Because BMW Motorsport bought the rights & licenses to those cars when they acquired from McLaren. End of story.

Not intended to argue against you though by the way. :)

The term would be debate :)

I personally think those particular cars will be under BMW, and the rest under Mclaren. BMW as a manufacturer and engine supplier, bought those chassis and re-developed them to their own needs as Mclaren stated. Privateer teams didn't do this to the same extent. It's the same reason most/all of the Porsche race cars (In particular the 917, 956, 962 etc.) haven't been put in the game.

Licensing is about ownership, and none of the privateer teams can really claim ownership when they're sourcing chassis and engines (Among other major components) externally.

That Papaya Orange F1 is awesome, definitely my colour of choice.

Whilst I would be happy if GT5 has a paint shop (Because it is very annoying to buy a car and decide you want a different colour), I would miss the part of the game where I re-do an event to collect the different colours of each cars. Think back to the Formula GT in GT4, there were so many colours to collect :) I was thinking, maybe offer unique liveries for some of the prize cars, so there is still an incentive to go after them. But it's maybe too late in the development cycle for suggestions... meh.

Or unique colours, like the red STI in GT3? It'd be nice to see that particular feature return 👍

I don't recall, GT3 was so long ago :D

It has to be one or the other really, a paint shop, or unique colours for the difficult to obtain prize cars. I can't see how both could exist, unless the paint shop was very basic. Basic meaning just letting you change to another of the car's stock colours; which would result in certain cars only being available in one colour, again (Such as the Pagani Zondas in GT3 and GT4).

Is there a lamboghini thread somewhere?

Top right of the screen, type Lamborghini in the search box :)

Yes, there is one. but Lamborghini is old news, hence why the thread isn't active anymore.

The Pagani Zonda is a good example of needing more colour options ( in real life you have far more choice than silver only for your Zonda ) and I'm not sure as to why it was only available in one colour only.
A paint shop is however the best option not only for those cars whose colour options are limited in GT but also for those who are limited in real life.
For example the Ferrari F40 was only available in red although I know one example was delivered in a beautiful Ferrari yellow called "Giallo fly" which I prefer to the standard red and I've even seen a blue racing car and a later repainted in white one ( not sure about that one ), would love to try recreating the "Giallo fly" colour and repaint the F40.:)

I don't know if anyone remembers the selection of colours the zonda had in GT Concept 2002? The C12s had various colours, blue, yellow, orange, red and pink to name a few. Always wondered why it was omitted from GT4. (as well as a few other cars)

But I must tip my hat to PD on the colour selections they have for all the cars, as well as the actual official colour names too.

Here's hoping the McLaren F1 will be available in papaya orange...

I believe the F1 was sold with any colour the owner wanted. Since it'll be a 2nd hand car in GT5, I guess you won't have such a choice

I like it in LM Orange, Blue and silver. I've seen and touched a silver one in person, have plenty of photos of it, and it's a lot smaller than you think. Not much larger than your typical hatchback

Shouldn't change anything, really. Plenty of the F1s have been resprayed to a new owner's needs. These cars are practically the only out of production car left in the world that can still be re built for a new owner.

Should the LM be included, it'd be nice if you could respray it to look like the Sultan of Brunei's two black LM's and collect all six of them, though you'd have to put a little XP1 LM logo on one of them for true realism.

Agreed on all points. If we're not getting a proper paint-shop (as opposed to the idea of a basic, respray-option-of-the-stock-colours one), I wouldn't mind seeing unique prize car colours make a return. If a true paint-shop did come, though, we'd get something still slightly offensive to certain people; I could paint my Gallardo Rosso Corsa, or my Evo WR Blue, or other such blasphemous combos ;).

I never understood why we never saw the colour options again from GTC either. Boggles the mind, since PD made the effort to make them at one point. I know Pagani had a really quite tasty dark red for one of their convertible Zondas (was in Evo a few years back), I wouldn't mind seeing that as an option.

CoolColJ - Thanks, looks like I'll be hunting down the orange first!

I think that would look awesome :D

Blasphemer!

Got into GT5 mostly cause of the Mclaren F1, major buying factor. Not sure if anyone has a 3 million dollars but recently someone was selling the car on the auction.

Please don't quote big pictures if they're just above ;)

The F1 LM deserves to be in GT5, as a premium model of course...

They should make it sub-standard and only allow you to drive it from the bumper. I'm not sure I want to see something that will make me late for any dates.

'sorry I'm late but I couldn't help it'
'why are you so late?'
'I was staring at a thing of beauty and I couldn't take my eyes off it'
'was it a picture of me?
'no it was a car, it kinda makes you look like a trollop'
end of date

I would say that making an LM, if included, a Premium, is a sure thing... but seeing as how we're getting the Audi R8 4.2 and 5.2 as Premiums, yet the LMS as a Standard... who knows...

PD were seen at Mclaren scanning the GTR, so it's a good bet it'll be in

Just filling up my F1 GTR before a cruise :D
This will give you an idea how small it is, and it isn't very wide at all for a supercar. So it doesn't have much road presence.

Notice how the mirrors of the blue one I posted before are on the pillars instead of the body?
Must be one of the prototypes

As I just posted on the last page or so, they're an option. That car is actually one of the few F1s constantly driven & has even had some custom aftermarket work done.

Was just in a crash recently & being rebuilt.

The overall dimensions are actually quite similar ( except the height being lower ) to the original Porsche 911 ( also quite small ).
Ofcourse not the looks, think it's fair to say that it's the best packaged supercar and probably one of the best packaged cars of all time.
Anorak fact: when Gordon Murray started to develop the car he first went to Kenwood ( being an audiophiliac ) ordering them to come up with a unique top of the range sound system so he could design the rest of the cars interior around it and intergrate all aspects of it as he felt it was mostly done the other way around which he considered to be an afterthought.:)

That Orange LM is superb, after many year this car still has very modern styling, if you show a pic of it to someone who doesn't know anything about cars at all, he would say that this car is from the early 2000's. Seems like it's moving even when stationary.

I don't care how many manufacturers keep throwing turbo chargers at their cars until they beat the top end speed the Mclaren is still the epitome of hypercars.

Almost 20 years on since pen was put to paper and the car still looks modern and is still stunning. iam definitely looking forward to using one to hammer through some of the enduro races.

Might be a bit of a push to try and win the lemans enduro outright though.

Maybe it won't just be road cars or formula one cars that PD include. How cool would it be to see something like this make an appearence:

^ Bruce would be proud... 👍
