Things you would like to see in GT5 other than cars?

You took the words right out of my mouth! :D:tup:

Thank you! I am new here, so any compliments from seasoned GTPlanet users [such as yourself] are going to make my day - and you did. ;) I am sincerely glad you liked my list - here's hoping that Kazunori Yamauchi approves of it too.

Yes, Black Chamber did an excellent job with his list. My only complaint is that he did not mention mechanical damage, damage to gears, brakes, or even flat spotting or blowing out tires.

But again, good list Black Chamber. I also agree with the customizable driver

Again, same as I said above - thank you for your kind words about my 1st reply! Also, the thing you mentioned about mechanical damage, damage to gears, brakes or even blowing tires is something I overlooked - but YES! They should definitely include those things to make Gran Turismo 5 the pinnacle of realism in the racing game genre.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the "tedium" of tweaking, fixing, modifying, replacing and just generally taking care of my virtual rides is something that I would genuinely LOVE to do!

In Metal Gear Solid 3, I was one of the few fans that actually loved the Cure System - where you take care of Naked Snake's vitals by eating, repairing physical damage, removing bullets, sterilizing and suturing open wounds, remedying poisons and splinting broken limbs.

It made the game all the more atmospheric and realistic to me - like I was there doing it myself. Gran Turismo 5 should give us that same exact feeling.

In GT5 I would like to see every thing on BLACK CHAMBER's list and even more those are very good ideas compiled together to make a great list.

Thank you ZANELE! I would also like to see dust and debris hitting the windshield - possibly making it dirty and it could be remedied by turning on the windshield wipers or a pit stop to have the pit crew clean it off for you.

Personally, I think having functional windshield wipers would be better. ;)

This is taken from an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi in 2007. It illustrates my point about how to look at vehicle damage in Gran Turismo 5:

Regarding realism, when will we see car damage?

Yamauchi: Right now we're testing this. We will see car damage in GT5. There are three problems to solve though. Firstly, some car manufacturers don't care to see damage in their cars but others would never allow that. Some cars will be damaged and others won't, depending on the manufacturer. Secondly, the simulation. In Daytona Speedway, for instance, going slightly sideways when getting out of the banked curve and entering the straight section and hitting slightly the rear part of our car against the sides of the track will make our car become utter junk. Game over. It's a small mistake, but physics calculations tell us we'd undergo a 150 G force. That equals death. The car is literally disintegrated. We do not want that. We do not want to destroy the cars. I don't like that. That's ultra-realistic simulation, but if it happens, the game is over, you lose your car. I'm resisting to accept that kind of effect. Right now we're looking into how to make pure simulation and these kind of situations be compatible with each other. And the third problem, the fact that many driving games out there feature this kind of accidents, but I've never seen one which actually provide something positive or are perfect from a technical standpoint. I've got to think a lot about it yet, but I understand the series supporters do want damage and accidents because, for the better or worse, they're an integral part of reality.

Yamauchi says it would be totally frustrating to develop for Wii because of its lack of processing power and that while people, the industry and media say PS3, Wii and 360 are "Next Gen", the only true Next Gen is provided by PS3.

I agree with his analysis.

Possibility to configure HUD and voice communication with pit crew and stuff - asking about time, car status etc. Something like was in "Endwar". It works quite good and was not many problems with command recognition.

i dont know if this has been mentioned but i want my car to have a mechanical failure. This wouldnt happen often if the car is stable but it still does happen. I wouldnt want it to happen to me in a 24 hour race though.

I would like to make engine swaps in GT5
Examples: A V8 in a Mazda Miata(see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gncfIvMRdSs) or even a V8 in a Lotus Elise.....
What you think guys :tup:or 👎

Has been said before but the problem is licensing issues, what V8 would you fit in the Miata? Chev? Would Mazda be happy to have a Chevrolet engine replace theirs? Probably not. Though putting engines from the same car maker will probably work, like a RX7's 13B turbo in the Miata and a Cosmo's 20b in the RX7. :D

Interesting list. I especially like the following suggestions:

Time of Day changes - with many games now featuring this for sometime (namely GTA franchise) I think its about time this were featured for sure, in particular the endurance race situations.

Weather Transitions - If youre going to have day/night cycles you might as well have changeable weather conditions (even if there is not day/night) this is a must have.

Heres a suggestion of mine.
A "quick tune/recommended setting" type of option which allows you to get a car set up quickly with a decent setup, or if you choose to further tune from this setup if needed.

