Okay, I've just finished Sweet and Elite. Rarity seems to be the polar opposite of AJ (lie after lie), snobbery is still rife in Canterlot (what a surprise), Rarity's singing was top notch, and oh god that weird looking facial expression from 'May the Best Pet Win' has returned.

Also, I loved how Pinkie was telling the same story about RD and the Sonic Rainboom when Rarity was waking up, AJ not knowing what a garden party really is, plus Twilight's crazy ass dancing moves


And there there's Celly sneaking up behind Rarity. Cue exploitable screencaps.

Speaking of Poirot Pony, was I the only one who thought his arm candy was going to go BAM! and be Celestia all along?

First thing I though of when she came on screen was "wait, is that young Celestia?". I does look like a spit of the fanon interpretation of young Celly though, save for the lack of wings.

Also, Poirot Pony? Where's the Wallonian accent?

Hm. I honestly don't see what the problem was with Rarity. She wasn't fantastically shown up in front of everyone Sonic Rainboom style; and she was acting kind of like a bitch throughout, but she still seemed to come to her senses at the end.

I can see why Mint took as disliking to Rarity's actions in this episode, but I agree with the point you made there.

You can just feel the sophistication emanating from that outfit.

Also, I no longer dislike Rarity, but she still moved down on my list a little. Partly because Pinkie moved up because of the party cannon. So she would have moved below Pinkie anyway, it's just that what she did didn't help much.

From what we saw of her in the episode, she seemed like a typical trophy girl. I'd say the fandom will give her a personality that's totally different to Big Mac's, so if anyone does go ahead and ship Prize Gem (that's her fanon name apparently) with Big Mac, then that could make for an interesting read depending on how it's written.


And I'm wondering how she got her Fleur-de-lis CM as well.

I liked the episode. Rarity learnt her lesson in the end (in a fashion) and got away with lying to all her friends. I feel that she only acted that way because it was the opportunity of a lifetime for her and without her actions like they were it may have been out of character. What would you do in a similar situation? I think I'd do something similar to Rarity while still attempting to do right by my friends. Remember she was, sort of, forced into going to all those parties.
I liked Arm Candy or whatever her name was. It's interesting to see a pony like that, being all lanky slender like that.

I dunno. I just think the "got away with it" part of the equation shouldn't matter that much. Rarity was never unrepentant about her lies, and she took pains to correct the issue and defend her friends when push came to shove regardless of what it meant for her.


I mean, if Rarity didn't care or was completely ignorant about the effects her actions were having on her friends (like in Sonic Rainboom), then sure; but in this episode it just doesn't seem necessary.

I know what it's like to be torn between friends and other commitments, but I probably wouldn't have acted like Rarity in that situation (lying and all that). Those Canterlot folk did seem seem kind of pushy as well, but not aggressively so, which is what made Rarity go off with them rather than sort out Twilight's dress.


And the fact that she got away with it doesn't really matter, no, plus she did side with her friends in the end after coming clean to both them and the high-class ponies.

I still think she should have found time for the dress. Yeah, I can see wanting to go to some of those events, but letting your friends down to go to all of the events? There is no good reason for that.

Yeah, when she finally stood up for her friends toward the end it made me feel a little better, but I still feel like she shouldn't have gotten off so easy.

I mean, at least in Sonic Rainboom she learned a lesson via near death experience. I'm not saying she deserved anything even remotely close to that severe here(Or there, for that matter), just something a bit more extreme then "I shouldn't have done those things I knew I shouldn't have done to begin with".


She may have learned a lesson, I'm just not sure she learned it in a way that would really make it stick.
