The Things That Annoy You

A little thing that has started to bother me more and more; we have these lovely background fly-bys when idling on a race screen, and we spend a while lot of time heating the roar of our car but very little time setting it. This might only be in Sport Mode.

I don't know why we can't have the image synchronise with the car's position a lot more...

I wonder is there a technical reason why we can’t use actual car colors for decals.
I really don’t know but I would love to be able to make decals in the manufacturer colors. It not a big thing but the fact that we can’t have different textured decals on a same car is sometimes annoying.
Also carbon paint being only for the full car when I only want the bonnet or the aero parts.

Pixel Shaders. If we could apply them to the decals it might be too many pixel shaders. For instance, we can already have one type of shader for the base coat, and a second type for the decals (eg. a matte metallic real paint, and glossy decals). I'm not 100% certain, but it's possible, because with 20 cars on screen, it's already too much to render. Add a myriad of shaders per car, and it might be overwhelm the hardware. So, we get 2; base layer and decal layer. Keep in mind, the base layer has multiple shaders already, like matte black areas of the car.

If they didn't enforce it this way, and let you apply a shader to a specific decal (and you would probably only get to do it to 1 decal), it would likely hit a shader limit and force something else to share the same shader as the base. So, for instance, let's say you have a metallic base coat and you want to make 1 specific decal matte. The other decals might be forced to be metallic so a shader limit is not breached.

Showing the player a shader budget might be too technical for most.

Other things that annoy me -

1. They gave us the Super Licence.... why ??

We have absolutely NO use for it. Nothing has changed in the game. No new events or rewards.

2. I think most of us are Collector Level 70 now - so they should open the Legends Car Dealer to ALL cars, not just the select few.

Nothing past the first two licenses were ever needed in GT7 to begin with. The license tests are just challenges with prize cars at the end of each set. They feel like they only exist because they're expected to.

Calling it now, Spec IV will increase the Collector Level cap to 100, providing a second section of the Legends Dealership with another rotation of cars.

Coming 2029 with the PS6 Pro update, I swear, Kaz told me!

You know what really grind me gears everytime I play GT7, not being able to customise the storage space allocated for the replays, do not pre-determine for me game what I can and cannot save. Good races (like today) I have lost many good replays becuase of the limitation of the replay data system storage and it frikkin annoys me to high hell!

When you enter the "World Circuits" icon and get to choose from the different regions, at the bottom where it has all those Championships... there have been absolutely ZERO new races added since launch.... what the hell ??

Id love to see the race selection like we had in previous GT games.

the "favorites" folders for your library of decals is completely useless and I wish the Livery Editor wasn't this afterthought, as it seems, since it's never updated or improved.

I have close to 15 pages of decals uploaded that I use all the time in making liveries. As it is kinda hard to navigate through all with no filters or search (oh, thanks again, Poliphony), I thought of taking the time needed to categorize everything under favorites so I don't need to flip pages all the time searcing that exact Michelin logo from the early 1980s I need on this specific car from that era.

But the game only allows you 10 folders, which is a bummer, because you might want to fragment your svgs more than that. But this would be workable and better than nothiing if these folders themselves didn't have an asinine limit of decals to be placed inside.

The bottom line is that you are never going to organize your ever expanding library of decals. It's BS design getting in the way and something Poliphony does all the time: stopping right at the point where they might make thinks easier and usefull.

-How limited and uncreative Sport Mode is
-16 car grids in 2026 should be ruled a crime against humanity
-The lack of advanced spectator UI options, mainly the absence of live timings that we had in GTSport
-How the single player experience was designed around the completion of Cafe Menus, it is a good idea on paper, but shouldn't have been the centerpiece of single player

How does that work ? I'd think you'd get better player metrics by being creative.
The majority of Sport's audience is people who just wanna hop in a grouped car and do some simple races, so any event that even dares to branch out of that gets far lower player counts as a result.

Even the JGTC Suzuka race, one of the best daily races in the game's history with a plethora of pre-tuned cars to pick from, got lower numbers because 1. there wasn't a clear meta car and 2. there was a chance of rain. These are the people holding Sport back from achieving greatness.

The lobby interface, having to input the track every time because you have to keep changing rooms because you can't see if they are already racing and in what lap in the room list.

If I'm not mistaken, we had something like this in GT6, and perhaps GT5 but I don't remember it clearly

This mildy annoys me, when a race starts, it starts zooming in on the cars and then the board comes up and blocks everyone’s liveries. I wish we could turn on a setting for online lobbies and that moves through the field after standing start, showing off all the liveries and then start.

Also the fact you can’t dictate which cars anybody in your lobby can use. Like if you want to run muscle cars, select only muscle cars, and put up your tunes for people to pick from. Like I have trans am tunes for the Camaro challenger and Mustang, let me put those tuned cars up for others to use, only their livery gets applied to it for the race.

That would stop people from not participating since they don’t have what everyone else is running.

Quite frustrating.

There are many things for me, lots of little things mainly;

  • Can't put decals on headlights and random other aspects of certain cars
  • Can't have tyre stickers below Gr3 cars
  • Doesn't show the current gold, silver, and bronze times on the HUD while doing a TT event
  • Doesn't keep your split times if you restart a TT, and I restart some TTs a LOT

Why would you want to put decals on headlights??? I’d imagine that would imagine that would screw up the lighting model.

Lol ask that knowing I wish we could put decal in places other that the top of the windshield.

I would think maybe they want to make grills for the lights or covers? Some with four headlights, you could make two yellow fog lights for example. Lots of cars at Goodwood have the black X tape on the headlights. There’s lots of reasons. I do wish we could do white lettering on any cars sidewall.

Exactly this, old race cars, particularly in stock racing, rally, demolition derby, japanese illegal road races etc., would have headlight designs or no headlight at all.

Agree on the tyre letting ability, or lack of

These weren't headlight designs though but security measures.

Their real-life purpose is not the point; being able to replicate them in the livery editor is my issue. There are several examples in the game, Castrol Supra GT500 and Skyline GT-R GP-Tuned for example, that have the feature for headlights or covers so why not on most?

On the same note, we have a car, the Hyundai Gr3 that has different colour wheels front and back, that'd be a nice option on other cars too

I get what you’re saying but what happens when you decide to race at night?

I kinda agree with the mismatch wheels, but at that point, we’re losing the plot. I get it, you want a touring car game sooo bad but you have to remember GT has to be a touring car game, rally game, F1 game, LMP game, a casual racing game AND an encyclopedia. Sacrifices gotta be made.

No different than taking the 2J to a night race. You don’t.
