I've ditched that RX8 picture for now. I found something better. :D This is gonna be one of the hardest vectors I've tried, I'm hoping it would turn out good.

Off to work now. :D

I don't know of much that could be better than that RX-8. That thing is beautiful. That's gonna be my next "Gradient.":D

the reason i wont use the rx8 for the vector comp is because peeps are already started on it 👍

It's so fun because you are so arrogant. What you do isn't so hard. I don't know why you are a professional. In fact, I've got a customer already. Soon I too will be a professional. For $10 I'm going to "Gradient" a guys Corvette. How much do you charge?
Your art form will die as soon as people find out how easy it is to do. It just takes time. Also, I think it's just a fad.

I printed out your RX-7 picture and my Skyline. 8 out of 10 people liked mine better. I don't know if this is valid to you or not, and I don't really care, but still. Cool results I think.

Did I piss you off enough?

Edit: I brought both pictures to my school, where I asked the students what picture they liked better. Sorry I didn't explain that.
Im sorry folks if you dont want to read this **** anymore, but I just gotta set this guy straight.
Listen, I dont give the slightest **** if your little homies like your work. I dont care if you think you are some kind of professional because you work for 10 bucks. Im not a professional vector artist, there is no such thing. I am a commercial artist. I do ads, flyers, banners, etc, etc. The majority of the work I do just happens to be for automotive companies, hence all this ****.
Now that you have the facts on what it is I do, be quiet. No one cares that you think you are better than a guy who makes $300-$600 for something your "friends" thinks sucks. All this crap I post is leisure work, Ive made that clear millions of times here.
Satisfied? Grow up.

My friends don't like being refered to as "homies." Also, I'm a professional video editor. I make commercials for local TV stations, and the occasional Halo video (like Timing). And nobody cares about that, but I decided to post it so maybe I'd have a little recognition for what I do. Being a professional video editor, I can look at the videos here (like Gran Dorifto) and say, that's pretty cool. I don't have to say that the creator did a horrible job editing, and that the industry wouldn't accept his video because I know the industry and the industry doesn't like that.

The main thing I don't like about you is that you're arrogant. Way too arrogant. Yes, you have talent and whatever it takes to use a paint program, but you're still just a jerk.

You can't just save a image with the pen tool.

You need more than that right?

It's not perfect yet, and I'll color it tomorrow, but here's my start.

Again, I use Flash MX, it works great for outlining. No jaggies (unless I screwed up.)

My Skyline was completely made in Flash MX dude.

For outlining, click the line tool, then click at the starting and ending points of whatever line you need to trace. Now go to the arrow tool and bend the line. Simple as that. Moving the mouse in different ways bends the line differently. You can replicate any curve.

As for shading, I use gradients.

Hit help and go to lessons. Go through the illustrating one. That's all I needed to make my Skyline. That and experimentation.

I hate PMing... Here you go.

Use enough lines? It would look way better if you did away with your gradients and did away with half of all those un-needed lines. Your line art is great, but jagged. You still got alot to improve.
If you are going to use gradients then you need to do away with black lines and 2 thirds of your lines altogether. Otherwise it will continue to look like a paint by numbers, you get what Im sayin? :)

I'm taking out most of them, I just use them to seperate colors at first.

Sorry about the triple post...

Anyway, I finished the rear wheel and took out most of the un-needed lines. I still have a little touching up to do, but this is gonna be close to the finished product.

I found this thread, and decided to take a swing at it. Thanks to donbenni for the great tutorial and inspiration. This is pretty fun. ;)

Anyway, here's a work-in-progress WRX.

The wheels on the source car are very complex, and will probably take longer than the car itself did. :)

Anyway, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Ok, I touched it up and removed the lines from the wheels (which improved them IMO). Finally finished...
