I understand your POV, but its a series for entertainment value... Picking out these details will of course make it look stupid but that would happen to any series or movie you take apart.

I personally find it to be a good entertaining series. And I also think that some decisions or plot twists are stupid sometimes, but as a whole it all works imo. I enjoyed the start of the second season as well and there's enough loose ends in the plot to keep on going for a while. :)

I thought it was a pretty decent episode, the ending was especially nice. I had a strange feeling about those guys that walked into the bar. From the time that guy Dave started showing off his gun I knew someone was getting shot. I'm curious to see what happens when the rest of that group comes looking for them and finds out what happened. Also curious to see if Dale will eventually end up shooting Shane. They aren't exactly looking to call a truce anytime ever.
Lori flipping the car made me facepalm though. It seemed like barely 10 minutes passed before she was rushing off after them for not being back yet. What did she really expect to accomplish with that tiny six shooter and not even knowing where she was going? I sincerely hope she ends up back on the farm by the end of next weeks episode and they don't spend the rest of the season searching for another person. :ouch:

OK, well I'm screwed. I only just finished the first season yesterday. Netflix didn't have the second season, yet.

I find it amazing that people can call the 2nd season anything but utter 🤬! The first half of season 2 is nothing but the same conversation going on and on. There's almost no character develoment, and what little there is, is for the worse. It's also filled with the dumbest decision making by the characters, in the history of movies/shows. And on top of that, there's the continuity problems.

The entire first half could have been fitted into 1 and a half episode. Then they could've gotten back onto the road like they should. While there's no need to have action in every single spisode, it's generally speaking, smart to not bore the viewer to death, with the same lines of dialogue, over and over again.

I have to ask, have you read any of the comic books? Say what you will on the frustrations with the story progression, they've drifted so far away from the books that none of the dedicated fans really know where things are going. Sure, elements of the book have been popping up in episodes (going to the suburb, for instance), we haven't even made it out of the first book yet. That being said, some of the issues from the book are bubbling just below the surface, and it will be interesting to see how they end up playing out.

For me personally, it is an entertaining hold-over until Mad Men is back. I'm sure the informed masses will be complaining at SDCC in July, and I'll be joining them, but to the rest of the average viewers... This is very compelling television. Without knowledge of where things are going, I'm going to assume that I would find the episodes are more enjoyable, and I would likely care for each of the characters very differently.

I haven't read the book, and if I did, I still believe the show should stand on its own merits. I didn't quite understand whether that makes my arguements invalid in your opinion, though.

Staying too close to the source information isn't neccesarily a good thing. There's a big difference between the pacing in a book, and the pacing in a movie/TV show. Spending 7 episodes on something that could easily be done in 1-2, is just not a good thing. And again, the writing is just awful.

The first season did it right. It had plenty of drama, without forgetting that they're living in a world of zombies. On top of that, the scenery changed over time, where as season 2 just takes place in the same boring landscape.
 
Mixed ep for me. Although Shane is slightly pushing towards the crazy side he is thinking a little more logically. He lies to Lori to get her back to the house and she gets mad. Like what was she really gonna do if she did manage to get to the town to help Rick and glen? Than they stop to help this kid on the fence. Screeeeeeew that kid and drive away! Shooting the kid in the head would of been the nicer thing to do. That way the kid doesn't get eaten and feels anything plus you save your group by not having another body to feed and protect. I think Rick and Shane should just talk like men and get everything out in the open. They both are trying to play the leader without discussing it with each other.

On another note, out of curiosity, does anyone watch Talking Dead? I like to watch it. It gives a fair bit of insight into the show that I wouldn't otherwise see.

Lol ya I watch it. They always show different clips and ask questions that I had as well.

Yes its a much needed change of pace to see other people from outside the farm, especially if it will lead to dramatic fighting scenarios. now they have to worry about the living and the dead, i think that elevates the drama even more. so i have to ask... Are we going to start a pole as to when dale finally goes bezerk?? its been building up for so long and now that whats her face finaly told him she denies their whole past together and wants to keep the baby from him. its only a matter of time before the timebomb goes off. so now they have to worry about the living, the dead, and complete mutany/civil war in their own group..
exciting stuff! if we are taking a pole i say it will be the second to last episode this season when they all choose sides, just a guess. dale and rick are almost ready to kill each other, and they will each have their own followers.
 
Episode 10 was pretty exciting... Rick and Shane got themselves in a sticky situation because of their differences and what are they gonna do with that kid they're keeping hostage...?! Another week until we find out... :(

Lol ya they said it was in the bone and he would lose it etc. Than somehow Hershel who isn't even a real doctor with all the tools fixes it better than anything possible plus the kid heals in like an hour lol.
 
At the beginning when Rick first stops the car he does say they were, "waiting a week to do this". I'm assuming that means a week has passed since they yanked the guy off the fence. Now I'm no expert but even if Hershel did somehow miraculously manage to mend his leg he probably wouldn't have regained full mobility in a week. The way he was moving in this episode made it seem like he was never injured. Then there's the whole, "I know Maggie" thing. If he was on the farm for a week I'd assume he would have had a chance to tell Hershel this at some point before Rick and Shane taped his mouth and tossed him in the car.

Now I understand they probably didn't want another slow farm segment while they were waiting for the guys leg to heal but having obvious plot holes like this isn't a good way to go.

Despite this it was such a good episode. Was glad to finally see the showdown between Rick and Shane. Luring zombies with blood to stab then was cool too, so was Rick's triple kill with his .357 and of course the crushed zombie head at the end. :sly: Basically it was zombie killing awesomeness and I enjoyed it. It was a nice touch having Shane in a situation where he needed help and of course Rick comes back for him despite knowing that Shane probably wouldn't have done the same. I was hoping that this and everything Rick told him would calm him down but based on the preview for next week it probably hasn't done much.


What's up with the zombie cops with no injuries though? Does this mean you don't need to get bit to get infected? Is everyone infected? Curious to see where they go with this.
 
On the streets people are saying it might be airborne now. It still doesn't make sense tho because they kill zombies and get blood on them. Like when Rick shoots all those zombies on top of him blood for sure should be in his eyes and mouth. He has to be infected but I'm sure he won't be.
 
Damn, last two episodes were intense. Funny part is that I get more nervous during the person-to-person stuff than person-to-zombie (probably because zombies don’t carry guns). Too bad I forgot to queue up a comedy to unwind…

Thats crutial! especialy for early monday morning risers. you gotta have something like Modern Family recorded so you can watch something light and funny afterward or you cant go to sleep because you lay there thinking about people chewing on your body parts.
 
Hahaha you read my mind exactly... usually I wait till I have Modern Family so that I can watch it immediately after Walking Dead. Luckily I had House queued up last night, which is half-comedy.

Last episode was crazy! Poor Dale, its terrible that he died. Especially the way he died as well. I wonder what will happen when Rick finds out what Carl did.
 
Yeah I like his character too. he was the only one that had a genuine good heart and saw everyone for who they were. i wished the wouldve kept him for longer but i had a feeling that something would happen to him soon. too bad, good episode tonight, but didnt really accomplish anything storywise.
