Problem is that people don't think enough and jump on conclusions too fast. When Kaz says "I want to have day/night cycles in the next Gran Turismo", it will take minutes for people to claim that he promised that. So if it won't come for GT5 (which we don't know yet, since there is no official, complete feature list to this day), people will be disappointed. Problem is that they rarely ever promise anything. The hole you speak of was dug by fans and haters which didn't think clearly.
Actually, it's very simple. If you think the game is good enough and you can put up with waiting for it, go and buy it. If you think it was surpassed by the competition, go and buy the competition. And you're welcome to post your views on things on a forum like this, but repeating it over and over won't help. Everyone has his or her own opinion.
Explain this then, when Kaz says that he will only do damage when he they can do it right. So when you hear that damage will only on some cars what does that make you think? Is that doing damage right? How about online also, I think its just going to be bumper cars all day
