That red Lark livery is sexy.

[naughty]I'd smash that car all night along.[/naughty]

LM wow most beautiful super-sport car!!!! :dunce:

It's not the most beautiful super-sport car in the world, it's the only real super-car in the world:sly:

I'm not even sure if I count the Mclaren F1 as a car. It's something more, something that cannot be described in words, a wonder of the modern world, a legend:)

I hate when people compare the Veyron with the F1. The Veyron is very very fast Volkswagen, nothing more:(

Look at that tire profile! Yet it still looks great.

And the A-pillar mirrors too. Sweet zombie jesus, DO WANT. It's safe to say if my numbers ever come up, forget hunting for any of the modern supercars (One-77 excepted), I'd be exploring any possible way to own an F1.

I know right I don't know what size wheels are on that car but I bet it would look sweet with some 19's on there. And yess the mirrors look cool that high up. I bet it is odd looking into them from the middle of the car.

Has there not been video or a picture of the cockpit of this car in GT5 I can't find one?

Why? It's as much a technical marvel of this decade as the F1 is in its.

Because I think that the F1 was more then just a technical marvel. The F1 was the beginning and also the end of something, and it also had a soul like almost any other car from the past.

The Veyron is just a technical freak produced in a laboratory. It may be the fastest car in the world but something is missing. It's too clean, too "perfect", it's boring....

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since the last time I posted on these forums.
We are all aching from anticipation while waiting for this game to finally come out...

I have some interesting news:

A colleague of mine, whom is onsite at Mclaren Hq in Woking England, blew me out of the water when he told me that he saw a Gran Turismo crew there today.

They were a large group of Japanese employees (obviously) scanning and taking pictures of the Mp4-12c and the F1-GTR.

Here is a post some of you might like. This was way back in February.

Yeah, I remember that post too mate, but that doesn't mean they'll get the cars ready for the game in time. Let's hope they make it happen.

You're always cautiously optimistic.

Let's hope the extra 7 months has lead to these 2 cars making it into the game.

My bet is: Yes.

, Cautiously optimistic, I quite like it.

Yeah, judging by the longer waiting time, they should have finished those cars, and the LFA, and the HSV and the Maserati GranCabrio. But I'm still waiting for november to see what's what. Cautiously optimistic, as always. :D

They already had the F1 by then, so couldn't they work on the GTR by using the already made F1 body? Saves some time.

They'd have to model a bunch of vents & completely re-model the interior. If PD wants a '96 model, they'd then have to remodel the bodywork on the front & rear as well as a new splitter.

Meh, i'll wipe the floor with the MP4-12C in the 458 anyway :p

Yes, agreed. I bought the 1/43 Minichamps diecast of that car over 10 years ago exactly for that reason... the livery 👍. Though in my model, the red is more florescent... almost like a florescent red/pink.

Discuss.

It's funny I had heard that as well from a friend and I was really pleased but he told me never to post it but since you have what the heck. He even showed the letters that they had between Mclaren and PD.

IIRC, the original model came with 17's. The LM had 18's.

:yuck: to the suggestion of 19's going on there, though!

you're right, it has to be at least 20's!

Because the actual colour is florescent pink, it just looks redder in photos because of the camera/your computer screen.

The color of the McLaren in GT5 looks so dead, and it, it, iiittttt,,, allmoostt, lllloookkkss like, oh for a lack of better words,,, Standard! (Crowd in background screaming, some people fall out of chairs having seizures...)

I'm surprised how slow the Mclaren F1 is around Tsukuba, and how much pitching and body roll it has!

I recall taking numerous cars around Tsukuba in a GT game much faster than that, and off course plenty of Tuner cars in real life get below 1 min. Including a few that Kaz owns :)

I have a feeling the F1 will not be as fast, and handle as well in GT5 as people expect, based on legend

The F1 is only 20th fastest on Tsukuba on this list with a 1:04.62

Where did all those 600+ horses go? There are less powerful and heavier cars kicking it's ass and reaching higher top speeds!
Modern suspension really makes that big a difference?!

And this Mines R34 GT-R does a 0:57 time

Evo magazine tested one with modern tyres (as used on the Enzo) and it lapped at modern super/hypercar pace. I'm pretty sure it's all down to the original spec of rubber used.

Judging by the times on these tracks, the Nissan GT-R really is a supercar slayer for the price, it's right up there with the supercars!
No wonder it's so fast in Prologue :)

Speaking of vids, does anyone have the full-version of the F1 test done by Mika Hakkinen? The infamous one where he said "you can hear the turbo whistling..."? I know it was edited and whatnot, but I just wanted to see the original thing.

Body roll galore! Judging from replay vids, the GT5 virtual version doesn't roll as much

I noticed as well. Some cars seem stiffer and less alive in GT5 than in real life. 👎

Tsukuba is a very high, handling-oriented track. Lots of power doesn't mean much on it. The Mine's laps the track well due to a very good track setup from the company.
