I'm a radical critic of PD. But I do think that GTA is an awesome idea. My gripe with it comes from the fact that whenever I decided to put some laps in this thing it shows how crappy and average driver I am :guilty:.

And become a real racing driver was always my dream. So, it hurts a bit.
No worries man. I totally respect that. 👍 I also think GTA is a cool idea too, but I just want PD to make Gran Turismo feel like Gran Turismo again. It sadly lost it after GT4. :(

So it seems a crapload of countries have been excluded from GTA this year for no apparent reason. Imagine if you're a dedicated GT fan that has been practicing the whole year, and you happen to live in one of those countries nobody ever heard of (like Canada).

Another good customer-binding move by PD :D

Nissan decides where academy is held. But don't let that get in the way of your hatred for PD.

I've tried that and when or.. IF... I do finally find an okay lobby it's laggy as hell or I can't see anyone on the track. I usually host lobbies but the same problems as stated above (previous comments) still happen frequently and I'd rather not have a lobby with 3 people and spend 90% of my time in the lobby just kicking people.

Hmmm, I just remembered, I live near Japan so i don't have the same lag issue as you do. :D Well anyway, if you want good, well-mannered, civilized behavior when hosting lobbies, give me a heads-up. I'll join yours, though i can only play at weekends. Work takes up my time on weekdays. Ugh, work... :indiff::yuck::lol:

if you have stopped playing GT6 then why you on forum...

Nope. Some of us just keep checking back in the hope of some improvement.

Also, the opinions forum is amusing. So is the GT forum when the "leave Britney alone" brigade is out in full force.

I find this thread a lot more amusing/entertaining than playing GT6 it self!

Who's Britney also - I never have came across this dilemma of the "leave Britney alone" brigade. Could somene please explain it to us who do not know?

In this case 'Britney' would be GT. The 'Leave Britney Alone Brigade' would be.. For lack of a better term.. Fanboys of GT defending GT with their life. Hope that helped. 👍

No, that's not true.

According to @Imari, the leave Britney alone brigade is now the Gran Turismo userbase. The same Gran Turismo userbase that has been here on GTPlanet since Gran Turismo 3.

Whoa! I've been off the gaming world for a few weeks and now I see Forza 6 is going to be released this year!? Any news about GT7? PD seems to be following their own agenda, aren't they?

By the way, if Forza 6 manages to significantly improve over T10's latest instalment, I see no way for GT7 to catch up.
I think Sony better step up their game, otherwise PD's gonna kill one of their greatest franchises.

Yeah! PD should just kill the franchise because there's no hope for them with Forza 6 and PCars releases.

I warn you...if you watch this once you can't unwatch it...

I wouldn't say it's the entire GT userbase because I still play GT6 but I could really care less about GT, I believe that means I'm not part of the brigade. :p

You still play Gran Turismo 6 but not part of @Imari so called brigade. Same here!!!

I'm sorry, where did I say that?

I said nothing of the sort. I said I was amused by the antics of a certain extremely vocal minority of apologists.

Please don't put words I haven't said in my mouth.

Your right, I just couldn't understand this post...

Nope. Some of us just keep checking back in the hope of some improvement.

When I read your post, I was wondering who are these people?
So I thought this must be your regular GT6 user.

Last night I did my weekly club race, Ferrari 458 Italia at Rome.
It was a really tough race, heavy damage, strong penalties and very fast tire wear were enabled. 458 Italia is one of my favorite road cars, and I enjoy racing at street tracks, I won the race but it was tough keeping the car on the track, especially in the last couple of laps in both stints (18-lap race, I did 8 laps on SM, 10 laps on SH). Although very difficult it felt very rewarding to cross the finish line in 1st.

This is the type of experience I'd like to see PD including in GT's offline career & arcade modes. Racing with tire wear & heavy damage enabled totally changes the way one behaves during the race, the same could be said about standing starts & a balanced grid with everybody using the same car with same performance. That's a lot more "real driving simulator" than the dumb catch-up races against unbalanced grid that we see in GT6's offline modes.

It makes no sense to have sim options such as damage & tire wear but not being able to use them in offline races. I'm sure PD could easily fix that with an update, it just seems that they don't care about including proper races offline.

Becareful @tori we're not allowed to use that "term"... "they" get upset about it.

I warn you...if you watch this once you can't unwatch it...

I get what you mean by not being unable to "unwatch it." What is it? It has a moustache and ............ shavers shadow.

Nope.

You know how there's a small group who pop up from time to time and stalk through the GT6 threads being negative about any aspect of GT6 that someone happens to enjoy? I'm sure you've come across them.

There's also the opposite, a small group of people who pop up from time to time and stalk through the GT6 threads defending GT6 from any aspect that people might not enjoy, or that they might criticise.

Both groups are highly irrational, and will shout down anyone who disagrees with them.

I don't come across the first group much, because I know my own perception of GT6. I'm not a big fan of GT6, and so I try to stay away from threads that are people being positive about the game because I don't really feel the need to inject my opinion into things and spoil it for them. If people are enjoying it, then good for them.

I come across the second with reasonable regularity. You can see them if you read through the history of this thread, people come in here to tell everyone how they're wrong for not loving GT6 and it's the best game that was ever made and that PD sleep under their desks and work 25 hours a night slaving over a hot keyboard while Satan himself buggers them with a pine tree.

