I read all of it and actually is not that good, it was interesting however because it utilizes many storytelling elements(events and such) from the AC series(mainly AC5), there are serious problems with its writing and most of the events are actually quite boring, but there is something else that caught my attention from that fic, allow me to elaborate:
In this fic the plot device is a war between the gryphon's and the ponies, the writer used this factions to represent them as nations to make a modern warfare story(kind of, AC stories are far deeper than MW ones, in this case it feels more like a MW story than a AC story), it utilizes the military speech and theme which is something that doesn't fit the story, or the pony concept at all(modern warfare theme is not right for a pony story).
But all this flaws make me think that a good story using AC storytelling elements might work. A good way to implement the storytelling from AC is using nations as kingdoms(just like the
Principality of Belka) and using a
Lord of the Rings setting to archive this purpose, quest and crusades can replace the MW setting missions, and the medieval setting fits best because canon can be closely associated with a medieval setting.
Presenting the events from AC on its medieval version might work; like for example the attack from the XB-0, which can be replaced with dragon attack or something similar, pegasi and unicorns can be used as solider class units and their speech can be done under the basis of a "crusade" or "medieval conflict".
Using these set pieces, with elements and ponified events from AC's storyline(like The Demons of Razgriz legend/The Demon Lord story/AC04 story) the output might be a good story(with a good mixture between OC's and canon characters to make the story believable, it must be said).
The set-pieces and the story presented in that fic doesn't work because it doesn't represent correctly what a good story based on AC storytelling might be(applied to the MLP theme), as it stands its a pretty mediocre fic which is not appealing, but it made me realize of the potential that can be found from the AC storytelling. I sort of want to make a story under those basis, but I'm pretty sure it will need tons of editions and revisions to output something actually acceptable, however I'm pretty sure that someone who has played the AC games might grasp its essence to create a story that could be closely related to AC's storytelling method.
Also:
Damn, MLP is seriously rotting my mind.
Apart from that:
The only thing around ponibooru that wasn't weird.
