I noticed as well. Some cars seem stiffer and less alive in GT5 than in real life. 👎

It's always been a problem, almost like the suspension can compress, but won't expand - e.g. roll is only achieved by compressing the loaded side, leaving the other side alone. Same for squat and dive under acceleration and braking, respectively.

It's improved slowly over the years, but still not there yet?

@CoolColJ: thanks for that vid! Naoki Hattori looks hilarious :p The nineties :scared:

Another thing to add about the Tsukuba lap times is that, in addition to a circuit-spec suspension set-up, the tyres and aero are two very important factors on that circuit (especially through Dunlop and that 80R sweeping left afterwards). Tyres have come on in leaps and bounds in recent times, and the F1 was deliberately slippery through the air.

I think there is body roll.
In that video you see tight turns, in GT5 we have WIDE turns, only tight turns so far are in the Eiger location, try there and you will see body roll all over, and that was in prologue, so I can only imagine body roll with Full version :)
You people complain way to much before looking at what kind of road was the real life using and wide turn racetrack.

Just watch the STANDARD CARS video if you want to see body roll.

^ Thats true what Dave said, also, did the cars in GT4 have that much body roll or is it down to the new physics engine?

Old cars had a lot of roll in GT4. But my point is the real F1 seems to have more roll than the GT5 version

Your point is invalid. You base a video based on tight turn track with lots of elevation changes, even turns are tilted.. GT5 demo almost all tracks are flat with huge angled turns.. Also could be different models? From year to year some cars may have different suspension settings. That car I think you can tune suspension when you buy it in real life.

"McLaren Orange"... mmm...

And lets not forget the MP4/20 & 21...
I really wished they would have kept doing this during the off-season testing... $$$ though. Oh well.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but the new NFS has the new McLaren car...here's hoping GT5 has it as well!

Speaking of vids, does anyone have the full-version of the F1 test done by Mika Hakkinen? The infamous one where he said "you can hear the turbo whistling..."? I know it was edited and whatnot, but I just wanted to see the original thing.

To be honest I don't know if there are more of these videos, and if this is original or not, but I found this clip on YouTube where you will here Mika saying "You can hear the turbo whistling" at 3:17 :)

Yeah, thats the edited version. The Japanese edited that interview out of context. Mika was probably talking about "hear the turbo whistling" regarding another car, but the editor just took that quote and applied it to the F1. I'm pretty sure Mika knew the F1 was an NA car. I'm looking for the original version of that interview.

Isn't Mclaren Orange the color used on the Mclaren F1 LM ??

^ You're right... With Kaz's attention to detail, its strange that they didn't go with the official name.

All LM's are Papaya Orange, but I suppose if you buy an F1, you're entitled to paint it whatever color you want.

Take this F1 for example... it isn't an LM.

I believe the 'Mclaren orange' is reffering to the colour of bruce Mclarens original race cars and not the papaya orange that has been seen on the F1 road cars.

Papaya orange was avalible on the F1 but according to my uncle who works for mclaren, mclaren orange has only ever been avalible on the mp4-12c.

So this leaves me to believe that the mp4-12c is in, along with the fact that my uncle told me that PD gave them the permissions to put the MP4-12C but he was un-aware if they were able to put it in as they expressed how it may 'be in a later GT game'

Any color is available on the F1 at a new owner's request & cost.

Witham ~ Thats pretty cool (uncle working for McLaren). May I ask, in what capacity?

I guess its only natural that they include the MP4/12C as well.

This makes sense... I'm sure Bruce wouldn't have specifically chosen "Papaya Orange" back then.

Lighting obviously is a factor, but I suppose "Papaya Orange" is more vibrant.

Technically the official name is 'Historic Orange' rather than 'Papaya Orange'.

Oh and not all LM's are painted orange. LM1 and LM4 are both black and silver with red/blue and orange trim.

Oh right... the "Sultan of Brunei" ones, right? There goes my F1 knowledge. :dunce:

He works as a go between from mclaren to ricardo, he gets info from designers or various parts they wanted modifing or making, then he goes to ricardo to gather the various information on how it would be done on a large scale production etc and sometimes if it would even be viable on a road car.

This is an LM (I think), but it isn't the same kind of orange

It's chassis #073, owned by Don Wallace in the USA.

It has an LM-spec engine, but it's just a normal F1 with the HDF-kit applied.

There is another normal F1 with an LM-spec engine, chassis #018:

I believe it's currently in New Zealand and owned by the owner of the Hampton Downs circuit.

Would be nice if we got the option to give the F1 the HDF-kit in game eh?

That's not Don Wallace's car. He sold his long ago. The car pictured next to the MP4-12C for the press photos at the factory is actually Don's old car.

It is (or was if he has indeed sold the car now).

The car from the MP4 photos was the last car made, #075 and I was under the impression whoever owns it still has very close ties with the factory, and the car has always been in Europe.

If I remember correctly, #075 was for sale in Switzerland a few years back but I don't know if it sold, perhaps it's always been a Swiss car?

welcome mcheaters. i think that there should be an option, when using a mclaren online you can steal other players car's setting and drive as Ron Dennis.

You are correct. For some reason, I mistook Don for Dan Kennedy who also owned a similar orange McLaren. :dunce:
