Genrally American's might like it more because it won't feature Brit humour, I doubt we'll find it very funny. Clarkson said TopGear is shown all over the world, Germany, Russia, Japan, but the only place they had to re-edit the show and re-do some scenes was for the US.

Well I might like it since yes there won't be any British humor, which I don't understand, and it won't be an hour of bashing America and there cars.

The only thing I hope the do keep is the awesome video footage and sweet filters.

But 20 bucks says it sucks

oh dear.... i bet it won't be a match for the almighty top gear though.

Oh man... that ****ing sucks. Why does everything have to be dumbied down for us here (in the U.S.).

The humour I understand you not getting, but why do you seem to think TopGear singles out American cars and pokes fun at them. They poke fun at cars wherever they are built, JC likes the C6 Corvette for example, he liked the Mustang he liked the Viper yet he thought it was rubbish at the same time. Just because they make a joke about American cars when an American car is being fatured, doesn't mean they single them out. They do it to British cars, German cars, Japanese cars, doesn't matter where it's built.

Clarkson, in particular, hates TVRs because they're hard to drive fast and all smell like glue. And have crap fit and finish. And break down a lot.

They don't actually break down a lot, that was the old AJP8 engined models, the interior finish needs to improve, the driving experience is a love it or **** your pant's one. Clarkson did like the Sagaris a lot, TopGear even named it the sportscar of the year.

Well, am I the only one here to find it funny when I see "dumbied" down in place of "dumbed" down?
(just kidding with you ;) )

Also, I hate to say it, but the jokes weren't the funny part about Top Gear... The funny part was hearing the blokes speak! ;)
(thought I'd even use "bloke" to get that point across)

Anyway, I don't think it will flop.

I mean, it might not rule the stations, but it certainly will not flop.
There isn't another show on with that sort of theme going (not many atleast).

Plus, we have to account for what a "flop" would be with a show of this type... Are there any car shows on U.S. TV that aren't flops?

If any, it can be many. :p

So I'm happy to see them bringing top gear to the states. 👍

I just hope the entire show is made the same way only by Americans with american writers and testers.

Now the Z06 will be able to shine or fail without "bias" taking the blame for its performance. :trouble:

I direct you to the Lightining episode which I saw for the first time the other night, he did nothing but rip on American's for having trucks. And he took the Lightining OFF ROAD!

But I guess different strokes for different folks.

Jeremy Clarkson is relentlessly sarcastic about anything and everyone. He rips on the American for being truck drivers, yes... but did you know? He just loved the H2... pointless in the UK, as it's too wide for some of the roads, and it's a huge guzzler... so much so that he bought one.

He also loved the Ford GT.

You should read what he has to say about Alfas... classic. Although he loves them, he has a lot of nasty things to say about his old Alfa.

You should read his columns... he rips on everyone, the Americans, the French, Brits.

Good news imo, more car shows can't hurt. I hope if it's good it gets shown over here: would be interested to see what they talk about and which cars they choose to review.

It'll never get shown over here, we already get TopGear, this one is specifically for the US audience.

Well we get 'American Chopper' on Sky which i can only hope is a program about bikes. Plus some hotrod program and others. I would hope it wasn't completely written off.

But we already get TopGear, there's absolutely no reason they would put American TopGear on our TV, it's pretty much a dead cert that we won't get it.

Not to mention, I'm american, and I have never had any problem understanding british humor... British humore has always been 1000 times funnier, and 1000 times less sophmoric and moronic than American comedy...

We must have watched different versions of the show, because all I saw was him talking about how useless the F150 was in Europe, and how it made more sense in the US... Your blinding patriotism is blinding you to all of this, me thinks...

Exactly... 👍

I have yet to see an Americanized version of a British show that wasn't terrible... I'm just glad I can download the British episodes off the net...

What? I clearly remember him saying it can't go off road and then driving through a huge mud puddle. And you make it sound like loving ones country is bad.

A lot of Americans think British people for the most part are pompus asses, while in return British people think for the most part Americans are idiots. Goes both ways, and personally I think JC is a pompus ass.

Here's a news flash, they can't really go off road, especially the RWD model he tested (Mud puddles are hardly "off road")... Loving ones country is great (I love the US)... However, loving it to the point of being blinded to anything else is moronic...

Yes, a lot of stupid Americans think such things, just like a lot of stupid British people also think such things... I do not generalise to such a degree because it just makes you seem ignorant...

I'm sorry you hate the original show so much, but a lot of us here love it, myself included... An Americanized version could be a good thing, but if History teaches us anything, it will fail miserably, or just be unwatcheable to those that loved the original...

