I do love a British brute.

Swapping the F-Type R’s V8 with the big 7.0-liter V12 from a Le Mans-winning Group C monster sounds like a death wish. It isn’t. With tuning, it’s surprisingly tame.

Downgrading it to 600PP sounds absolutely pointless and stupid…until you see the fuel economy. We know that by swapping the engine, we also swap the fuel consumption. The V12 F-Type will outlast everyone on a no-stop strategy. If it wasn’t for this, I may have been dueling with Kokobun for the entire second half of the race, not just in the final laps of his first stint.

My strategy was simply pushing the hell out of this thing on sports hard tires for all 12 laps, laughing at everyone’s inferior road car engines and puny fuel tanks as they peeled into the pits and conceded their positions. Just let it play out. Don’t worry about getting to the front right away. It doesn’t matter with this build.

They've all been done and all work pretty good with no stop strategies. The 4WD's make this race pretty easy. Try any of the Nissan GT-R's with the R92 V8 or the Toyota Celica with the GT500 V8. The Mazda RX-7's are also good with the 26B engine as is the Honda NSX with the GT500 swap.

This race has already made me rage quit too many times...so, what's the Tomahawk exploit? Just buy and detune?
That hasn't worked for years, closest you'll get to an exploit is a swapped Espace F1 or RAV4. Both of those are incredibly easy to lap the field with on hard so it shouldn't be any trouble.

The Tomahawk is long gone and this is not the thread for exploits.
You can try this if you have a Renault Espace F1 and a Nissan GT-R engine available.
Using a controller with automatic transmission and TCS set at 1.
Fuel mode 6. Pit end of lap 6 for tyres and fuel.

As others mentioned above, the above exploit has been patched merely a month or two after it was discovered.

But if you read through this entire thread, you'd be surprised how many legitimately tuned, exploit free cars can do this.

It tests your strategy skills, which can help you in other WTC races.

Got it done finally!
Lambo Huracan.

I love experimenting my tunes in this race. Believe it or not, I got more wins from legit 600 pp cars than the Tomahawk exploits (which I only do when I feel the need to smash the living hell out of the equally cheating AI).

Even in SH tires, it is a breeze, provided you know how to set the car right for top speed, handling, and with considerations for fuel economy.

Upon countless tests, here's what I can conclude with:

- Never use anti-lag at all. Anti-lag has an impact on fuel economy and can make or break your race especially on pit strategy.

- Patience is key. Just don't rush to get to 1st place on the early parts of the race when the surface is still wet.

- What I also see is, that the AI is pre-programmed for you to actually win. Gallo will pit twice, and so do Kokubun and Suswillo (on Lap 11, when you set a great distance from them).

- Detuned hypercars, 4WDs, and Gr. 4 cars are recommended.
Tomahawk exploits?? got pictures?? can you tell me more please? I haven't been able to win the race once......

thank so much.

You won't be able to do so in the current state of the game.

Read through this thread, plenty of lightly to even heavily modified cars can do this.

Dude, that reply was back in 2022. Look at the more current options. There are easily more than 100 cars that can win this race.

The Jaguar F-Type actually a decent choice for World Touring Car 600 when tuned correctly.

There are really a boat load of cars that can win this race with not too much effort.
The other day I tried something I was curious about. I Did the race 15 times with the
AI grid cars tuned to 600pp. Some of them are actually pretty good. I Can confirm that
there are a couple of big a$$ cheaters in there. The number 1 cheater is Kokuban in the
Amemiya RX-7. There is no way you can get that car running at that pace on SS tyres
and be at 600pp. The runner-up cheater is Bouvois in the AMG GT R. And 3rd is Gallo
with the Honda NSX. He starts in front with hectic pace but does a 2 stop Pit strat which
puts him out of contention. The Nissan GT-R has a massive top speed down the straight.

Do I understand correctly that you used all the cars that normally show up in the grid? Could you give a list of viable candidates for actually winning at 600 pp or are all of them good enough?

Yes I did the race 15 times, once with every other car on the grid (as my car). I Eventually won with all of them, quite a few on the first try. The toughest one was the Amemiya RX-7. I had to use CS tyres to be able to get the weight down and the power up. Eventually just won by 0.7 of a second and some sketchy defensive driving. I Took screenshots of all the final timing sheets after the races to have record of the race times and fastest laps.

The 4WD cars are the obvious better choices. The two that I prefer and would recommend is the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R.
The ones that surprised me the most (in no particular order) was:
Porsche 911 GT3
Aston DB11
Toyota GR Supra RZ
Jaguar F-type R

Not the Honda? From memory that did quite well for me.

