The only problems i'm having with the demo are:

-Lack of 360 degree rotation around cars
-Instant Shifts after 3rd gear
-Frame drops after kicking up dirt or drifting

Sounds are a little better, lighting is much improved...not much to complain about.

fully agree,
also no kind of AA the flickering is awful... and still the narrow FOV...

framerate issues are there and that is one car on the track, also lower fps when in cockpit view ... I prefer rock solid 60 fps

Well said boss 👍 Yes it would be nice to view the actual car 360 degrees rather than just the front or rear. Though I have yet played the demo.....I trust most of you as we all want a better game only.

Regarding the demo, I have a couple of small niggles. The way the car loses grip doesn't seem quite right. Seems a bit on/off and doesn't feel quite right when you regain grip after taking it past the limit. Also donuts still do that wierd auto correct thing (instead of spinning perpetually, it will spin once, straighten up, spin again). Overall it's not bad though.

How you guys fairing in the global rankings? :)

"With the right handling model, the only entertainment you need is a circuit, a vehicle and the stopwatch."

Its this type of attitude which will ruin Gran Turismo, and I feel GT Academy contributed to it greatly.

Now that I think about it, the Madden NFL franchise started to go downhill once online was introduced in 2004, when people started buying the game to solely play online. At that point improvements to AI and other offline components started to become smaller and smaller, even tot he point where they did not patch offline bugs in franchise mode.

So I guess now Gran Turismo is a hot lap simulator. Such a shame. If hot lapping was so great, then after F1 qualifies they should give the trophy to pole position and send everyone home. Its all about the racing...

You sir are right on absolutely every level 👍

Have a cookie.

Can't hold an opinion on Madden beside the fact that it's another EA same old same old franchise. Gran Turismo should not become Madden...

I love how the author of the article called called GT's A.I. an "irrelevance" because the physics are so good...

Sure, if the the A.I. is an irrelevance, then so must GT5's A-Spec mode. And therein lies the problem. GT has become just a simulator of driving physics and that's about it.

GT Academy is the clearest example of Kaz's dream; MY video game is so "realistic" that everyday gamers can become a professional driver! Woo hoo! And then the actual remaining gameplay, because after all, it's a damn game we're playing, lags so far behind; customization is lost in an eccentric developer's mind. The carlist has been stuffed with JDM cars and few supercars. Koenigsegg not in GT? The most recent RUF is a 2000 standard model? There wasn't any rally events in A-spec... Weather/time change was rarely utilized, as well.

It's all a bit sad to see, especially coming from a gamer who first experienced GT1 as a young boy. And GT6 has a long hill to climb (for me, at least). From the interviews, it seems PD want to make up for it with tons of DLC and updates. Tons of DLC is a double-edged sword and I think we'll be seeing the sharpest side of the blade.

@Earth and Corvette conqueror.

Some good points there. While I do enjoy hot lapping a lot (have spent countless hours just lapping Nordschleife) there are areas which need some drastic work. I too am sad that there is such an emphasis on online gaming that the offline experience suffers from it.

The A.I. in Gran Turismo is poor and there is very little excuse for it to be. OK programming A.I. isn't easy but there have been examples of good A.I (particularly on PC) in other titles since the late 90's.

I find Kaz doesn't look at other titles to see what they are doing that people like. He also doesn't seem to take much notice of consumer feedback (people have been complaining about the A.I. for years). I have read interviews where he speaks of his "vision" for Gran Turismo. Yes he has given us great things, but he has also fallen out of favour with some players (one of my best friends being one) through his continued pursuit of his "vision". Look at the steadily declining review scores from aggregate sites. He needs to accept that his product has become something huge and as such needs to take into consideration the "vision" of his audience.

That is how a car should do a donut with slick tyres, all trough on normal street tyres the spin should be constant.

Y'know, the two recent comments about the focus being online now confused me. I see nowhere in GT5 where online is being pushed. It's there, I agree but I've hardly ever used the function, only with a group of friends.

Okay, there were issues with it but those have been highlighted for improvement in GT6. I'll see what that brings, of course but yeah - I still don't think it's the main focus to the detriment of everything else.

When I replied to those comments I was talking about games in general. However whether or not it is because the amount of time spent developing the online (which I have not played) there are elements of the game which require attention.

The A.I. as mentioned is still poor and (this is a personal gripe) there is very little in the way of options to customise a race to your liking. I for one think the arcade mode could be improved dramatically by giving us the option to hand pick opponents. The ability to set up some kind of custom championship would be a nice feature also.

You guys pretty much nailed it. The second paragraph of that article is sickening. If the future of GT is to become a time trial simulator that tries to make real race car drivers in the process while putting half-baked features on side, then I think the series will be in trouble sooner or later.
