Yeah, but I'm talking about BRAND NAME PARTS, not tuners.
Think about it: you go to the tuning section of your car manufacturer, Pick the part you want to add (Tires, Engine, Turbo, etc.) and choose from brand names. you know, Goodyear, Firestone, Brembo, KKK, Blistein, Quaker State, etc., etc.
you know, just like Forza.
Not really, each part could be unique. It's only a question of applying different parameters for each part and wouldn't take up disk space. For example the GoodYear racing slicks may have a bit more grip when cold than the Pirelli slicks bt the Pirelli's grip a little better when at peak operating temperature, the Dunlop tyres might be have the best of both but wear the fastest etc. Same with other parts, the KKK turbo might offer a bit more power than the Jun turbo but at the expense of some more lag. Ofcourse if you throw in wear on individual parts that would open up the potential for different brand parts even more. Each part would be equal in that it has pro's and cons and differences part to part won't be huge, but once you've fully tuned your car the end results of all the parts together could create some very different machines if you use different parts.
I would love to see the tuning side exploded into an open ended structure rather than a linear one like it is now.

What I'd like is a recreation of a typical Saturday/Sunday on the 'ring. Think about it....you are in..say...a civic type R and your having an epic driving battle with a poorly driven EVO...then all of a sudden, a TVR speed 6 is righ up behind you and after a while blasts past you and into the distance. You could evenly spaced cars, and varying drivers kill and cars.....so you could have the odd ferrari, but alot of m3s and such.
Sorry if this has already been suggested

You wouldn't have to model anything, you just vary certain parameters from part to part. In fact it could be relatively easy to implement, it would just require licenses if they wanted to use official brands. But then being Gran Turismo they'd want to model everything correctly, which means another couple years wait.....
Edit: @ Nibbers, I think it's a good idea. Then people could see me prototype testing new tunes on the Ring, and we might even get a spy photography situation happening(Not likely, but it'd be funny).

Why, do you think they do that now? They don't personally test every car they put into the games and any notion that do is misconcieved. There are tonnes of cars that have featured in GT games that PD staff never got behind the wheel of and tested, you know what they did? They let the computer work out roughly how the car should drive and then tweaked the setting themselves. GT4 had branded parts, the problem was they were all identical. To say that unless they tested each part it wouldn't be right is just a cop out. They don't do that with all the cars and parts as it is, most of the time they just take data from the manufactureres and use a bit of know how to fill in the holes. But it's Gran Turismo, it wouldn't be that simple. They'd have to get, for example, every single tyre and test what its true performance characteristics are, or people would be complaining about how the game is not true to life, and the game wouldn't be a simulator.
sorry for my english.. i would like to see rally stages. not only rally tracks with laps.. i would like customazation of cars, enterior and exterier... then livery so you could make your own team and race with others teams..
Okay, so here it comes:
MY LONG AWAITED RETURNING GT5 WISHLIST
Now, to get serious.
FOUR MODES OF PLAY
- Need For Speed Underground Mode
- Burnout Inferno Mode
- Twisted Metal Mode
- LittleBigPlanet Mode, for the children
OPTIONS and PRESENTATION
- Kazunori-dono's concept of GT opening like a museum, where you race through history. Because this is a museum, you must pay to enter each day, and since the dollar is collapsing, please convert all currency to Yen prior to seeking admission.
- Downloadable elements such as concession stands, snacks, alcoholic beverages, weapons, body armor, tanks and helicopters. Keep in mind that this stuff costs money to produce, so keep your SONY Card handy, and as with the above, make sure your currency has previously been converted to Yen.
- Music will be provided by N.E.R.D, and only one track will be necessary: Rockstar. Grind your teeth to the beat. Additional space will be provided for your own music to be loaded, and will promptly be converted to the best of Lawrence Welk, accompanied by a display of high resolution soap bubbles.
ENVIRONMENTS and EFFECTS
- Weather will be included, and to increase the excitement, will include the most extreme conditions imaginable, from ice storms coating the road and windshields with ice, to tornadoes and hurricanes. And optionally, it can literally rain cats and dogs.
- Endurance races include natural obstacles such as farm animals and dinosaurs, along with sudden earthquakes producing immense chasms. Jump that, Speed Racer.
- Crowds react to your passage by throwing debris at your car with uncanny accuracy and spite. Watch out for the occasional anvil, roadrunner.
- Damage: if you want it, here it comes. The slightest impact will have your car exploding like a Ford Pinto loaded with nitro.
CARS
- GT5 will include EVERY Skyline imaginable. Since every car pales in comparison, no other cars will be included.
- Upgrade your car with the most comprehensive list of accessories available, from tinted windows to neons inside the tires! Bet you didn't see that one coming.
- Add as much bling to your ride as is conceivably possible to attract the fairer sex as you cruise down the Vegas Strip - more on that in a moment.
TRACKS
- This is the next generation, so this time, Gran Turismo goes beyond the bounds of the Earth. Try racing down the sheer walls of a Martian canyon. And forget Touring Mars, race on the Martian moon Phobos. Hit the right speed and do circuits without a wheel touching the surface. Try racing on the sun - now that's what I call a hot lap! And to really stretch the imagination, the ultimate test will be a race inside a black hole, where non-matter is tested by un-physics in non-dimensional unreality. This time, no matter where you go, there you aren't.
- Okay, but we all know what matters most to racers: picking up girls. So one track will be provided along the Vegas Strip lined with the loveliest ladies this side of a centerfold. If your ride doesn't outglam the sun, you might have to wave a few Franklins to catch a lady of the night's fancy. But go all out with the upgrades, and you'll be beating them off with a... well, whatever you want. For those who swing the other way, a variety of pink colors will be provided in the paint shop, and one section will feature The Village People, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and Barney Frank, if you want a little Congressional action. And for the truly exotic, see below.
RACES
- As many races as possible will be included. The human race will be expanded dramatically with beings from the Star Wars universe, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Ratchet & Clank - if you have a thing for cat women, head on over to the Solaran district.
*whew* Okay, I think that should about do it. And get me tarred and feathered in the process.![]()
