Drivers flying out of windshields and exploding production models?!? I'd buy that game!

;)

[Edit: misread the quote above earlier.]

I would read all this thread, but it's huge :) so this may have already been talked about.

I've read a few people's concerns regarding damage on certain cars, namely being restricted on race cars.
I've only ever owned GT5p,but have borrowed previous versions in the past, but I was thinking there may be a work around in getting damage on every car.

What I need to know is if in the previous versions, could any car be turned into a race spec machine? If so would that not allow GT5 full damage once your car is race spec.
I would find that a fairly happy middle ground if it meant every car could have the level of damage shown in the trailer.

I say anything that adds to the realism of the game is a plus. Be it flipping, damage, skid marks, reverse lights, etc. From the FM3 videos I've seen with the Turn 10 guys who tried to flip their cars but were unsuccessful, I'd say that sounds pretty realistic.

So they were unable to demonstrate the "F-ing" feature during gameplay?

I don't care how great Forza 3 is or claims to be, until they figure out how to put more than 8 cars on a track at once, I'll never take the game seriously. People seem to forget that GT is going to have AT LEAST twice as many cars on track in GT5. Forza is a joke.

Yeah alot of people overlook the 8 cars when they claim Forza 3 looks as good as GT5 which it doesn't

Its like bragging about keeping close to another car in a drag race when that other car weighs twice as much as yours (16 cars compared to Forza's 8) and has boxy aero compared to yours (1280x1080 resolution for GT5 vs Forza 3's 1280x720)

Not to mention the advanced HDR lighting in GT5. I haven't gotten a high quality video of cockpit shadows in Forza 3 yet, but from what I could see it looked primitive compared to GT5's HDR

Back on topic, as I mentioned with the inclusion of NASCAR they should look into allowing the cars to roll because alot of high speed crashes in NASCAR on the 2.5 mile ovals involve cars flipping

Some examples of how it looks like in NR2003

Funny Video

Example of "blowover" physics. Sort of like the Mercedes CLR in lemans 1999

Hey guys, I downloaded the GT5 Concept Movie over the PSN. I went frame by frame through entire movie.
When I came to the SUBARU DAMAGE movie, I went frame by frame during COCKPIT as well. While in cockpit view, at first car goes nose down, hits ground too hard, and if you look really really closely, frame by frame, you notice the HOOD MOVES UP and DOWN after it's hit.

DL the movie to PS3 (1080p) go frame by frame, watch closley the HOOD after it gets hit.. It goes up a bit, you see damage, then it goes DOWN, then up and down again.. then it shows outside the car view.. you can see under the hood on few screens, like the silver cold air intake.. ALSO there are PLASTIC wheel covers (Look inside the fenders) that something GT5Prologue is missing. As well we can see SHOCKS and SPRINGS! GT5Prologue has them?

So we can expect damage with movable parts.

You can view it here if you look closely, the hood moves in cockpit view.

HAHA! At least we are on same track, But I believe the car hit the ground too hard not the barrier. Another reson the STI did not hit barrier, is when u see the video, he lands in middle of the car with his left nose.. there is no barrier at middle of track!
I love this DAMAGE because you can take the jump wrongly and mess up big time, not too many race sims do that.
Yeah it sucks such a flimsy barrier is still like a wall. But better then No rally at all!

Well im not sure where the damage comes from, you could be right (i still think its pre-rendered with in-game assets, so the damage could come from a button press on a keyboard too ).

I bet it's all live damage, Because if they had key press button they would crash into a wall or rock rather then something like ground from a jump.

So they were unable to demonstrate the "F-ing" feature during gameplay?

My point was that it is difficult to roll over a car in real life, especially a sports car with a low center of gravity. It isn't like Jane Mother of Three is constantly rolling over her Camry when she clips a curb. Therefore it looks like FM3 has a fairly realistic roll over simulation. And by "F-ing" I am assuming you mean "fantasticing". You can't just invent words to make a point. I'm pretty sure it's in the AUP.

I wonder if body damage incurred during an endurance race can be fixed by your pit crew or affect the aerodynamics of your car.... it is almost a given that your car's performance will be affected if you crash, but to what extent did PD go?

The damage is highly unlikely to have been pre-rendered. After a crest like that, a rally car easily picks up front end damage.

To me this trailer shows the type of class PD & Kaz have. Yeah, you can show a car rolling into a million pieces, like the Forza trailer, but thats not what GT is or has ever been about. The biggest difference I saw in the two crash segments is that the driver in GT kept going.

Well with the new videos out, I cant help but realise how bad Damage is actually going to be.... all we get is bumpers falling off slightly and not even damaged, this is not Damage.

please, please could you give it a rest for one moment...

From the feature announcement last night:
■ physical simulation of vehicles
Physics system simulation is brand new
Represented is full fall in vehicles [possibly rollover]
Damage representation (reproduced in full by real-time collision deformation)
faithfully reproducing the behavior of electric cars, i.e. Prius, Insight, hybrid cars and the latest Tesla model

You don't think PD would lie about such thing, do you? At least I hope not!

I mean, we've seen the deformation in the E3 trailer. The damage we've seen today has to be a turned down version or something like that.

This could be a fairly "easy" setting for the damage, so people actually make it through the first corner of tokyo and get to see the rest of the track.

Not that it really matters much because I will still be getting the game on day one but its true that I as many others was thinking the damage was going to be a bit more “realistic” . Even in relatively low speed head on collisions, cars have crumple zones. We don’t see any of that at the moment.

If this is what we waited five years for then I’d be just as fine with no damage and a game to play. I’m not surprised at all that we will only have 170 models to start with that have damage because you gotta build up the base as you go. Give us a new DLC every other week and all will be fine in the world. Do what you gotta do PD but put the game out and let us get started so you can continue to improve the game with add on content.

Everybody seems to concentrate on the Scooby. Can someone please take a look at the Mitsu and tell me I´m blind, because I can´t see any damage at all on it, allthough it hit the WRX pretty hard.
