No, his definition is the worst part.
"If you're not out of control, you ain't in control."
that IS retarded.
Drifting is all about control. Without control it wouldnt work at all.

All I know is, they have Rhys Millen and Sam Hubinette doing lots of the stunt work, plus a really cool Monte Carlo with 700 Something horsepower that gets no love in the movie.

I'll watch it, probably at home, with the blinds shut, and the lights off, so noone thinks I'm there.

I find it quite hilarious in the commercial for this movie where they describe how drifting is and the one thing that gets me rolling on the floor is "The tires are slick" Lmao...Who the hell purposely drifts on slicks....

YEs as i mentioned beefore, thats a really good description:
'i'ts called drift'n. The cars are lighter. The tires are slick' NO, @#$%@ing ****!? REALLY!

You know the worst part of this movie?

240SX prices are going to get even more absurd.

I'm glad there isn't a single Miata in it.

What depresses me is they have an old Mustang in the movie. And knowing The Fast and the Furious' track record, I can guarantee that car will be totalled by the end of the movie :indiff:.
The Charger wreck in the first made me cringe, and according to the last sequel, not even the Yenko Camaro is sacred. I know it wasn't a real Yenko (if it was the director would've been shot), but still! How dare they choose to destroy the cars that are more valuable IRL than the ricers will ever be, and will never be made again!:grumpy:

Three Mustangs.

One actually has an RB26 in it, the others have a 289 and a 390 I believe.

They do smash the crap out of at least one of them.

390. w00t. Not an AMC enigne is it?:D
Anyway, yes and I know for a fact that one of the vintage 'stangs is badley ****ed up with sparkly green paint and chrome rims :yuck:

They also... wait.. never mind

Nope.. Ford had a 390 of the FE series, I believe the FE family was the 390, 406, and 460, If I'm not mistaken.

AMC 390 in a mustang? Wtf?! Can I at least get a go pack with that?

Dumb movie, Dumb cars, (The Charger in the first one had a 318, and they put some apparatus under another to make it look like it did a wheelie. I wouldn't be surprised if the "Yenko" had a 307..)

That's the Texas boy's car, and is equipped with the RB26.

Well, one of them has the RB26, most of the stunt work was done in the 289 and 390 powered Stangs, with an RB26 engine exhaust sound overlaid on it.

I'm not even sure if the RB26 one actually ran much or was used more than for an underhood "proof" shot.

Actually that is not that wrong afaik. Pro drifters in Japan have special drift tires and they actually have a huge amount of grip, a bit like slicks. If you want to drift a 120 hp car you better put on some old winter tires, but when you have 450+ hp, a car optimized for drifting, a race track and want to perform insane powerdrifts you need grip at first, because normal tires wouldn't provide as much control....

Well I don't know why that bow wow is in the movie, I don't know him, I don't like him, but whatever. He doesn't automatically ruin ff3 TD. The prescreenings seem to have been successful, I didn't really hear anything too negative about it. We have new actors, a new location, a new story, new director etc....
So why should it suck ? If you are waiting for a oscarlike story and dialogues like in a Robert de Niro movie, then you will be dissapointed. But I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be an entertaining evening in the cinema with a solid plot, nice cars, good sound and a lot of drifting.

Sometimes I get the impression that it is just cool to be against "F&F", just because a bunch of idiots rice their cars and think that they are TEH RAZOOORS !!!1!1!!! because they bought an Apexi decal and a neon light for Mom's car...
That's the way it is, those guys will always be there. I like the first F&F, I am no ricer and still I like it. Imo it's about the movie/game/car/etc, not about the people who like/dislike it....

The first F&F wasn't all that bad, but when I was walking out of the theater, and some dumbass said "hey, anyone want to race?" I knew that this franchise was going to be a pox on society. And it was. The second movie was a real garbage dump, and this one is probably even worse. You're going to have a bunch of retards trying to drift their riced-out Civics everywhere. It'll be funny until one of them slides into your car. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's the little boys who watch F&F movies, and think they know everything about cars and racing. "Don't blow your manifold welds!!!" Morons.

Can anyone say wank factor?

Well when this comes out, cops are gonna have their hands full. I may just go sti in the parking lot and watch what goes on after they come out.

Well it's not really a problem here in Germany so I can't judge. Still, the movie and those guys are two different topics. I don't think that should be mixed up... I mean that is the same argumentation with ego shooters and freaks who run into their schools with guns and try to kill everybody.

I didn't like the 2nd one at all, but I know that this one will be better. As I said different setting, actors, story etc....less CGI according to the director... could be a great movie. Maybe not, we'll see... ;)

EDIT : featurette

I'm a serious movie/film fan, and loves movies from 1930's(some earlier than that) to today. While I'm a huge fan of some obvious classics, I can also enjoy a good "dumb" movies like "The Fast and The Furious", "Super Troopers", "Starship Troopers", etc., etc. It's the Fast and the Furious. My point is, what are people expecting from movies like these?. Good guys battles like 100 bad guys and survive all the time in Hollywood flicks. Movie like the "The Island" was far more stupid and fake, yet people seemed to like it OK. It's quite mind-boggling.

Many of the critics of this F&F franchise, IMO, just hates what they think this movie stands for, and the import car tuners(ricers). Kyle mentioned people wanting to race after coming out of the theater, after watching the first one. How is that the movie's fault? Kids shot at each other after Boyz N The Hood, some kid started a fire because of Beavis and Butt Head. If your kid got busted drifting in the theater parking lot after seeing "Tokyo Drift", your kid is an idiot, and you weren't a very good parent. At least that's how I look at it.

The way I see it, if you're a "car guy," the FnF movies are kinda like "It's a Small World After All" at Disneyland. As annoying and stupid as it is, it's one of those things you just have to see at least once, if you have a chance.

Lol, only five days left, and I can't wait!

This film is going to be one of the comedy classics of our modern age, at least to a serious car guy like me. Plus, I'm really interested to see the scenes that my friend and I shot the spy footage of last year.

I guess I'm behind in the times, but I just saw Diesel in a commerical for the movie saying, "Ready to race?"

I did too. Then again, we are watching the same game. I didn't know he was in the movie.....

I'm looking forward to this. One of the few movies that really had me thinking about going into the theater to watch it instead of renting DVD.

I think it's a rental. Or I might just buy it on used DVD for few bucks.

There was meant to be a huge car cruise down to the local drive-in over here, but I am working tomorrow night so I cant go. Apparently there is like a miny show and shine competition with awards by one of the local car clubs before the movie...

As for the movie itself, Ill probably just watch it to see some good drifting stunts in it.

Um, why are we Americans trying to fight crime in Japan? They have their own laws and low violent crime rates there, last I heard. And for that matter, why does every scene taking place in Japan have the obligatory subway crowd scene? Does the movie take into account new tire mounting and balancing?

I think we're all a little cynical at the F&F movies because we're a little more knowledgeable than the average bear, when it comes to automobiles, driving, and racing.

It's a movie. They need a story.

Well, have you been to Tokyo ? The subway system is amazingly crowded. But I think that the crowd in the trailer was on the streets, maybe both.
Does the movie take into account new tire mounting and balancing?
We'll see ;)

I am aswell, still I don't need to be cynical... ;)
