The comment in question mentions the Senna challenges. You suggested there should be difficulty levels.

Why would there be any need for difficulty levels, if there is nothing to win?

Do you really think everyone should be able to beat Senna's times in those challenges?
Of course not. Challenges set by PD should have set times to beat, and damn difficult ones too. Like the old days.

Their Career mode however should have a plethora of difficulty options to tailor the bulk of the game to everyone, the more difficult you make it, the higher the reward for you.

I think this is the direction that PD need to take in order to stay fresh. Provided they can program decent AI of course.

They should keep their set challenges like they did in GT4, in a separate section, and damn hard to beat.

You didn't play any games in the 90's or even 80's did you?
Games back then were very hard and unforgiving.
And there was no way to saven your progress.

once got grounded for a week for yelling at my mom when she had turned off my MSX when I was at school, houres of Alpharoid down the drain... :(

Just because that's how it was done back then doesn't mean that it's the best way to do it. You'll notice that pretty much every modern game includes saves and other features to make the gameplay experience more forgiving. Why do you think that is?

It's hard to understand where you are coming from, you change your stance every post.

Again, options. Why do you have to win something? I setup my own races on PC Sims all the time and have a blast setting my own challenges for me and my mates to try and beat. Nothing to win, but damn fun.

Are you ok John?

I am fine Jimi, Thanks for your concern.

Let me break it down for you, so you may understand.

CHALLENGES: Set times or goals to beat, No difficulty adjustments

CAREER: Races, and race series' to beat, difficulty adjustments to cater to everyones preferences - oops, sorry about that big word Jimi, let me simplfy for you - To make it so that everyone what plays the game can make it be fun for themselves :sly:.

I never said that was the best way, I just wanted to get the point across that it's not the end of the world if you don't beat the game. :D

PD needs to take note of this article, it highlights all the amazes of what they could learn from reading it!

http://au.ign.com/articles/2014/09/11/11-free-tracks-coming-to-driveclub-after-launch

First game in the series and they've already blown the doors off the so-called industry leader on the DLC front:
As outlined on PlayStation.Blog, Evolution will add 11 new tracks with 23 routes to Driveclub for free following its October release. This will also include an entirely new location. Driveclub is set to initially feature 55 routes over 25 tracks. Evolution will also release nine free cars for the game, with a new vehicle available every month from October 2014 to June 2015. One of these, it would appear, will be the new Mercedes-AMG GT, the newly-announced twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 911 rival that will be available in Driveclub before it’s available in the real world.

Time to whine about GT6. This game is so much unfun. Unless you have some PSN friends, this game is absolute boredom. Even GT5 brings me some amazing memories, this so criticized game, I played it too much, spent so many hours. At least it was far more complete at its release. It was PD's biggest mistake to release an incomplete game to a community that wants as much.

I was watching the Sierra replay and noticed the replay camera angle thats real close to the car and rotates around it. Never liked it but didnt understand fully until now. They're sucking the player out of the race to show off their work. Its astounding that they think so much of their car models that they're willing to black out everything that matters, like the race, so they can zoom in on their car models and show them off, snatching the player out of the experience so they can beat their chest.

Hmm haven't looked at that post but I grabbed the update today and yeah... Nothing special, not real impress with it could either take it or leave it - that's the Sierra track. Had a crack at the new Toyota time trial, what's with Bathurst? It's flat and arcadish looking plus had trouble driving on it with all of those weird shadows that flash up?

As far as difficulty goes, didn't Forza or Sega GT have a system where you got a larger bonus the less drivers aids you used? And you got a bonus for a clean race and took money from you for damage? I really liked that system but i can't remember which game it was.

I cant speak for Sega GT, I never got to play it much.

Forza on the other hand, had exactly what you are referring to. It did it well too.

Grid Autosport has this. Every aid affects your bonus multiplier and you have to pay for damage eventually. I liked it. Encouraged clean racing and rewarded higher difficulty.

Hey Johnny,

Are you still playing Assetto? I found another cool track that you might like. Lake Louise.

I am but I only get a couple of hours a week unfortunately. I'm aware of Lake Louise and was going to download it one of these days. Looks like fun!

Taken some time out from visiting this thread. See it is still going strong. I've been out of the loop for a while but just read that GT7 is going to keep the standard/premium model and that you guys (those that bought GT6) are still waiting on promised goodies like the track editor.

For those long time followers of the thread that remember me, just saying see ya. Going to unfollow this thread (will leave it a day in case of replies). Haven't decided whether I'm going to find a thread dedicated to whining and crying about GT7 or just abandon the series altogether. Venting is good, but sticking around for the sole purpose of complaining about a series I've pretty much given up on is a bit pointless.

For me, it is the most fun track I have played on any game. It is the perfect mix of hill climb, open road, fast sweepers blah blah blah. It is driving heaven!

I have abandoned the series. Although it feels good not to have to worry about the ridiculous shortcomings of the game. I still love to point out the sheer pile of dog doo that GT now is (IMO of course)

What a wonderfully cheerful disposition. And why would you "worry" about the game's shortcomings? Surely GT isn't some test that you have to take in physics next week that your grade completely depends on. It's optional. You get no penalty for not playing the game. So why worry?

When I used to play GT, I would be always sitting there with friends, and we would always say, "gee, it would be good if GT had this or that" or "I cant believe they did this or that!"

Now that I dont play it anymore, I dont get frustrated by its lack of features and soul.

Moving on from the series and taking my blinkers off was the best damn thing I have done when it comes to driving sims.

Dont get me wrong though, seeing GT turn into what it has become is hard to watch, but hey, if Kaz wants to destroy the series with his 'Vision", by all means go ahead. He is already doing a damn fine job of that anyway.

GT fans: The official beta testers of Gran Turismo since 2010 and onward. Just saw the new update, and despite what PD did was right, at the same time I can't help but laugh. Seriously PD has messed up so much, I'm glad I've moved on from having to deal with all that BS. I honestly don't know how anyone can take all that from a developer, or any developer, especially when said developer releases updates that comes with bugs and glitches...

So sad, so very sad.