The NSX is one of my favorite cars overall in GT7. It's a good car for this race (just good, not wow). That's also why I said that Gallo is one of the cheaters because there is no way you can build a NSX to keep up with him at 600pp.

I haven’t done this race in forever but decided to take the Porsche 911 Safety Car out for a run. Just put in a power restrictor and tuned it down to 599pp. Won with a clean race by 14 seconds. 26:55 race time. Basically ran 2:10’s once I cleared traffic.

Easy race.

I finally found an acceptable use for the Demon Engine swap....
This YT video came across my feed (link below) and it gave the complete setup and what you need to beat Kokobun at his own (cheating) game by having a 1000+ hp car on SS tyres under the 600pp limit.
The car is the Toyota RAV4 Adventure '20. Adding some other parts and the Demon Engine swap will have your car under 600pp at full speed. If you are on FM1 at start you can pass all the cars by turn 1, and then drop to FM6 and later in race you will need to change tyres and add fuel but by that time you will be so far ahead not to worry about losing time in the pits.
If you are careful not to hit anyone on the passes you have a good chance to gain the CRB.

Funny this video came up in my feed as well.
I've had this one for a while though. It's fast but a bit of a hand full.
That's why I don't use it that much and prefer the swapped Espace.
My strategy gets me a quicker race than yours but still a minute slower than the YT video.
My tune uses SM tyres. I Use FM5 for the whole race. I Also get to P1 by the first turn.
Pit end of lap 6 for tyres and fuel. I Tried a SS setup but it doesn't work good for me because
the tyres don't make the second 6 lap stint. Although I get better lap times with SS tyres,
the race time is slower with a 2 stop race.

It's a shame that due to the nature of the track, what works in Tokyo tends to be bad elsewhere. Usually you want Sport Hard tires and lots of horsepower, but this creates a type of car that performs poorly in other WTC 600 events, where Sport Medium tires are better.

Sure, you may ask, why play the other events, as they pay much less. Reason is mostly fun and knowledge of the game. Also in Tokyo you may waste your CRB very easily when overtaking other cars, which used not to happen years ago and I'm still annoyed PD changed it.

Completely stock Jaguar XJ220 '92

Pit after lap 7, win by 15+ seconds

Lots of downforce, good power, good in the wet, good brakes, good top speed, not the best in the hairpin, but good acceleration out.
Handles even better when it dries out. Can change tires or not when refueling. I did a slight tune that made it easier to drive but it wasn't faster.

I always run this race on hard ai, no aids, ABS norm.
Edit - with this race I used auto transmission and controller.

It used to rain a lot more at the beginning of the race and if you touched any wall anywhere at all you'd lose CRB.
I can slightly touch one car now, and touch a lot of the walls and still get CBR. Out of habit I try to always get a completely clean race though it seems.
This version is pretty easy compared to how hard some of them were. It's changed a few times.
The type of car/ tune required also makes it unique and interesting.

V12-XJR-9 swapped Jaguar XJ220 '92, no pit stop
Win by 51+ seconds

Wide rims, largest diameter rims, standard stance, not wide stance is how I did it.

Controller used, auto transmission, easier with wheel/ manual trans..

I See you've got The Boss in there........ It's one of my most used cars for this race.
It's also my fastest car that is not engine swapped and without any pp bugs.

Yeah some cars are a little faster but for me it's the fastest car around Tokyo grind that actually handles pretty well too. It's a beast! There are faster cars I guess but they all seem to have funky handling, like crazy engine swapped FF cars, understeery AWD, etc..

Alfa Giulia Sprint with GTAm V6 swap.
One stop race end of lap 6 for tyres and fuel.
This car handles very well using SM tyres despite having no front downforce.
I Kind off messed up the final timing sheet but the important parts can be seen.

I was looking at that car in my garage the other day! Maybe I'll try it out.

Another V8 Rav video came up in my YT feed and I decided to give it another go.
I Tried two strategies.

First was a 1 stop starting on SS and using FM5 to be able to complete 6 laps.
The second stint must use SM because the SS are no good for the 6 dryer laps.
The SM tyres perform pretty good and I actually set the fastest lap with them.

Second was a 2 stop using FM1 and pitting end of lap 4 and 8 for new SS tyres and fuel.

The 2 stop strat is much more enjoyable having the grip of SS tyres all race long.
Lap times is about 5 seconds faster and race time is faster by 15 seconds.
