It's 75 with bright blue skies without a cloud in site. Light, cool breeze. Another horrible day in SoCal.

:p

So....it's been a bit wet again. Has anyone here been caught out in the floods? I've had to go through a few flooded areas of roads over the last few days but nothing too bad. Luckily it stopped raining a little over the weekend or we would have been stranded in a huge house from the 1600s in the middle of nowhere. Some of the people who were staying there with us almost got stuck in their Peugeot 107 after going out to buy firewood and finding the road back a lot more flooded than it was when they had left!

Come on man, we need more details! When exactly in the 1600s and which level of trim was the Peugeot 107?

No floods here, but there was a rather large puddle in the school car park this morning.

I don't know what trim level the 107 was but does it really matter? They're all awful.

I'm comfortably above the flood risk area, but it's still no more than a mile away from the Severn. Right now the river level is just above the typical range, but it was close to being the highest level recorded at some point in the last 4 days.

After 4 days of fairly heavy rain, It's only just stopped here in the past hour.

Meanwhile in the UK:

An elderly woman has been found dead in her flat, taking the death toll to 4.

I live on a hill but rainwater draining from the fields higher up has been cutting channels between neighbours houses for a few days - to the point that today the entire sodden bank broke away into the road and the remainder looks likely to break away soon too.

The water is no longer flowing over the bank but seeping right through it, which is worrying as if much more of the bank falls away there is the risk of the houses going with it. I don't fancy finding out the result of my house vs the neighbours house(s) and thousands of litres of water.

I cannot believe the volume of water that is flowing, and how the flow remains constant even though we have had very little rain in the past day or so.

At first we (myself and neighbours) thought that the storm drains had been blocked by debris that had washed down the lane and that was why so much water was flowing overground, but on inspection by the council we found out that the drains are running at full capacity morning, noon and night. I know that we've had a lot of heavy rain but this is ridiculous!

It's just hit 39c (102f), just my luck I had a job today for two hours (in basically a steel cocoon) and it was 50c (122f).

Cheers Shaun.

Winter came to rule Estonia.

Temperature is dropping to -12 Celsius. More snow storms and blizzards expected.

BMW drivers, be careful! ^_-

Low 60's and very cloudy. At least there's a break in the rain. But, more is coming soon. In about 12 hours or so.

-11°C / 12.2°F, still snowing nicely with almost no wind at all. Images below are our frontyard and backyard.

Nice pics, djinline!

Rained all day long and now all night long. Raining right now. We needed it but enough already! Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and clear. We'll see. Temps right now are in the low 50's and low to mid 70's for the next few days.

54°f today, which is better than it was over the weekend. The midler temps have been brought in by the rain though. :indiff:

Thanks, Solid Lifters! :)

Now we're having -22°C / -7.6°F. Hopefully it won't get much colder than this, we don't want any frozen water pipes. :nervous::crazy:

Well I got my first taste of what winter has in store for me. 6 miles of terror is the only to describe my bike ride to work the morning(push bike that is). I go down country back roads 1 lane wide with a friend. This morning the whole distance was a mixture of ice and black ice plus puddles with a thin ice layer on them. It was bad enough for me on my bike with chunky tyres but my friend was on a road bike with Slicks

Sunny, with haze and clouds spread all over the sky, 18 celsius high, 13 celsius right now

-3 Celsius, lots of wind too, so it feels colder. It snowed yesterday, hopefully it will do so again today.

Chongqing got bitterly chilly over night. I think it's hat and gloves time. I just had a cigarette on the balcony for a few minutes and my hand is now stiff (the one that wasn't in my pocket).

I think I'll wrap up warm and go out for a walk in a forest somewhere.

COLD! Right now it's 37 degrees and the wind is blowing like mad! Great! Now all the large fruit on our citrus trees are going to fall off before they're sweet enough to juice or eat! Another year without fresh squeezed OJ!

It was raining earlier in the day. No more rain for the next few days, at least.

It's been in the 30s this week. When I got out to my car this morning, there was a tiny bit of snow on it. I drove to the top of the hill that I live on (on my way to work), and there was snow on cars, roofs and lawns, but none of the road. I went north to my office, and it started snowing halfway up. My office parking lot was covered in snow when I got there.

It's going to be about the same tonight and tomorrow. Just at about freezing and a little above.

Looks like 12/13°c (53/55°f) and showers is the order of the day week. Long term forecast looks the same as well. That's pretty mild for Christmas as last year I can remember scraping ice off the car to go and get the goose.

The rain finally stopped and nothing but blue skies yesterday. Snow covered mountains in the back of us, too. High's were in the low 50's, though. Low's in the low 30's! Damn, it's cold! Too cold!

I would have liked snow for a change, but it is indeed a good day. We're the closest members of GTP to the end-of-world place, do you realize? We'll go first.
