I thought the F40 in Prologue was such a handful to drive lol. I didn't have fun with that one.

It takes time, a lot of time. When I first drove this car with pro-physics, I couldn't possibly imagine how to drive THAT really fast around a track and I hated it, but after practicing I got pretty fast with the car and it became A BLAST! When I later tested all cars on Suzuka (except the tuned ones, F1 and Citröen GT), it even was on the 10th place behind the Ford GT, the other Ferraris, the Nissan GTR and some others.

To keep this at least tangentially related to GT itself; I fully expect my F1 (and I will be hunting it down ASAP, not just the pre-order bonus, my own chosen colour model) to be one of my highest-mileage cars. Awwww yeah.

I've already decided to go for a silver one, and hopefully catch a glance of the engine bay with its actually real gold heatresisting foil wrapped around it which was simply chosen because gold was the best heatresisting material ( always loved that fact, only the best will do ).

Yeah, one of my first goal's was to capture the gold, actually 👍

I'm partial to that dark purple McLaren was fond of back then. I'd love a Papaya Orange option, though I'm pretty sure that was limited to just the LM's. There was also a dark turqoise in Evo lately, which I'd also rock.

Who am I kidding, I'll probably just hunt down nearly every colour. But those are my first choices .

:lol::lol::lol: Yeah me too actually.👍

Well sad as it may sound the McLaren is probably the only car which colour I've already decided on ( and the original prototype shown was silver and it suits the lines perfectly, although I do prefer silver or dark metallic "colours" in general on cars ).
I was planning to contain myself this time regarding having the same cars in multiple colours like I did in GT4, the only exception being different interior colour options when available and I'm sure the McLaren having just one so it will probably be high mileage after a few months.;)

I could swear it only had around 470. You're probably thinking the FINA GTR from GT4.

470 is more like the torque figure. It was rated at 627. There is no way it would have hit 231 or 241 mph with that cd with only 470 bhp.

The roadcar had 627hp, the LM had 680hp and the racecars would've had around 600hp, although the racecars did wear engine restrictors for parity reasons which limited how much power they had which without them the racers would've produced over 700hp.

I dont care if the McLaren F1 in GT5 isnt as fast as some of today's cars, its a moot point to me personally, I love the car and I will endeavour to buy every F1 in GT5 in every color.

Fingers crossed for a Gulf GTR (longtail would be nice but short tail would be fine also)

Premium or Standard?

What is your guys' bet?

Yeah, same here but I believe that the F1 won't be an easy car to get, it may be the prize for a huge championship or a tough enduro, likely.

Was there a vid which showed an orange F1? Not sure if its the exact shade as Papaya... or it could be a metallic orange. I'd be tempted to start with an orange F1, but I think it only works with the LM. ahhh... can't wait.

By this point, you can have almost any color you want done to a F1 & there is indeed, a Papaya Orange F1 now out there.

With the "Tuning" part of the game, perhaps it will include the HDF kit for the F1? DIY your LM!

Also, would love to see Ron Dennis' prototype (side mirrors on the A-pillars) make an appearance, but I doubt that'll happen.

Could be a possible Race mod for the base model... (drools:p)
I doubt the longtail would be a 'mod' since they essentially have different chassis'.

So hopefully at least 3 models in the McLaren dealership... standard, longtail and 12C. An LM in there would be :O

It could be classed as a racing mod though.. since they are bringing it back..

I agree that if it isn't an option then to have all versions would be a plus though 👍

They could include the FINA McLaren F1 race car that was in GT4 under the McLaren dealership now though. And who knows whether or not PD will be able to include any F1 cars as well :sly:

They could from 2008 backwords, and they could also but the 2009 license as I know that codemaster have lost it.

Look at that tire profile! Yet it still looks great.

And the A-pillar mirrors too. Sweet zombie jesus, DO WANT. It's safe to say if my numbers ever come up, forget hunting for any of the modern supercars (One-77 excepted), I'd be exploring any possible way to own an F1.

I really hope you can change the colour after you win it. I don't want to be stuck with a colour I don't like unless you can win the car again without too much trouble.

If I had any choice, I'd probably just get it in silver. Looks naturally beautiful in that colour, although the orange is a close 2nd. The dark green is also very nice (saw one in race on Madrid), and the red one on Top Gear Series 13 looked great as well.

Who knows actually, maybe I will be satisfied with any colour I get.

The side mirrors were actually an option (tough rather pricey at that).

That car will more than likely remain under BMW. The Fina F1 GTRs were all ran & helped develop by BMW Motorsport.

They were still McLarens though.

Otherwise you'd have to have Gulf GTC as a manufacturer, and Parabolica Motorsport for example.

Plus if they were to include the short-tailed GTR, then the FINA cars would come under Bigazzi, so surely it'd just make sense to have them as McLarens?

Yeah I think that the only reason the car was under the BMW dealership was just so that PD could include it in the game without having the McLaren license.

It doesn't work that way with these cars. The F1 in GT4 (Chassis #26R) when finished was sent to BMW Motorsport who "re-developed" the car to their needs which wasn't hard since they built the engines in the first place. Everybody else bought the car & worked with what McLaren gave them.

The only FINA-livery short tails that ran were owned by BMW Motorsport (#16R-18R) except 16R has been changed to Papaya Orange & sold off. The other 2 are still owned by BMW Motorsport in their USA & Germany collections.

Any cars BMW has since sold off could very well be put in under McLaren. But I wouldn't be surprised if any of the 3 or 4 they still retain would continue to be filed under BMW.

Why would it matter who owns them? As I said, if you think the FINA cars will be BMW's because they own them, then surely the other cars would come under whoever owned them at the time?

And the fact that BMW re-developed them is a moot point because in 96, David Price Racing took #03R and #06R and upgraded their cars with their own spec instead of either choosing McLaren's updates or taking 1996 cars, so would they come under DPR if the short-tailed cars were included?

Not intended to argue against you though by the way. :)
