Voices of a Distant Star
The Place Promised in our Early Days
5 Centimeters Per Second

Great series though I think all three has the same Director. You should read the Manga version of Voices of a Distant Star.

so, I borrowed Serial Experiments Lain from a friend of mine.

Heck I remember when I started watching anime about ten years ago that came out and the fuzzz was big. BIG. In that time it was nay impossible to find anything here, but I managed to source some really low-quality VHSs of this thing. I dont even remember where I got them.

I watched almost the entire series then a friend came along and asked if he could borrow them. I never got them back.

So here I am, ten years later, having watched 12 episodes out of 13. The good thing is that I don't really remember much of it, so it will be like watching it again from zero... hopefully. And in glorious quality this time.

Hopefully.

anyone with Anime Network on demand

if so what animes are you watching ..

Anglic Layer
Getbackers
Demon King
House of the Dead
X'amd

Just to Name a fuel:rolleyes:

Exactly. Makoto Shinkai is the director of all three. Love his movies so much. :)

Agree. 5 cm/s is one of the movies that I will never forget. It's depressing, but y'know what, it's realistic. It's not trying to be a fairy tale and a happy ending for the sake of having a happy ending. ;_;

So I'm going to start watching Aria (so that the GT5 wait would be easier). I heard a lot of great things about it. What should I expect from the 1st season?

Yes, the Eurobeat soundtrack on Initial D is sweet. Wish I could race to it!

And since I'm posting in this thread for the first time, thought I'd introduce myself with a list of some of my favorite anime series over the years.

10/10 (on the day I rated it anyway):
Baccano!
Blood+
Cowboy Bebop
Moribito
Mushi-shi
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Samurai Champloo
The Twelve Kingdoms
Welcome to the NHK!

9/10:
Code Geass
Darker than Black
Eden of the East
Ergo Proxy
FLCL
Full Metal Panic!
Gokusen
Mobile Suit Gundam 00
Naruto
Rouroni Kenshin
Serial Experiments Lain
Trigun
Wolf's Rain

Notably not impressed with The Last Exile

Good taste. 👍

Fighting my way through Getbackers right now, not really loving it. Took a break to watch Initial D.

yaywalter, just looked at your post above again and it looks like we do have similar taste overall! GTO was great, and I didn't list movies, but many of the ones you have are in my 10/10 or 9/10 list.

My to watch list, if you think I should not bother with any of these let me know!

Tweeny Witches
Ayakashi
The Tatami Galaxy
Bakemonogatari
Texhnolyze
Earth girl Arjuna
Argentosoma
Angelic Layer
Basilisk
Beyond the clouds the promised place
Busou Renkin
Darker Than Black Season 2
Ghost Hunt
Requiem from the Darkness
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Crest of the Stars

I've already seen over 60 full series so these aren't even close to my first choices in anime and I'm not really sure if any of them will be much good...

Ghost Hunt's pretty crappy, I wouldn't bother unless you're really desperate for more anime.

OT-> Hello guys long time no see! As I'm updating the now hated Vehicle Wish List. I'm taking a short coffee break from the wish list. :indiff:

BT-> As of the moment, I'm watching Kami No Mi and Bleach whenever I get the chance.

^ I should say that The World Only God Knows/Kami No Mi is a good series! I like on how the story flows and follows the manga significantly:

->On the manga-side, I currently reading the following:

- Love & College/Ai Kora
- Gakuen Heaven (U-Jin verion)
- Kami No Mi/The World Only God knows
- Aki-Sora
- Tona-Gura
- Change 123
- Rosario Vampire Season II
- Parallel
- Over Rev!
- 3.3.7 Byooshi

^ As everyone could see, my manga readings totally outweighs my anime viewing significantly! Is that a bad thing? Oh well...

vol5.jpg

^ A very easy to swallow series compared to similar genre mangas like Initial D and Wangan Midnight. :)

Ai%20Kora.jpg

^ I have to say, THIS SERIES DESERVE TO BE AN ANIME! Every turn of the page cracks me up! One of the best mangas I've ever read!

Gakuen.Heaven.(U-Jin).357359.jpg

^ Gakuen Heaven (U-Jin) is a very good hard-ecchi/soft-hentai series. The artwork is up to par with Love Hina & Ikki Tousen. [ADULT]

anime_manga155577.jpg

^ As the story progresses, this series deliver. Each chapter is gripping as the story gets serious. Very good and highly recommended!

230px-Aki_Sora_Japanese_Vol_1_Cover.JPG

^ This story is decent, and the art works are even better. This soft-hentai is a rarity, the artwork isn't like a typical hentai, but more like love-comedy setting. Warning the characters are messed up in a whole new level! Psych-majors should take notice! [ADULT]

rosariogb00bry4in5.jpg

^ The story gets very serious as chapters goes by. But the story is very well structured, and flows in an excellent manner.

tonaguravol37zk.jpg

^ This is a very cute series. Very light-hearted, easy reading manga. The wackiness is similar to Love Hina.

