So, lets say I was trying to paint something azure (Why? No reason...). Would it be better to paint the top coat a dark blue and sand it off, or just paint it azure and hope it comes out right? I'm going to go buy some paint right now, so I need to know.

Keep in mind that I already did a white bottom coat intending to do the first option when I thought I had a can of Navy floating around in my garage, so I dunno if the azure would even come out right now if I did just try to paint it azure.

Plain Azure would be better. You paint the dark and sand it off, you end up with blotches when you actually do. I'm going to fathom a guess that whatever you have is going to have nooks and crannies, and even then, flat surfaces are hard to sand evenly all across.

or have the stuff custom-mixed. Greatly and Most Powerfully. ;3

I would assume that it would come out better if you painted it azure, it seems like the obvious thing to do really. If you can get a shade of blue paint that matches azure, then I'd go for that rather than use a darker blue and sand it off.

So you think a heavy coat (or, probably, two) of azure to try cancel out the white I already put on it?



And custom mix is expensive.

I wouldn't put a heavy coat on straight away. Apply a lighter coat first and see how well it comes out, and if it's too light, then go ahead and apply a extra coat.

Several light coats. Work your way up, a little sanding between coats, like you do with a car.

This is a Lexan RC body, but the concept is the same.

If anything, the white should make your azure stand out more. A dark undercoat or backing would make the color too dark. It's why this guy actually uses silver before backing his bodies with black

Oh. I've painted RC cars before (in fact, I've painted that RC body before). No problem then.

I just happened to be reading part 6 of Macintosh, and now there's a new chapter that's been added after the epilogue, I thought the story was complete already. Well, looks it's going to take me quite a while to reach the end, right now I'm moving onto part 7 and then I'll leave it for tonight. I really like this story by the way, it has a charming feel to it. I can also relate to some of the things that have happened so far which kinda makes this story stick in my mind.


Wait, I just realised that Mint said something similar about it a few days ago:

this is the kind of thing that will eat at your brain until you continue.

I wish I could read more than just part 7 tonight, but I need to be up early in the morning, so I'll continue it sometime tomorrow.

Just put the first coat on. Couldn't find azure at Wal-Mart, so I went with the lightest blue they had. Should be a bit lighter than it currently is when it dries, assuming I didn't drown it like I think I might have.

Good thing I read Tabluna Rasa today, because the final update just went up.



There's also another Slendermane crossover story, but I *think* I'll put that off until the morning as well. I've found that being able to go to sleep at night is a nice thing to do.




Project's coming along nicely. Final coat of paint is drying now, so I'll be able to give it a looksie in the morning as well.
