Still my favorite of crossovers. (Steampunk + Ponies)

That sucks. I've yet to receive any hate on a personal level for being a Brony, but as a group on GTP we have (for silly reasons mainly).

I just try to ignore the haters though, as I have done so from the start (i.e. "🤬 'em!"). They make me laugh more than anything else.

Moving on past the childlessness.

Ugh, received my first hate for being a brony today.

It's all good, at first you will take it pretty hard but as time moes on you just won't give a 🤬.
I know that in the first few months I was afraid to tell anybody about it but I was finally able to assure myself that I like the show because it entertains me and the simple fact is that I LIKE IT.
If you like something, (that isin't illegal ) then it shouldn't matter what others think as long as YOU enjoy it.
Now I've moved on from that to handing in MLP related projects for school. :D

Damn dude, sorry to hear. Was it in person or online?

If it's online, don't worry about it. If it's in person or from someone you actually know, still don't worry about it. We all have things that interest us that others might not get and you can get hell for anything from some people. Just ignore them, let them know you don't give a rat's ass what they say about it, don't let it get to your head, and move on :D

I really haven't gotten any hate for my pony fan status, and I didn't hide it for long. Nobody seems to care or notice. My dad was confused when he walked in on me watching an episode, wondering why I was watching what I was, but the initial reacting wore off quickly, and he's seen the show now. The whole "I like ponies" thing just happens to be really.

I don't really think they would be mentally ill, no. Just something out of the ordinary. :sly:

Then again, according to the Media, Bronies are out of the ordinary... So yeah.

The problem is, many have all this hate to someone doing something because that's what they do... Like clopping. It's the same with the Media hating on Bronies, just some Bronies playing the media's part and aiming it at part of their own fandom. I'm not a clopper myself, and my view on this situation has made me realize that I am now becoming way more tolerant of this sort of thing. About two or three months ago, I would have probably said the same as MSTER did, even if he did sort of mindlessly chuck it out there. But now, I don't really mind, it's not like it scars me or ruins my life or anything. They're just doing what they want to.

Ugh, received my first hate for being a brony today.

Aaaah, I remember my first hater... I responded... Argumentatively. But now it's easier to just say, "Okay, you enjoy that," and leave it at that.

Also, I forgot to say, "Welcome to the herd!" As it appears you actually are new to the herd, rather than just the GTP Brony thread.

I'm guessing that's what happens when there's no activity in the thread for 7 hours. Garrett will be pissed to find that his waifu helped Trixie out of what was left of her house.

Yeah, that too.

Talking about clopping? I can't clop to this. (Plays Sim Gretina song of same name)

Sorry, I was bored. Night, I guess.

Anyway I feel sorry for you man. Personally I have never encountered a hater yet, but maybe that's because I hide my interest about ponies to everyone but other bronies. If it's online then as someone else mentioned, don't worry about it. It's not like they can physically hurt you or something. If it was in person then don't worry about it. You're not the only one who gets hated on.

Damn son  !

It was online, and I just sent that gif of Pinkie in sunglasses and swimming feet with "Haters gonna hate" on it.

I don't honestly see how anyone can hate a tiny little pony that appeared for one episode and wasn't designed to be hated, then hold a character designed presumably with "MAKE THIS A BITCH" in incredibly high regard.

Then, when Pip get older, he becomes a REAL pirate along with Capt. Pinkie Pie to steal all of our sweets in our homes...

If only some of us had loved him when he was a wee lil' colt, this catastrophe could of been prevented.

Behold the lamest OC design ever

Anyways, I finally designed up a cutie mark (Self birthday present I guess). Basically it's an evolution of my logo, starting from a ripoff of Metallica's ninja star, to my own design, to ripping off Skrillex Ill logo.
Still no witty name for him yet.

Because one-dimensional walking cliche inserted for demographic pandering (in a show with characters otherwise designed and written to mock the concept) vs. antagonist with layers of personality?

She doesn't HAVE layers of personality. We're simply assuming she does, half of all the characters' traits are made up on the spot by the fandom. Trixie (said example) IS shallow and one sided from the one episode she was in.

inb4 he can wield all the Elements of Harmony.

Also, I think you'll find that he would marry AJ instead... and Trixie.

And yet Trixie has an much larger fanbase that Pip. Sure, most of it is due to fanon interpretations of her, but honestly I never hated her in the first place. Pip on the other hand is an industrial-strength irritant that added nothing to the episode he featured in. At least Trixie was relevant to the episode she appeared in.

I already have. But that doesn't mean she'll be the only one. Who wouldn't want to have her and another to choose from?

Besides, I wouldn't get rid of her unless she starts being a total bitch.

Trixie's actions purely from the episode she was in make her a more complex and better written character than "Captain British of the Britishkateers," and she (as was Gilda) was central to the episode storyline and drove what was going on.
Trixie is a showboating, haughty starlet thrust into a situation way above her ability to solve for reasons that were partially her fault; but she tried to do so anyway and then refused to eat the humble pie when it was served to her (so she didn't even try to learn her lesson like, say, Rainbow Dash would). Gilda was a short-tempered bully who nonetheless clearly did care about Rainbow Dash and wanted to spend time with her, but responded towards Pinkie Pie getting in the way of that by being a complete bitch to everyone who wasn't Rainbow Dash and also refused to learn her lesson (throwing away her friendship with RD in the process).
That doesn't mean that they are suddenly the good guys, and that doesn't mean that their actions are justified. And whatever backstory fans want to chalk that complexity up to is purely on them. But that does make them relateable characters, and that is the mark of complexity.

At the other hand of the spectrum we have Pip, who was shoved into his episode at the expense of the main characters of the show (to the extent that they had a scene planned out for Rarity interacting with Luna and then scrapped it) purely to act as a morality pet B-Plot that was both unnecessary and could have been filled better by existing characters regardless; and in a show written with a level of medium awareness about colorful cartoon ponies who sing songs and live in harmony with each other, to play a character archetype such as his completely arrow straight with no other features to his personality to it is almost farcical. Even the Flim Flam brothers, who were lifted directly from post-war musicals right down to their clothing, at least had a fun song and drove the storyline for the episode.

And I get that you don't like that. But you'll just have to accept the fact that people will naturally tend to like well-written antagonists better than poorly written protagonists regardless of what the media is.

I just finished watching episode 5 of season 1, the one with Gilda in it. And Gilda seems like a douche, I can't see why she's so popular.
