Seriously, though. I'm actually re-reading that fic ending lately. It's a manual of everything the Allegrezza finale should not under any circumstances include.

Page 2, Comment 3. I wrote it right after Chapter 10 came out, but before I had actually read it. I deleted it off of SSMB, and I'm pretty sure I deleted it from this thread too. But it's still on ED.


As for how I feel about it now? Of Mares and Magic, if you want the most direct comparison that only you would be able to understand, is the Sonic Advance 3 of fanfiction; the main difference being that the mere thought of it pisses me off so much that I wouldn't even get enjoyment out of writing a song to dump on it. When I saw that post at the top of this page, my eye started twitching and my hands started shaking. That wasn't a joke. One of the happiest moments I have ever felt in this fandom, and this is also no joke, was when Chapter 11 came out and the story was starbombed straight to hell, from a 4.8 to a 4.0 flat in the matter of an hour. That a bunch of people who would happily buy sand in a desert bought that line of 🤬 that the Epilogue was planned from the start and the star rating subsequently rose back up is not my concern, because at that point I had already washed my hands of the piece of 🤬 outside of reading it for closure and never looked back.





Until certain people brought it up again, necessitating an emergency Heart of Gold thumb-through because I very quickly found that that story is the only thing that makes me feel better about what ultimately happened to OMaM.




















And yes, this post needed to be rewritten several times as well, even though the read through of Heart of Gold calmed me down.

Anyway, ever since I read Dear Idiot, almost every other story that has been written by The Descendant I've actually ended up reading without even realising that he was the guy who wrote them (never bothered to check who the author was beforehand). I saw The Song of Syhlex earlier on and it's the first time I've recognised that he is the author before reading one of his fics. I might look at it some other time though because I'm currently halfway through reading a chapter from another story.

I'm assuming that The Song of Syhlex is at least decent, judging by your comment on EqD.