He was still an idiot for critizing that it couldn't go off road, and it was more then just a mud puddel, it was a muddy road and such. But the scene showed him driving through a decent size mud hole...something a street truck should do.

And don't treat me like I don't know about the Lightining, because I do.

I'm not blind to everything else, I just don't like hearing American bashing humor. I don't find it funny and I think it's pretty stupid. Don't tell me I'm blind when I'm not.

Analyze a majority of people and get back to me. Also it comes down to experiences...I've had bad experiences with British people, so naturally I don't like them. It's easy to be a critic when you don't have the experiences to back it up.

you guys have to admit that topgear goes overboard with the american bashing sometimes. a few times they've said things that sound like what you'd here some idiot in some forum on the internet say.
reguardless i download every tg and fg episode because i do find them entertaining. :) still its better than some dumbed down uber PC car show.

No it doesn't, because if it cut that down it'd have to cut down Japanese bashing, British bashing and then all of sudden the whole show's changed.

Blazin, just for referrence, over here in the UK people don't buy open back trucks for general day to day driving, most they buy them for work purposes many of which require going off road, the fact the F150 can't go off road cut's out 90% of the market that buy trucks in the UK.

Oh I'm well aware of that, it's just that he took the Lightining, a street truck, off road and critized it's ability. He should have taken a normal F-150 off road and it would have been fine. Also if he didn't like in after that it would have made more sense.

And to say it's the worst vehicle he's ever test? What the hell? The F-150 Lightining is a sports car that can haul drywall.

He didn't like the F150, so what, he doesn't like most TVR's but I could care less, I still enjoy the show. I think the number of Lightening sales in the UK is still in single figures, I seriously do, like I said, we don't buy open back trucks for day to day driving. And yes, he could have taken a normal F150 off road, but at the time I believe that Lightening was just being introduced to the UK.

I don't know I still think its retard that one would take a street truck off road and then generalize.

He only made a joke, if he tested the 4wd F150 he would'nt just skip the test and say it's rubbish because he thought the Lighteing was, he'd probably make a joke about it though.

I don't mind people not liking the show, but I just don't get it when people say they don't like it because he bashes American cars, it's not personal and it's not like he only bashes American cars, if the show's not for you than fine but it's a generalisation that he hate's American cars because I can name a few that he liked.

I'm not saying JC is perfect, but from a UK standpoint, the F150 is pretty useless, why that's so hard for you to understand, is beyond me... Not to mention, Top Gear mainly test drives CARS.... In comparison, the F150 must have performed like a Sherman tank...

And don't treat me like I don't know about the Lightining, because I do.

Where did that comore from?... Now you're just grasping at straws...

That says it all... Ignorance...

I have heard you bash all manor of things, British, Japanese, Australian, and so on... Is that funny, or even acceptable?... Double standards my friend...

Analyze a majority of people?... What are you on about?... I lived in the UK, Ireland, Tokyo, Milan, Amsterdam, Paris, Heidelberg, and Frankfurt... I have a pretty good idea of how people generally act in said countries... I have never had a bad experience with someone because they are Irish, or British, or whatever... I have had bad experiences with PEOPLE because they are just generally hard to deal with, not because they are from a certain country...

Yes, JC jokes around a bit about Americans, and Japanese, and Australians, and so on... It makes the show light hearted... Just like most all American car shows make fun of everywehre else... I'm not excusing it, but it's not to be taken too seriously either...

It just seems to me you HATE the show, and that seems a bit strong, especially since you seem to have watched the show more than a few times...

We'll just have to wait and see how this new Americanized version pans out... I'm sure you will probably like it...

He only made a joke, if he tested the 4wd F150 he would just skip the test and say it's rubbish because the Lighteing was.

Exactly... Good call...

How much clearer do I need to make it....HE TOOK A STREET TRUCK THAT DOESN'T CLAIM OFF ROAD ABILITY AND DID JUST THAT. Hence my issue with it.

Where did that comore from?... Now you're just grasping at straws...

You made it sound like I had no idea about anything to do with the Lightining, I was just point out that I did.

That says it all... Ignorance...

Exactly, they bash America, I bash them. I never said it was any different. It shouldn't be acceptable, but it is. I hear people rip on America all the time, so I just return the favor. And I've never said anything again Japanese people, some of their cars yes, but never the people. I don't know any Japanese people, and the only one I know of on the boards is a6m5 and I think he's pretty cool.

Analyze a majority of people?... What are you on about?... I lived in the UK, Ireland, Tokyo, Milan, Amsterdam, Paris, Heidelberg, and Frankfurt... Guess we have a different veiw of people then.