Sarcastic overexaggeration aside, that's the Leave Britney Alone Brigade. You may be able to see the relation to the video posted earlier, these are fans who will defend their product to the last breath, and will not tolerate any criticism of it, constructive or otherwise.

There's not a lot of them and I never said there was, but they are somewhat amusing in their stalwart defense of aspects of GT6 that are woefully out of date or just plain bad.

Worse, alot of options available in GT5.

This is unnaceptable, like shuffle racing.

I'm back to do some more epic whining. No crying here. Crying is for the weak. So here goes. Gran Turismo 6 misses out on features and content that made GT5 great. GT5 career mode was better for a start. GT5 had better car tuning settings with more detailed tuning parameters. car were way more fun to tune for all kinds of racing.

GT6 has poor and basic tuning settings in comparison. GT5 had a Course Maker. GT6 still hasn't got this feature. GT5 had Acceleration testing in the form of the Speed Test DLC pack feature they introduced. GT6 needs to have this to make me happy.

The online LAG in GT6 multiplayer experience. In GT5 was way better for racing. GT6 there is just more lag between EU / USA servers online. For example in drag racing I could get even trees or better in USA rooms on GT5. In GT6 now its not as easy. How do PD expect online racers from all over the world to have a smooth experience. Most people have internet that is more than capable of giving the smoothest experience.

Other than crappy A.I which is not worth playing against. Its crap. How can anyone possibly like playing a single player Career mode campaign when the game is not challenging. It's way too easy and the cars are like drones with no life to them. They all take the same line. Can you imagine playing without the Internet and multiplayer element? It's unimaginable for me.

Engine sounds are so utterly awful they belong back in GT1 or GT2 or GT3 or GT4. But we expect GT5 and GT6 to have made real improvements but no. Again Forza is seamless throughout the car catalogue. All cars have great sound.

Standard models is what I hate. Its abhorrent to me. Kaz is delusional with this. In Forza the whole experience is seamless throughout the car catalogue. All cars have premium detail interiors and exteriors. Not cars that have jaggies and look poor and others that look great. They ALL look great.

I do tend to defend Gran Turismo a lot and also look past the failings of any video game in general. What I see though, is GTPlanet is a dedicated gaming (among other topics) website for anything driving/racing related. This is unique.

This 'Leave Britney Alone Brigade' have possibly been here since Enthusia and Forza 1 (which I still own and play to this day) and most likely here to stay. Enthusia was deemed to have better physics and Forza better features.

This thread is designed to be negative and would be the best place to keep in harmony with your demeanour about the game. I just find those that are critical with Gran Turismo go on to other titles and find no failings or at least don't write or talk about them.

Yet, there are those who critizise Gran Turismo within this thread and still play it.

Video gamers....a strange group?

To critizise Gran Turismo doesn't mean you shouldn't play it.
A lot of people want GT to succeed and therefore offer constructive criticism which turned a bit negative when things such as the Q & A is taken away giving the impression of being ignored.

Tru dat:tup: I was constructively critical about GT5 and yet I put more time into that game than any other game I've ever played in my life. The Kaz Q&A Forum was a real slap in the face to any fan of the franchise, I'm honestly surprised that Kaz pulled the plug on it. I don't think it was a time issue, anyone could have written the answers with a little direction and editorial oversight from Kaz. A couple of paragraphs on most of them would have sufficed. I think Kaz read the questions and didn't have solid answers for most of them and/or didn't have answers that would satisfy the fanbase so he just quit, rather than tell the truth and possibly face a fan revolt. Pure speculation of course, but the fact that no apology was issued from Kaz tells me that he doesn't give a hoot about connecting with the fans in general, and GTPlanet in particular.

Have no problem with those who criticize the game they play, if they spend their time and money criticizing their game, good for them but I don'y play video games and criticize while playing....pointless.

The 'Q and A', people were being too aggressive, might as well have been called the whining and crying thread. GT will succeed, just not the way you want it.

Care to share a few examples, at least? Having followed the forum until its closure, the tone was anything but aggressive in the threads that got the most votes and where there still was an ongoing discussion at the time. It was well moderated too.

Edit : If there ever was any 'hostility', that's probably due to Kaz's inability to answers the questions within a reasonable time frame.

A blatant, outright falsehood. Every one of the top questions was well thought out, well written and very politely worded on top of being a topic of valid concern. Most of the discussion in every topic was the same. In fact it was the most polite, well behaved forum in all of GTP IMO.

This is what I believe @Imari is referring to when he references the "leave Britney alone" brigade. You're so blinded by GT and Kaz you can't see the forum for what it was and every little bit of negativity outweighs the positivity 100:1. You probably believe it was a good and justified decision on Kaz's part to completely ignore us too.

Your honour, I rest my case:sly::
Now that Q a is gone, looking back I feel that it was a gauge to test the temperature on this particular website, maybe he didn't like the way it was going. Gran Turismo users(some of them) are pretty fanatical. No matter what he says or does, he'll get plastered.

The latest seasonal event at Cote d' Azur is attrocious! It's too hard and for the wrong reasons; the AI in this race is incredibly cheap, the tire restrictions are unfair considering the course I have to put up with, and my lord; 550pp is not enough. I get that PD is trying to make things more difficult, but messing up the AI and giving them a huge advantage in power & grip over the player is not the right way to do it.

If I want to be challenged, I want AI that will just fight me for a win and not by rubberbanding. This chase-the-rabbit system also has to stop! I want a fair challenge, not unfair challenge.
