Well yes but he only talked about "brand names" which is completely useless (like in NfS or MCLA, all parts are the same, never mind the manufacturer).

Yeah, but I'm talking about BRAND NAME PARTS, not tuners.

Think about it: you go to the tuning section of your car manufacturer, Pick the part you want to add (Tires, Engine, Turbo, etc.) and choose from brand names. you know, Goodyear, Firestone, Brembo, KKK, Blistein, Quaker State, etc., etc.

you know, just like Forza.

That seems like a better idea than the generic "NA Tune-Up Stage 1" :D

Not really, each part could be unique. It's only a question of applying different parameters for each part and wouldn't take up disk space. For example the GoodYear racing slicks may have a bit more grip when cold than the Pirelli slicks bt the Pirelli's grip a little better when at peak operating temperature, the Dunlop tyres might be have the best of both but wear the fastest etc. Same with other parts, the KKK turbo might offer a bit more power than the Jun turbo but at the expense of some more lag. Ofcourse if you throw in wear on individual parts that would open up the potential for different brand parts even more. Each part would be equal in that it has pro's and cons and differences part to part won't be huge, but once you've fully tuned your car the end results of all the parts together could create some very different machines if you use different parts.

I would love to see the tuning side exploded into an open ended structure rather than a linear one like it is now.

Very nice!! Man i hope this is in GT5

Each of those tuners also parts, very high quality parts, I have HKS and Blitz parts on one of my cars in real life.

What I'd like is a recreation of a typical Saturday/Sunday on the 'ring. Think about it....you are in..say...a civic type R and your having an epic driving battle with a poorly driven EVO...then all of a sudden, a TVR speed 6 is righ up behind you and after a while blasts past you and into the distance. You could evenly spaced cars, and varying drivers kill and cars.....so you could have the odd ferrari, but alot of m3s and such.

Sorry if this has already been suggested

Slight modifcation.....this idea would still be great, but we could also have one big online room for the Nurburgring. I think GTPers would see past all the fast cars, but more choose something challenging to have epic driving battles with friends. I would be cool to have like 100 people to a room. Some people would say this would be hard to do...and it would, but look at PS home.

But then being Gran Turismo they'd want to model everything correctly, which means another couple years wait.....

Edit: @ Nibbers, I think it's a good idea. Then people could see me prototype testing new tunes on the Ring, and we might even get a spy photography situation happening  (Not likely, but it'd be funny).

ALL OF THESE SUGGESTIONS ARE MEANT TO BE IMPLEMENTED AS OPTIONS. DO NOT QUOTE THIS POST AND ARGUE AGAINST THEIR INCLUSION, BECAUSE, BEING OPTIONS, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO USE THEM IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO.

  • The ability to choose whether or not you simply want to use the GT4 style of racing - that is, simply select A-Spec and go, or to manually do pace laps, warm-up laps, etd. with full control of the car for the more 'prestigious' events.
  • Full implementation of flag rules, along with AT THE VERY LEAST mechanical damage. There must be local/corner yellows, the occasional full course yellow, or even red flags. Personally, the biggest knock on GT4 is the fact there is no damage - at all. None. Nothing. Nothing at all. There is no damage at all, therefore it is not a real driving simulator, as it claims to be. There needs to be a way to DNF. If car manufactures will not allow visual damage, fine. But there have to be ways for you to not finish a race. Flat/exploded tires, engines quitting, and accumulated mechanical damage. Include the OPTION of doing your pit stops manually, and therefore running the risk of getting a penalty for speeding in the pit lane, crashing in the pit lane, or missing your stop and having to do another lap. The black flag should be shown to you (not as an on-screen graphic - when you pass the start/finish line, you should be able to see a marshal wave it) for reckless driving, speeding in the pit lane, course cutting, etc.
  • There should be the possibility of oil/fluid leakage from the cars, provided you've accumulated x amount of mechanical damage (or another car has as well), and what happens in real life during those situations (i.e. local yellow/oil flag, cars sliding off etc.) should be recreated. It would also be a cool touch to have, a few laps later, see a bunch of dust on the track where the spill was, which promptly clouds up into a real mess if you run over it.

You wouldn't have to model anything, you just vary certain parameters from part to part. In fact it could be relatively easy to implement, it would just require licenses if they wanted to use official brands.

How about a differnt form of racing. Racing for consistant lap times etc. This would allow anyone to enter any car provided there was not any race restrictions. Person with the most consistant lap times take 1st place prize etc.

well if there were heaps of cars...it'b be a bit like 24hr enduro at the nurburgring with all the different classes available.

Once again all they gotta do is rip a page out of NFS: Motorcity with this one.......That was one of the good thing about that game......

But it's Gran Turismo, it wouldn't be that simple. They'd have to get, for example, every single tyre and test what its true performance characteristics are, or people would be complaining about how the game is not true to life, and the game wouldn't be a simulator.

Rolling cars would be nice, instead of this spin ten times on the spot crap that GT4 currently has.

It would also be nice if the cars take damage or suffer some sort of handling issues if they hit the kurbs or the bumps to hard.

Why, do you think they do that now? They don't personally test every car they put into the games and any notion that do is misconcieved. There are tonnes of cars that have featured in GT games that PD staff never got behind the wheel of and tested, you know what they did? They let the computer work out roughly how the car should drive and then tweaked the setting themselves. GT4 had branded parts, the problem was they were all identical. To say that unless they tested each part it wouldn't be right is just a cop out. They don't do that with all the cars and parts as it is, most of the time they just take data from the manufactureres and use a bit of know how to fill in the holes.

