The X1 Challenge, Crazy Fun!

I just tried redoing monza as i there is more time to be had. anyway up to the second sharp right hander, i was about a second behind the ghost then lost it at the next chicane :(. Silver i think is very much doable with a DS3 here.

I golded nurburgring and monza pretty easily, but suzuka is really giving me trouble. Golding suzuka is definitely the hardest thing I've tried to do in this game so far. I've probably spent 5 or 6 hours so far trying for the gold. I think I have the speed, but I just can't put the laps together.

update: I finally managed to gold suzuka after another couple hours of trying. Managed to get a 2:09.4xx after many runs that were very close to gold. I even got a 2:10.0xx and it didn't give me gold. I would probably get banned if I told you what I was saying to virtual Sebastian Vettle after finally managing to gold it, but it was all in good fun. =) The carbon fiber x2010 really looks good.

I got to say this challenge is the reason why i came back to gt5. once i read you could unlock one of those x1 cars and seeing one being driven in a youtube vid, i was like:drool: now with the latest update, i wont let go of this game for a while. just 5 levels left for level 30.

Sorry for the crappy quality though, I haven't got a digital camcorder.

The trick about Suzuka is that, unlike Nürburgring GP/F, the most important lap is the second one. You have some margin to kinda screw up a bit in the first lap, since you can compensate for it on the second one.

On the other hand, on Nürburgring, you have to do perfect laps that have to be very similar in their times.

Totoally agree with Lestatdark. Nurburg is a little bit more narrower than suzuka so I was having a much harder time with that course. I thought I had to restart when I ran my first lap of 1:04.345 but somehow I made up for it by running a 1:03.454 on the second lap. Will probably never play this challenge again lol. The X1 challenge was fun. Not so much fun to race it in any career event though as it is way to fast and you will spend most of your time dodging lapped cars or crashing.

I had my first X1 race tonight online but it wasn't much really. Some of us were racing on Daytona, mostly LMP cars but then someone pops in and jumps in the X1. My buddy tells me that I need to get in mine so this guy don't get a cheap win so I thought oh well why not.

The other guy in the X1 crashed into the wall at the start and took him about 4 or 5 laps to catch the other cars. Most of this time I spent just crusing around the track following the pack and watching the action. Finally I punched it and zommed past everyone then I pulled over and let everyone by including the other X1.

I pulled out wanting to see if I could catch the other X1 which had now moved to the front. To my surprise I caught him in less than one lap and left him setting. I could not even get much speed coming up behind him as my car hit the rev limiter at 310mph, It was doing 299 on it's own. Anyway as I came around the track about to lap the LMP cars I noticed my buddy was running last so I came up behind and gave him a little push up to about 260mph and then passed him and held at about 270 sucking him up to 3rd place in the slipstream of my car.

After this I got back in the LMP and had some good racing with the rest of the guys.
 
this challenge is killing me, i got gold in Monza no problem, only took maybe 10 trys, got silver on Nur GP/F after like 20 trys, bronze on Suzuka after 5 trys and i'm .3xx seconds off the silver time, can't beat it for the life of me, i'm already taking every turn past the threshold and still can't beat 2:12.5

edit: FINALLY got silver on Suzuka, took over 2 hours, time was 2:11.145

haha sounds like you're in the same boat I was in. Take a break if you don't feel like you're getting faster and come back to it later. Just keep at it and you will get it.
 
i'm not even going to bother with golds on those other two, i BARELY got silver and it felt like i was pushing that car to it's absolute limit, along with my wheel and brain lol

No seriously, take a break and come back the next day.
I usually do this for Special event, missions and License Tests.
I get sliver or whatever one day after many hours of play.
I give it a rest and next day Gold is a cake walk :D
 
Looks like I got the whole day to Gold this challenge, my flight to China was cancelled :(
My dad lost over £250 altogether.

I mean if the time is like 1:10.500 for gold and you get 1:10.583 you will get gold credit, not sure what the exact split is but close times will credit you for gold, silver, bronze.

Not true.

I got gold on all three of them and before getting there I was as close as 0,009 from gold on suzuka and did not get it.

You HAVE to beat the set times, less will not credit you anything.

Wish we had a sticky vettle thread, with dl links to gold replay laps, you know the ps3 replays not the iffy youtube videos and the best tips compiled into the main post i mean there is another big thread with a bunch of tips scattered throughout it, and videos linked. Just a one stop easy reference guide for each challenge. That would be nice.

Also gold lap split times and bronze would be helpful so you know what pace you need for each section and where you are losing or gaining time etc. All little things that would add up to make peoples lives easier.

No you do not have to beat the set lap times, i have beat bronze at lest being close, i mean you have to be very close and i have read other people say the same for gold times to. Unless something changed in 1.5 patch, but who knows until i can get close enough to silver and gold to find out for sure.

Just not true... Got them before patch and after for a friend. Maybe you experienced a bug or you are just mistaken. I know for a fact it is not true, it wouldnt make sense also.

I know a lot people that have been within the 0.010 range from bronze silver and gold.... You have to beat the set times like in every other challenge in the whole series.

Used automatic, skid recovery and 1 abs, no other aids.

Beaten gold on Monza by 2,5 seconds. Haven´t uploaded it because Monza is so easy to get gold on. If you want I can record it and post it later today...

I don´t know exactly how long they took me, have golded them for 2 other people as well. Suzuka I had the most problems with tho, even after golding it for myself I had trouble to repeat it for friends. I guess I got Monza in less then an hour but it took me at least 4-6 hours each to get gold on Suzuka and Nurburgring.

I agree you are real good! Could you also highlight areas on that map that someone posted maybe write down what mph you should take each corner and what times for each section? If its not too much trouble
