I was actually considering buying a wheel just for this game but that was before I bought it. I'm a little disappointed with how the game is after playing it so no wheel for me. :guilty:

Im hoping that the HKS controller im getting might make things slightly easier as i havent the room for a steering wheel setup

Nor can I, It's ridiculous. I got gold in all the licence tests with relative ease and all the other Special events, best I can do in this Vettel thing, on Monza is still 4 seconds off Bronze.

Real Driving Simulator, what a load of #$%@. The X1 never should have been included in the game.

I simply cant bronze the Suzuka... 4 hours, and im 3 sec off in my fastest 2 laps. The Monza i have already bronzed, and the Nurburgring, i havent tried that hard on, even though i were 5 sec+ slower than bronze.. :banghead:

Im doing it with a DS3. But the thing is, this is the very first event, i have had problems with the DS3. Its just too slow/unstable turning. The Lotus Elise race in Top Gear challenge was no problem. did it, in 5 minutes! But this. jeeeez im having problems.. :banghead:

BTW, wich driving-aids are you using to do it?

I had default aids on, Skid Recovery seemed to make me slower :indiff::indiff::indiff::indiff:
For Suzuka, I used a method I saw in a Youtube video, I braked and kept on the throttle for the Esses and Degner 1.
 
i got bronze on it with a controller,took me 6hours on suzuka :o
 
Okay I ran 2:09.732 at suzaka 2:10 was gold
I ran 2:02.432 at monza. 2:04 was gold
I ran 2:07.957 ar nürb. 2:08 was gold

Nürb was most difficult for me. It's has more "edgy" turns, where suzaka is more "swooping".

I'll post a pic if anyone don't believe. Just start with Monza, because nürb can get to ya.

Cool, i will try that, thanks. I also seemed to be slowed down by the Skid Recovery in Monza, but havent turned it off at the other tracks (dunno why actually), so i will try that. :)

I don't think the X1 need TCS either...
I will try that out tomorrow if I can.

no the TCS just slows it down. Only if you reallly want the weels to spin, they will, but you will have to force it to do it, it wont happen while driving :dopey:

Absolutely no problem. It must have a downforce of 1000+ since it can keep the wheel-spin at a minimum even though it have 1500 bhp :dunce:

In the videos you can see the throttle and brake applied!! And watch the first lap time also, as it's a mark to shoot for!

Main thing on this challenge is to stay consistent. If you run a good first lap, and you don't make any really bad errors on the second lap you should silver or gold the challenge eventually. I say that cause it's easier said then done lol. The concentration is almost unreal. I golded mines a few days ago (finally) and nurburg was by far the hardest for some reason. Took me days to get gold in that course but I finally got it with advice from gtp members and of course youtube. That carbon x2010 is so nice! Good luck bud!

The worst bit is sitting there, waiting in the pits.
 
Sazuka shoot for a 29 or close to 29 as you can get by sector one, 30 if you good exit out of that turn, that realm will be bronze pace if you can hit those s1 times fairly regularly. s2 i never caught notice of to be honest, but s3 i have gotten as low as a 52.something on my all time best run, most if the time it is in the 53-54 range or 56 if i really mess up, but those split time or around there will net you bronze.

My far the hardest thing for me was that last chicane, it is devilishly hard to nail the breaking point steer in get on the throttle while aiming for the other curb and blast over it. you get too greedy either on entry or exit will net you a dq, you go too slow and you will lose a full second or two there if you really blow it.

Still working toward silver and gold i start with sazuka cuase it is the hardest, nurburg is tricky cause of the mid speed bends the dominate the course and nailing the proper speed without putting the car off can be tricky, but did not take me near as many tries to get nurburg times down as it did sazuka.

You also might watch the vettle examples, get an idea of the lines and the gears for each turn, and figure out where you can push harder than he is, and you really have to cause hims times are fluffed to make the challenge much harder than it should be really. I mean the official X1 promo read had the record lap at sazuka at 1:10 meaning that his 2 lap time probably would have been closer to bronze time.

Using the X2010 for Suzuka 1000km endurance as practice is brilliant but in Bspec it is raining.

Same for A-spec?

1:10 is doable if you have a bonzai perfect second lap, ideally you should be shooting for a 1:08 or 1:09 first lap and then a good 2nd lap without blowing the whole lap pushing too hard. I can get 1:09 pretty standard anymore and 1:08 is getting more and more common still think i need to shave 2 seconds off that for a gold try.

I was talking about for Gold.
 
Well since i have yet to get gold i am guessing a 1:06 first lap or under, that would mean your 2nd lap would have to be 1:04 or better. Tho if you get really close to the gold time the game will give you it if it is REALLY close.

What do you mean the game will give you it?
 
I mean if the time is like 1:10.500 for gold and you get 1:10.583 you will get gold credit, not sure what the exact split is but close times will credit you for gold, silver, bronze.

To get gold in suzuka, you need to do at least a 1:05.5xx first lap in order to have a good enough pace to do a below 1:04.4xx second lap.

My gold run, 2:09.795, had a 1:05.584 first lap and a 1:04.211 second lap.
