So has anyone caught on or noticed that CN put a few new shows on last night.

Specifically Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex & Full metal alchemist.

I'm really glad these two came to cable.

Unfortunately I didn't get to watch either of the shows (new schedule for life has me up before 8:00 wether needed or not :irked: ).

Anyway...
I've gotta run now but I will be back later.
Talk to you all then,
bye :D

Indeed, they took seed off and even though I never watched it and wasn't a fan of what I watched, I can still empathize with you... I hate when "they" take off shows I like. :irked:

Fortunately for me I haven't had much trouble with that lately.

In fact,
Kenshin is back on. :D
Then with the other 2 shows being newly aired. :trouble:

That's also ignoring how G4 Tech TV is airing ROD and Gungrave (both of which I have been watching when I had the chance).

All in all I would really have to say that the state of American Cable Anime is better than anytime in the last year or so.

I mean for once CN seems like they can keep us all entertained without relying on their fall back hit Cowboy Bebop.
(even though they still might be airing it lol)

Any way,
I'm out for now but hope to be back soon,
Till then,

I have seen the first volume of Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex and thought it is pretty good. What I have seen of Full Metal Alchemist is definitely good too (being that I have only seen like three episodes of it). So what time is Kenshin on now and what days?

How much of Gungrave have you seen GoKents?

Now let me think.... :D

Brandon is a normal dude still. (not sure if he is the one who becomes the super bad-ass from the games with the coat and all that crap lol)

Still a bad motha though. 👍
Not all of the show is great... It lacks in some of the dialoge, but suprisingly, the characters are really well done thanks to a simple and direct attitude.

Like the white suit wearing fella. Really cocky, has an agenda in every episode... I haven't seen much, but if I'm right about brandon being the super natural hero from the game, then I am also willing to bet that brandon loses his life thanks to the cocky little bastard betraying his dear friend: brandon. :(

Sad story, and even sadder if I just got the jist of it right without having seen the series (please tell me I am wrong   )

Still though, I love the fact that for once the characters of a series are well defined enough for the average viewer to see beyond what has already happend and maybe even look deeper into a person's character (not in the story, but as an individual ).

Subtle yet effective. Of course at times that same sort of thinking can lead to a dull series with none of that "originality luster." lol.

All in all gungrave seemed cool, but only extended viewing will give me the experience I need to fully judge it. ;)

Ok... one more thing vash... Kenshin... Think it was on at about 10:30 or 11... maybe 10 lol. Good luck with it next week. 👍
(it started from episode 1 again, so don't sweat it for now, but make sure you get on top of the schedule before kenshin starts in on the kyoto story. )
(that first fight with seito is amazing. 👍 *I recorded it on vhs because it was so good lol).

Any way... Gotta run, that I do. :D

btw, anyone recognize the avatar? lol ;)

I have not seen a lot of Gungrave, as I just have not had the time to watch it at all. But Brandon is "Beyond the Grave", which I guess is the character from the game. If you watch the very first episode of the series again, the opening part of it is Brandon when he is "Beyond the Grave". The lack of dialogue is part of the series, especially from Brandon.

Of all the reviews I have read, I have heard the series gets extremely good. Though I cannot really confirm this. I would say definitely keep checking it out though.

Yes, Kenshin freakin' rules, especially the first fight with Saitou. The two of them go nuts. Did I ever mention that I have most of RK on DVD? I have two of the three arcs right now and i plan on getting the one I need some time soon.

Welcome to GTPlanet and the General Anime Thread! Enjoy your stay here and feel free to look around everywhere!

(w00t! A girl is now in the thread! Yay! LOL! :dunce: )

Anyone been watching Full Metal Alchemist? I sure have liked what I have seen so far. Oh and a friend of mine burned me an entire copy of the series; but much like the rest of my anime, I haven't had the time to watch any of it. (Man . . . has this thread died or what.)

Indeed this thread died, but right now I am pumping life back into it (I hope). :D

Welcome animegirl. ;)

Vash,
I haven't been keeping up with the fma, but I have managed to catch a few of the episodes. They were good and it seems like the story has potential. 👍

Keep an eye out for mid-week episodes too.
GITS:SAC & FMA are both getting re-run time in the middle of the week and it's been a great chance for me to catch up on all the new stuff.

Just in case anyone is interested.

Any way,
Back after I see some of you all get active in here again,
Till then,

I kinda like how they are showing the weekend stuff on Thursday nights now. It pretty much guarantees I will see the episodes aired one way or another.

Hey all,

As with the last time I posted, I am posting for the sake of keeping the thread alive.

You see, even though I do not post in this thread everyday, I always love anime.

Currently I am seriously dissappointed with techtv/g4 for their horrible anime line-up (not a fan of "last exile").

However, I feel the same as vash regarding thursday nights on adultswim. 👍

I've managed to catch a good bit of ghost in the shell and full metal alchemist is slowly becoming a favorite of mine.

The problem with fma (for me) is the "filler episodes."
Sure they are in every anime series, but with such a great story I find it hard to accept episodes like the last one (it was on a train ... can't say much more lol).

