And it's snowing! :dopey:

I knew good ol' Winter still had some left in her!

That was a HUGE fail earlier today. Thank God the bad stuff went north and south of here. I'll take the 46F tomorrow, that'll be a good way of paying me back, thanks.

We received another 8" of snow yesterday and last night. Sounds like a bit more is on the way, too. Because of that, the river is expected to go back up, possibly to 41 feet again. Is it too much to ask for green grass and normal river depths?

No Green Grass and High Tides for you?

That is my most hated song in Rock Band, for this very reason, BTW

So, is the flooding primarily due to just way too much precipitation at once or it is ice blockages? I saw them using dynamite on the news to break up the ice a while back, so I am curious if that is causing more issue than the precipitation itself.

Although at this stage I am guessing the river is high so the added precipitation is just compounding problems.

And to think, you just started unpacking.

High tides, most assuredly. Green grass will have to wait.

The problems started back in, I believe, November when we received a bunch of rain/freezing rain that saturated the ground. It then sat all winter, thanks to the incredible cold waves we had. Add on top of that the 4-6 feet of snow that melted in around 2 weeks and that makes for a royal mess. It then turned cold again last week, which made the rivers freeze which caused ice dams, thus the explosives to break up the ice to move it downstream.

I think that pretty much covers everything.

41 feet?🤬 me. Where was the reading from/What is it normally?

Hope you and your family are doing okay, TB:tup:👍

The previous record was 40.1 feet on April 07, 1897. We broke that with a 40.8 last Saturday.

At 18 feet, we are technically at flood stage, but the city doesn't even break a sweat up to around the 32' range. Forty, on the other hand, starts to freak people out a bit. I'm not positive what "normal" river levels are, but it's obviously below 18 feet.

It's nice to know that even at those levels my house stayed dry, except for some carpet getting wet because I put a plug in the floor drain. Better clean water from my furnace than potentially sewage backup.

And for those non-premos, this is what my upstairs living room looked like with everything from the basement in it.

Since we broke the 112 year record for river level, we might as well add a few other records to the books, as well.

About a week ago, Fargo broke its March moisture record, which includes rain and water content of snow. Now at 4.62 inches after Tuesday’s snow, precipitation in March smashed the previous record of 2.83 inches in March 1882.

The area also surpassed previous March snowfall records. Fargo received 29.5 inches this month to break the record of 26.2 inches set in March 1997.

And this year is now in the top four snowiest winters on record. With the latest storm, we’ve had 79.4 inches of snow this winter, putting us behind the 82.2 inches in 1936-37 and 89.1 inches in 1993-94.

The winter of 1997 still holds the No. 1 place with 117 inches of snowfall.
Another 38" of snow and we can hold that record, too!

I am beyond ready for this winter to be over.

Some parts of South East Queensland have recieved more than 100mm of rain since 9am EST....This good for our local dam levels.:)......

I live in a very low rainfall area, but not THIS low. We usually get about 2-300mm a year. Some of you guys get more than that in 1 day. :indiff:

Yeah, terrential down-pour today.:scared:

a) It sucks doing deliveries all day long when it's contantly bucketing down.

b) Great, got heaps of water in my Ute getting in and out

c) This kind of remain reminds me how easy it is to get my car sideways.:scared:

Damn, that's insane. I hope you and your family are safe and OK 👍

Here in Norway, the winter is over. Freezing temperatures are becoming more rare now, and the snow is melting at an incredible rate.

On that, it was so nice outside yesterday that I took my Zion bike and my Silence-Lotto outfit out for the first ride of the year. Was an awesome feeling :D:tup:

Thanks, Bram. Yes, we're all good here. The only water I had in my basement was from the condenser line from the furnace because I plugged the drain in case the sewers backed up, but that's dried up now. :)

Apparently I'm famous now. Well, as famous as someone can be from a quick glimpse on youtube.

And the still shot, for those that are interested.

Edit: You can just see my shoulder as I was taking a break to eat, too. :P

I didn't even know anyone had a camera there! At least there's no video of us beating sandbags with baseball bats! Talk about tiring. That is hands down the most difficult thing I did all week.

Wow, TB, that's pretty scary. It's really cool to see the whole community coming together to help everyone out though. Good luck! 👍

It looks like it's still pretty cold there for April too.

We've had 3mm of rain for the year so far...

. I don't think I could live with that little rain. I need my 250+ days of rain a year that I get in Seattle.

Here in Michigan, it's pretty springy out. It's warm enough to feel like summer, but I'm sure the mercury will keep going up for a while.

 It's snowing right now....

I would like to take the weather channel and shove it up Al Gore's global warming tookus.

Yeah, I'm amazed at measuring rain in millimeters. We measure our rain in inches, and could actually manage to convert to feet.

So, has Australia decided to start mining and refining Spice yet or do the sandworms make it too risky?

You all may want to consider purchasing some of these:

With a Fremen suit in good working order, you won't lose more than a thimbleful of moisture a day.

And then there is us who have HALF the amount of snow that we should at this time.

We've had about 1 5th the amount of rain we should have had so far. (rough estimate).

 We might need them soon. :nervous:

The grass is green, the trees are bloomin'...and there's snow falling from the sky. Quite hard, actually.

Really? We've managed the snow bullet altogether here in Grand Rapids. Its all gone to the South and East of here, which is nice. I'll take it, especially when we will be seeing the sun and 50F weather tomorrow. Back to spring!

Yeah, the only reason I haven't mowed the lawn yet is that I am waiting on an air filter for my mower.