Chage123HifumiandMotoko.jpg

^ Another series that DESERVES TO BE AN ANIME. Of all the shoenen-type mangas, this has got to be the best balance of both genres!

337byov01covercp0.jpg

^ The harshness of real life in Tokyo are exhibited here. But don't be mistaken, this is not a seinen manga. It has all the easy readability of most stories mentioned above.

0.jpg

^ Its like Onegai Teacher, but without the aliens, or any of the sci-fi mumbo-jumbo.

-> As for the others like Wangan Midnight, Bleach, & Initial D. I'm holding them off for the moment...

:sly:

Over Rev is kind of disturbing to me. You'd know why if you read my race story.

(For those short on time, it happens to involve a blue AW11 MR2 with a supercharger. Yeah.)

Rosario + Vampire Season II is amazing, it was sad to find out the anime couldn't be like it.

Still watching Fortune Arterial... and I'm on episode 14 on Gintama. Funniest anime I've watched so far.

^ No problem bro! ;)

Anime Update -> Currently, I'm still watching Bleach episode 271 as conviniently as I can. I might start watching all the Haruhi Suzumiya series (Nyo-on, Haruhi-chan, & Season 2) again. Or should I finish Wangan Midnight or continue watching Minami-ke 2nd season...

Manga Update -> I just finished Paralell. The ending was nice, but it left me wanting more (I bet these are the issues of most manga series I've been reading lately). I might restart/continue on reading Love Junkies, Pastel, & Yuria 100 Shiki.

Pastel

Love Junkies [ADULT]

Futari Ecchi & Yuria 100 Shiki [both ADULT]
yuria-100shiki-to-be-adapted-in-unspecified-video-format-updated.jpg

^ I'll continue on reading Yuria 100 Shiki but I'll putting Futari Ecchi on the side for now. :) (NOTE: books on pic are NOT mine)

a Trico Pro -> Yeah, Rosario Vamipire Season II anime was a half-baked effort, totally dissapointing. If the anime producers/people followed the manga 90% of the time, it would end up like Bleach or Naruto...I'm still waiting for the next chapter since the manga itself doesn't have that much of the fanfare compared to Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai manga. :indiff:

Rykon Zero -> Oh, you also write stories too! Nice! I've been struggling on writing mine. I hoping to turn it into a full-fledge manga in the future. ;)

happyyotsuba.jpg

^ Ah! Cute little Yotsuba-chan. Its been a while I haven't read your adventures (last time was volume 4)... :indiff:

:sly:

I like Over Rev, wished they would animated it. Um who here has seen Samurai Girls? It is awesome. :D Now its bed time, for me. --- Randy

To think we can talk about H-related stuff on here but I like Futari Ecchi. Sadly, I never read the manga.

^ My friend, FE anime is more of a situational-type story. I have the complete series and it was a short dissapointing series. It made it worse when I started reading the manga, the manga was lightyears more superior compared to the anime version. :indiff:

-> The manga version was a mixed of situational and textbook-like storyline about that. The story can also be used an an intruction manual for doing that also. When you read FE, read it as hard as you can, you may be able to apply these techniques in real life! :boggled:

^ pare,It will be creepy to apply those techniques in real life since my ex loves reading FE.

Hyakka Ryouran?

I was just going to post about it!

It honestly reminds me of Rosario + Vampire...though it's not categorized in Harem, it fully is a Harem....Where all the women can fight, except for one until she is unleashed by the male protagonist...everyone is attached to the protagonist in some way, in R+V it was affection, here it's that and the pact to being a master samurai along with their loyal servants. I also booked Yukimara's voice actor to be that of Shana, little rude girls lol

Aw yeah, Hyakka Ryouran. I'm watching it. And I like it. Yukimura ftw! :x

BTW:
Has anyone read "Houkago Play"?

1cover00.jpg

It's one of my favourite manga.

Just got the 2nd volume from a package my Japanese friend sent me.

Passed on this the first time I noticed it, but you made me look again. Now I'm hooked. Love all the references, tho I only get 1/3 of them. Very clever and funny, and at the same time philosophically revolutionary/anti-establishment in a way I very much appreciate (okay maybe I just like how the show is supportive of being mostly a lazy good for nothing and occasionally an accidental hero according to the whim of the moment and people will love you for it...)

^ Oh, I bet she has the skills now... :nervous:

^ I agree, R+V is considered as a harem. Moka (outer/fake, and lately inner/real), Kurumu, Mizore, Rubi/Ruby, & Yukari clings on to Tsukune like theres no end! And along the way, everyone except Ruby/Rubi bicker each other, similar to Love Hina, Ai Kora, & Ai Yori Aoshi. :)

We should make a SOS brigade !
^ I'll be in charge of the Mikuru Fan Club. :dopey: :boggled:

Lol... I miss this thread as well. :guilty:
But then again, I rarely get to watch anime nowadays either. Currently there is Toaru Majutsu no Index 2, Ore no Imouto, Panty & Stocking, Ika Musume & some other anime I can't bother mentioning. Damn, I wish I had more time to watch all these anime... :(
