I just did frame by frame analysis. They only had 16 frames of animation between Spike pulling out the barrel and them hitting it, which is only 2/3rds of a second.

What can I say? Pimp Spike was awesome, Fluttershy and RD doing good cop/bad cop, King Kong references, and Pinkies reaction to Sugarcube Corner getting destroyed was brilliant. Another good episode.

Also, it's confirmed that they have globes and warning sirens in Equestria, plus there was one moment earlier in the episode that will surely be exploited

Using SCIENCE!, I have my predictions for the quality of the next two episodes. First of all, I've noticed a clear pattern:

Return of Harmony - Great
Lesson Zero - Great
Luna Eclipsed - Meh
Sisterhooves Social - God Tier
Cutie Pox - Great
May the Best Pet Win - Good
Mare Do Well - Only Owl's Well That Ends Well is worse.
Sweet and Elite - God Tier
Secret of My Excess - Great

And I've also noticed something else: The quality of the episode seems to be inversely proportional to how much I want to see it.

For example, Luna Eclipsed: CANON WOOOOONNNNNAAAAA! Anticipation high. Episode is mediocre.
Sisterhooves Social: Rarity and Sweetie Belle? Who cares? Episode is fantastic.
The Cutie Pox: Another CMC Episode? Meh. Episode is fantastic.
May the Best Pet Win: Fairly anxious to see it, episode was decent.
Mare Do Well: Was practically bursting with anticipation, episode was pretty much just bad.
Sweet and Elite and Secret of My Excess: Completely indifferent to them (especially the former), and they were both wonderful (especially the former).






So, with both patterns in mind, look at the next two episodes:
Hearth's Warming Eve - Christmas Episode. Probably to have all of Mane Six, probably going to have a song. Anticipation fairly strong. Second episode after a truly fantastic one. Episode will probably be pretty good.

Family Appreciation Day - THE 🤬 APPLEJACK BACKSTORY EPISODE (probably)! ANTICIPATION CANNOT BE HIGHER!
Third episode after truly fantastic episode. Probably won't be very good.

I like the confirmed fact that The Wonderbolts are tied to military.

Man, way to Joss all those "Spike Becomes a Winged Dragon" fics and images (and Knight Spike from his own fantasies) Pimp Spike is all well and good, but many are overlooking the fact that it's actually Cheerilee's pimp hat. Now we know how she supplements her meager schoolteacher pay. Either that or Cheerilee is/was a Smooth Criminal. Both are good head-canons.

I too can feel the SpaRity being written, drawn, and edited into PMVs with 90's love songs. My Heart Will Go On, anyone? As for the Wonderbolts, I'd always sort of assumed they were military, if they're meant to be analogous to the Blue Angels/Thunderbirds. Clearly, the only reason Rainbow Dash can try out for them is because she's a commissioned officer for NOAA EOAA, so she'd just need to transfer services.

I loved how Rarity seemed to be more annoyed than scared with big Spike, almost like being the default damsel in distress is already boring for her.

After seeing you give your opinion on Luna Eclipsed and Mare Do Well, I can say that I liked Luna Eclipsed more than you. It was alright, but after the high levels of anticipation, it wasn't as great as most people thought it would be (I wouldn't say mediocre. Decent, acceptable or satisfactory is how I would describe it).

Mare Do well has been the weakest episode this season so far. I don't know if I would rank it as low as you did, but it's not one of the better episodes.

There is a strong possiblity that a song will be present in that episode, plus the the entire Mane Six will most definitely feature, I'm certain of it. The fact that we get to find out more about Equestrian history is what interests me most though.

Family Appreciation Day does look like it will include the Apple family backstory (AJ and Big Mac backstory?), although the episode synopsis is rather brief. My anticipation for it is high, yeah, but at this point, Hearth's Warming Eve is what I'm really looking forward to.

I could say the same thing about someone wanting to print IWSYT before Allegrezza. It's such an absurd idea.

I'm with Wiegert on this. I'd be embarrassed to hand over IWSYT to someone in a book, but pretty damn proud of Allegrezza.

The page count wouldn't be that great though, would it.

35000 words thus far, most novels have about 50000 if I remember rightly.

Coffee should write this into Allegrezza.

Sorry I haven't been on much lately. Work, family and Skyrim have been taking up a lot of my time. However with that said I managed to read some chapters of Allegrezza and My Little Alicorn at work today (when it was quite) and I had a question for Coffee. What chapter are you up to? I mean chapters that get uploaded to EqD? I have 14 (Quattordici) according to my count but I think I'm missing some.

Chapter 14, or Part 29 on DA which is essentially 29 1/2.

In all seriousness:

Hype is the worst enemy of this fandom, this makes me think that hyped characters are often associated with hyped episodes. Repetition is what makes some of these episodes boring, and fandom expectation is what takes out the originality of some situations (Mare Do Well and arguably Luna Eclipsed).

Part of the appeal of MLP is seeing some of the character in unique(but not unexpected) situations, likewise exploring more parts of these characters rather than pleasing fandom is what keeps the appeal of the show(the only exception of this is Return of Harmony which has discord as complement).

I'm not sure what to expect for the next two episodes, however I'm starting to believe that upcoming RD/AJ centric episodes might not be good, and Pinkie Christmas episode might be the next thing to come, if writers are clever they might add another Twilight centric episode and perhaps an episode starting the mane six on unique situation (something that might come for next year).

And I'm glad I wasn't the only one.