I would love to see in endurance racing or any other types of racing, different car class racing. Lets say LE MANS cars and GT cars, you choose one or the other, enter a race, its going to be fun, you will have to let pass the faster class by, but you will try to overtake your class cars. Its good now since we have 16 cars on track now.

Would they really need to be licensed? I personally think generic V8 into miata etc would be fine.

Differences between each tuning company (unless this was already in GT4). It's a fact some companies make nicer performance parts in real life so why not in GT5? It would take a lot of work but it would make the game a lot more realistic. The only problem I see is that some companies parts will be useless.

Everyone is asking for Trophies.
Since GT4 was so huge of a game to complete, not everyone had all full 100% completed with all GOLD and what not. Now we will have ONLINE events so that means we will have trophies for SINGLE and MULTIPLAYER events, how about two separate PLATINUM trophies one each for single and multi side? GT5 I bet will be such a HUGE and EPIC game, At least I would love to have all SINGLE PLAY trophis, because I know ONLINE will be so competitive and hard to get trophies.

Worst thing they can do is give trophies for online wins...for obvious reasons. Online trophies should be for # of races online, # of online races finished, # of races online without an accident/penalty, etc etc. Give trophies that would help the quality of online play.

More things I would like to see:

- A video replay editor that is just as in depth as photomode. Ability to cut and chop video, ability to cut and chop music that the game provides to lay over the video, slow motion, blur effects, captions, etc etc. The works.

- skid marks (lol....)

- 90 or 100 liter fuel tanks for all cars instead of 80

- L3 and R3 = windshield wipers / headlights

- Ability to start midway around the Nurburgring in practice

- proper HP for prototypes. the Pescarolo c60 has 640HP , not 900

- Effects of weight reduction should be visible. When you look around in the car it should be stripped down after a stage 3 weight reduction

I've always wanted that. Have all the video effects from GT3 included with that as well.

Earth
- skid marks (lol....)

Haha, better come prepared with some clorox for that.

Ok this might sound odd but i would like a wee bit more atmosphere at some tracks,Cote dAzur springs to mind as being a bit lifeless. Think GT4 had some crowd noise could be wrong tho, but i`d like a bit more, maybe a cheer for a pass on a rival or a boo if you have contact!!

Maybe even go as far as different grandstands supporting different cars, like DTM or JTGC!!

I would like to see

1. animals running into the track, so if you're driving in the arctic a polarbear would suddenly appear and attack your car. and it will be an elephant in India :D

2. Online Free Roam, so you don't have to enter races to host drift competitions or other stuff

i would like to have team mates/ co-drivers which you can hire and use them 4 enduro races so u dont have 2 play for the whole 24hr or however long the race is.

When was the last time you crashed into a polar bear racing in the arctic. :sly:

I don't know if someone have mention this before but anyway here I go
PD could let us the possibility to try the cars before buying them in somekind of a showroom with a test track (From GT4 maybe) right beside the showroom (like in PGR2 for the people who have played it). You could walk (First person) around a main building with multiple showrooms for every brand or country (Yes I know there will be a lot of cars in GT5:sly:)

I'm sure that someone must have mentioned this already but I don't have the time to read through a 161 page thread!

How about races that have a budget limit? It always seemed to me that the biggest flaw with the GT games is that you can you throw a heap of money at a car, make it way faster than anything else on the grid and win races without necessarily having any skill.

I guess what I'm suggesting is kinda similar to the pp system in Prologue. But limiting cars to money spent instead.

Amen to that, brother 👍 I'm tired of buying cars in GT4 only to find out that they are crap for my personal needs

That is all relative mate, think about it

If you are wanting it to be harder to win, all you have to do is not tune your car

PD give you the choice to either win easily, or race cars that are similar or even worse than the competitors

And besides, the harder races do have horse power limits

There were never hp limits in GT4, but you're exactly right. It still baffles me why people complain the races are too easy because the cars they use can be too fast, just use slower cars for pete's sake!

I think you've kind of missed my point. I suggested it because I think it would add to the quality of the game. Not only would you need more skill playing wise but it would also add to the strategy element of the game. You would be forced to really think about which tuning options are necessary.

What got me thinking about it was a show I saw recently where people raced cars but had to be able to prove that they hadn't spent more than $2000 on them.

A much better currency value instead of just credits .Like US dollars , EUROs or YEN (could be optional depending on your region or your prefrence) so you will have a greater sence of how much you are spending and how much thing are worth in the game . Hope they do something about it this time around . Well
E3 is days away we will just wait and see.
