 1930.511 Sq miles

This thread at the Ubisoft forums has some pretty good map comparisons and discussion to go with. I'm thinking it will just under twice as large as TDU2 (if you combine Ibiza and Oahu together)

If this is almost twice as large as TDU2 then it is truly is a massive game because TDU2 is HUGE!!

To be fair, this game is a MMO action racing/driving game from the team that brought us the first TDU (not the 2nd), it is meant to be played online and you will need to be if you want to get the full experience the game is meant to offer, however TDU has options to disable online interaction, race requests, messaging, etc. One of the Devs has been quoted in saying The Crew will have similar options available to turn off online interactions.

In short, if you play the game this way, you will be online, but no one will be able to disturb your gameplay session.

Here are some quotes I read concerning the always online subject. We know it will be always online, but you can play the game without interference from other players if you wish.

The Crew developer Ivory Tower has confirmed to VG247 that the entirety of its open world racer’s campaign missions can be played solo if you don’t fancy being bothered by other people.

As part of an interview you can read in full on VG247 soon, creative director Julian Gerighty explained that while connected play across The Crew’s 5000 km-squared world is encouraged, players can shut off the from the world and play the full campaign solo if they wish.

Our experience is enhanced when gamers connect online, as they can then be a part of a fully living, breathing world filled with other players to challenge or crew up with,” he explained. “However, if some players are more of the solo type, they can play the full campaign SP, they are never constrained to play cooperatively with friends. And if they change their mind at some point, they always have the opportunity to team up with friends on-the-go, without having to go through intimidating lobbies.

Well that's good! :D Although I am worried about my internet connection though. :nervous:

I have xfinity which has been very stable up until about 3 weeks ago, now about once a week I seem to randomly lose my internet connection and I have to restart the router. If that happens while I'm playing The Crew then the game won't save until the connection is reestablished. I really wish they would have made it more like TDU where you don't have to be online to save, but I have a feeling it was more Ubisoft's decision to do it this way than it was Ivory Tower's.

Aww man, what were they thinking? :guilty: Should've been like TDU's own then. :indiff:

By the way, is this Ubisoft's first racing game? Haven't seen them make one previously.
They've published a few Driver games, the most recent being Driver: San Fransisco. Some of the devs from that game are also working on The Crew.

I want to drive to my house. I know that my house or any others around me will be modeled, but if its all corn fields around where my house should be Ill would consider it well modeled, hell all that is out here is corn fields with an odd neighbor thrown in every few miles.

And the online will be dead in like 3 years, dissapointing.

Source or just a random prediction?
TDU's server ran since 2007 all the way through 2012, and that's more than plenty.

But I'm just going to guess that (if the game is going to be a success), we'll be having a follow up title to which we can switch over!