I've got a question...
Vash,
Do you know where ghost in the shell: stand alone complex is in its story and do you know if there are many episodes left?

The last episode kinda looked like it was a closing episode for the series... I hope I am wrong about that. :irked:

Any way, let me know what's up. :D

How come I wasn't impressed with Stand Alone Complex? Am I missing something or what?

I don't think the talking robots who sounded like children high on Ring Pops helped my impression at all.

You are not the only one who has taken a great liking to Full Metal Alchemist. I don't really mind the filler episodes. I like how they add to the character development.

I haven't watched enough of GITS:SAC to know where exactly it is in the series (other than the last episode was the sixth one); but I do know there are at least 26 episodes in the series. I don't really think they could have ended the series on the last episode anyways, as there are too many holes left in the story. Though it might help if I actually took the time to watch Ghost in the Shell and see what holes it might actually fill me in on.

You mean you don't like the Tachikomas? I find them to be pretty funny at times.

I'm glad to hear that the series isn't a short one.

I was afraid that it would be something like gundam 0080 where only 6 episodes were made... A mini series if you will. :sly:

Also, I took the time to really pay attention to GITS:SAC looking for those talking robots.

After actually noticing what you all were talking about I thought to myself, Damn!
Those robots were not used at all by the division in the original movie. (not sure about the manga lol)

However, even though I did like them to some extent, I thought it was odd that the creators would pick up on how badass the tanks were and end up using them as characters in the story (rather than just tools used by criminals).

ATM I don't have much more to say, but I can certainly say that after tomorrow there will be plenty to talk about...

Thank god for saturday anime.
Without it would would rarely get anything new. :irked:

Ah, Touge Master...
Glad to see another wrs member in the anime thread. :D

Now to the anime.
Just watched Full Metal Alchemist... :boggled:

I was seriously unhappy to see what happend in this episode. :(

But on that same note, I am slowly developing great emotional attachments to this story. Just as with akira, the story of two "brother-like" fellas overcoming adversity is truely touching.

It rips me apart when I see brothers dealing with issues like what we see in these stories.
This is compounded when things end up like what happend in todays FMA.

Right now GITS:SAC is on and I plan on watching it, so maybe I will be back later tonight, but if not, probably tomorrow.

Till then,

This episode of FMA was good but it was very dark and disturbing
I heard that it was somewhat on the dark side but this was unexpected.Stilll one of my favorite anime's and i'm a tough guy to please when it come's to anime. As for GITS:SAC it's really not my type of thing. :indiff:

No problem lol.
Not every anime is for everyone. ;)

Personally, I wasn't too sure about ghost until tonight... Now, after this episode, I am absolutely sure that this series is awesome.

The action of this episode was so kick-ass I can't describe it without using repeated cursing and millions of exclaimation points!!!

Damn I was amazed at how well the violence and hand to hand combat was done.

Two big thumbs up for this episode. 👍 👍
And if the series can manage to continue in the footsteps of this episode, two big thumbs up for the series in general. 👍 👍

Btw, after the first scene of combat I let out a huge "damn!" with a bunch of laughing afterwards... about 10 minutes later my brother came to my room, asked what was up, got the story and then called my a pyscho lol.

So you didn't expect that to be what Nina would turn out to be? I knew almost right as I saw her, she has something to do with alchemy.

I definitely did not expect her fate to happen though. I was absolutely sickened and saddened by the shear carelessness of her father.

Though I did like how the episode showed how power and money can be a corrupting force.

FMA is definitely one of my favorites. Some of the faces the series give are truly hilarious. Not only that, but Ed and Al are just great characters and are exctremely hard not to like.

This episode of FMA was good but it was very dark and disturbing. I heard that it was somewhat on the dark side but this was unexpected.

After watching this last episode of FMA, I kinda expect the series to have many sad/dark parts.

YES! Last nights episode was a good one.

I don't watch much anime, and I haven't been following the thread, but heres my random anime "I watch" contribution.

Use to watch robotech when I was a kid, that's what started me into anime. I watched a few initial D's with my brother. I've seen every episode of Cowboy Bebop, and still have the movie saved onto zee computer. C.B. so far has been my favourite. Watched every episode of Hellsing which wasn't bad. I've tried tagging along with Gundam Wing but I didn't get too serious into it. On a sorta different medium, Hayao Miyazaki is a god. Princess Monokoe and Spirited Away are all that i've known from him (tell me if there's more worth checking out). That's about it. I don't have any stations up here that play any good anime, whatever I watch I have to download.

Starting to watch Naruto.I watched episode 113(or was it 114)and it reminded me of a DBZ episode.Guy 1(sorry don't know their names and it makes it less confusing than saying 'one guy') was strong and was slaughtering Guy 2,then when Guy 1 thought he won the fight. Guy 2 changed into a stronger form(which looked somewhat like a saiyan)and beat the crap out of Guy 1.After that Guy 1 took some red pill (which reminded me of a senzu bean) and proceeded to beat the crap out of Guy 2.In the end Guy 2 was dead and Guy 1 died becase of something to do with the pill. This is just the opinion of someone who only saw one episode of this great anime (so please no flames :)).Already downloaded episode 2-4 and going to watch those now.