Not to be repetive, but i was watching Supercars exposed, and a bunch of Ford GT drivers where at this school learning how to get the most out of their Ford GT. During the interview with the drivers they where saying how exciting it was to push the GT hard, and how it felt scary sometimes because the thought of crashing was in their back of their minds. If PD cant get visual damage the way they want im cool with that, but at least put in some type of damage system where if you hit a wall at 100 plus your race is over etc. When i play GTP5 i play as clean as possible, but i never get that thrill of pushing the car to the limit and at the same time making sure the car suffers no damage. So once again, PD  PLEASE give some type of real damage system.

sorry for my english.. i would like to see rally stages. not only rally tracks with laps.. i would like customazation of cars, enterior and exterier... then livery so you could make your own team and race with others teams..

It's not bad idea, but I would like to free roam in the country and not in cities, which ended very boring in all other games. But I bet if PD do this, it will be another game with different name. Imagine all those mountain roads, tuscany alleys and wonderful coastals to drive on...

Yea, now that i think about it. I would rather have nice open scenery of country roads. Would hurt to span about 30 miles of it.

More cars in the used car lots, less used car lot cycles with each one taking longer.

NO permanent engine power loss.

Working Garage/Paddock Area: You pick "Track meet" and you appear in the garage area. You mess around with the settings for and when your ready, you pull out the garage/paddock onto the pit lane. I think that would be good for everyone as offline, you can shakedown your Tuned vehicle and cool and online, it'd be great for Track Meetings for Pre-Season testing or Practice for the upcoming race.

Okay, so here it comes:

MY LONG AWAITED RETURNING GT5 WISHLIST

Now, to get serious.

FOUR MODES OF PLAY
  • Need For Speed Underground Mode
  • Burnout Inferno Mode
  • Twisted Metal Mode
  • LittleBigPlanet Mode, for the children

OPTIONS and PRESENTATION
  • Kazunori-dono's concept of GT opening like a museum, where you race through history. Because this is a museum, you must pay to enter each day, and since the dollar is collapsing, please convert all currency to Yen prior to seeking admission.
  • Downloadable elements such as concession stands, snacks, alcoholic beverages, weapons, body armor, tanks and helicopters. Keep in mind that this stuff costs money to produce, so keep your SONY Card handy, and as with the above, make sure your currency has previously been converted to Yen.
  • Music will be provided by N.E.R.D, and only one track will be necessary: Rockstar. Grind your teeth to the beat. Additional space will be provided for your own music to be loaded, and will promptly be converted to the best of Lawrence Welk, accompanied by a display of high resolution soap bubbles.

ENVIRONMENTS and EFFECTS
  • Weather will be included, and to increase the excitement, will include the most extreme conditions imaginable, from ice storms coating the road and windshields with ice, to tornadoes and hurricanes. And optionally, it can literally rain cats and dogs.
  • Endurance races include natural obstacles such as farm animals and dinosaurs, along with sudden earthquakes producing immense chasms. Jump that, Speed Racer.
  • Crowds react to your passage by throwing debris at your car with uncanny accuracy and spite. Watch out for the occasional anvil, roadrunner.
  • Damage: if you want it, here it comes. The slightest impact will have your car exploding like a Ford Pinto loaded with nitro.

CARS
  • GT5 will include EVERY Skyline imaginable. Since every car pales in comparison, no other cars will be included.
  • Upgrade your car with the most comprehensive list of accessories available, from tinted windows to neons inside the tires! Bet you didn't see that one coming.
  • Add as much bling to your ride as is conceivably possible to attract the fairer sex as you cruise down the Vegas Strip - more on that in a moment.

TRACKS
  • This is the next generation, so this time, Gran Turismo goes beyond the bounds of the Earth. Try racing down the sheer walls of a Martian canyon. And forget Touring Mars, race on the Martian moon Phobos. Hit the right speed and do circuits without a wheel touching the surface. Try racing on the sun - now that's what I call a hot lap! And to really stretch the imagination, the ultimate test will be a race inside a black hole, where non-matter is tested by un-physics in non-dimensional unreality. This time, no matter where you go, there you aren't.
  • Okay, but we all know what matters most to racers: picking up girls. So one track will be provided along the Vegas Strip lined with the loveliest ladies this side of a centerfold. If your ride doesn't outglam the sun, you might have to wave a few Franklins to catch a lady of the night's fancy. But go all out with the upgrades, and you'll be beating them off with a... well, whatever you want. For those who swing the other way, a variety of pink colors will be provided in the paint shop, and one section will feature The Village People, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and Barney Frank, if you want a little Congressional action. And for the truly exotic, see below.

RACES
  • As many races as possible will be included. The human race will be expanded dramatically with beings from the Star Wars universe, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Ratchet & Clank - if you have a thing for cat women, head on over to the Solaran district.

*whew* Okay, I think that should about do it. And get me tarred and feathered in the process. :sly:

I want a better sense of speed cause the game feels too slow , slower than reality and if someone want to show me now that F1 realife vs GT5P video on suzuka ... the GT5P is speed up to catch up with real life . 2nd I want, is that the G force is more simulated in the cockpit and roofcam. I want feel how it shakes the drivers ass around at high speed lol like in real life . 3rd thing I want a 360° spinable camera in 3rd person like in almost every racing game , i would love to spin around the car and see the wheels spinning that looks beautyful in GT

- I have noticed one things in gt5p... the blitz skyline is full of vinyl.. if you look more carefully only few kind of vinyl have Aliasing than others..
my opinion is that all the vinyls with Aliasing were putted on after the creation of the car, so i suppose that we will be able to put vinyl on our car..
so i'm not sure that we will be able to create a full custom livery like fm2, but probably PD will let us put vinyl on cars....
