Track List Feedback

I'm not liking Cape Ring. From the gameplay videos, it just looks boring. There's nothing iconic about it the way there is with Grand Valley. It reminds me of something out of Forza with the way the whole circuit has been designed so that all configurations can be run as one long circuit. The opposing hairpins just look silly, though the south circuit doesn't look too bad.

I like how people make up their minds without playing. Cape Ring is awesome, easily one of my favourite GT tracks of all time, its such a blast to drive regardless of type of car. It has a little bit of everything in it, but the main factor in its awesomeness is just a really nice flow. Its a super-smooth surface with the perfect camber so you can really attack every corner. Its very rewarding to drive fast.

For 5-6 years in the works I'm disappointed.
I also wanted: Silverstone, Spa, Road America, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Estoril, Motegi, Passo dello Stelvio, Hockenheim, Imola, Mugello, Citta di Aria, Grand Canyon, Red Rock Valley, Old GT2 Rome Layout, Seattle.

EDIT: oh what the hell! I just noticed that only Toscana La Sarthe and Nurburgring have day/night cycle.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????:banghead::banghead:
How dare you call that a "feature"?

Who said they would be in? Take it for what it is, not for what it isn't.

Did the person who "leaked" the videos ever do a video of the tracks in the game?.

Id be curious to see if the list we have been given actually matches the tracks in that "leaked" version. Maybe if the person responsible see's this you can compare and let us know.

Something tells me we may not see anymore "leaked" videos with the news of the game finally having a "real" release date though.

Just call be cynical if you will.

AA

Well the person(s) with a leaked copy doesn't seem to be a GT fan, he plays with race music on, racing line, he can't hit an apex in a miata, his latest video about damage is recorded in arcade mode, he's a stoner who stole a copy somewhere in the production/distribution chain.

I'm also not a fan of Special Stage Route 7. It doesn't look like there's anything too challenging in it; it's just flat out.

This is a circuit meant for multiplayer, I can't wait to play SSR7 in splitscreen, me and my friend loved Tokyo Xtreme Racer.

I think this is a nice track list, yeah we lost some btu we have gained Cape Ring which looks stunning, the Nurburgring GP track of course and Monza, Toscana, Eiger etc all gained, not to mention the "course maker" who knows what will come out of that.

This is a strong track list imo. I certainly wont get my hopes up for DLC.

Who said they would be in? Take it for what it is, not for what it isn't.
GT5's time in the works?
Prologue's weather locations?
Tracks from Prologue's bluray code?
Stickers on PD's baggages?
German article about a german track in GT5?
Article about Time Trial and choice of the track?
Video showing tracks names on a computer screen at PD's offices?
Vision Gran Turismo trailer?
Various trailers?
High definition screens? (way too HD for GTPSP)

And then you could still answer "but they never said those would be in". Yeah whatever, let me be upset...

Nope.

I would have given anything for just one point-to-point mountain pass.
I don't know about a mountain pass but given you can create an unlimited number of upto 10km point-to-point tracks in four different locations that seems to have things covered.

I think people are underestimating how popular these open road tracks will be.

Wow, worse list than expected. Though after the practice selection video I sort of expected it.

This is without a doubt the worst track list of any GT game so far. Considering it is the most recent with highest expectations and longest development period, it is very disappointing. I'd rather have GT1's track list, because I would at least be able to race my favorite track.

I'll still buy the game but I'm very disappointed with the track selection. Where's Apricot Hill and Midfield Raceway? My PS2 broke before GT4 was released so I guess I can count myself lucky that I won't miss the tracks that were exclusive to that title. And I won't miss Tahiti Road and Red Rock Valley either as they were too boring.

All in all, too many "cheating" variations (especially Fuji) and nowhere near enough weather/time tracks. Seriously, how hard was it to simulate rain on all tracks?

While I'm disappointed at the number of tracks that got cut at least I have my favourite (Trial Mountain) and the new Cape Ring track looks pretty awesome.

I don't understand the reaction of people here, the game has been in development for 6 years, it looks amazing and so far it sounds amazing. Tet quite a few people in here would want more, how many extra years should they work on it to keep you all happy. The way i see it, just play GT5, take it for what it is and hope that when GT6 comes around Kaz comes around to you all personally and asks what he has to do to keep you happy, then he goes away and this time works for 10 years on the next GT game just to keep you all happy.

I love the look of all the new tracks in, but many classics are missing, at least a few more from GT4 should be in. I really hope this is still just the initial unlock list and more are unlocked as we play... is that still a possibility that they don't want to give them away?

I'm disappointed that no historic Monza layout was included 👎

No Spa 👎

No Bathurst (or anything new related to Australia at all)

I'm struggling to fathom how they can add so little content over 6 years.

Big letdown.

The problem is that after 6 years, you really shouldn't have to bringup the "extra" years argument... especially when 80% of your game is a port from a previous version...

I think some said it already, but what really puzzles me, is that important tracks like Motegi are not there any more, I simply can not understand why, it is a very good and important track, but as some also said probably, it could be unlockable, who knows.

Agreed but I too think they didn't reveal everything. Look at it this way, if they told you everything that would be in the game, there leaves no room excitement. Non-GT fans are probably scared off now. I prefer them to not even have given that list. I am fine with the cars. But the tracks are disappointing. I am optimistic that the track list is not so official. They held out some. What game do you know tells all the content before it comes out...............still thinking. How about None. Honestly I think its the official Practice track list and tracks available to start out the GT Life and Arcade.

I'd be happier if they had saved the data spent on the intro, and used it for more tracks/cars. We went from Van Halen in GT4 to f'n MCR. Perhaps I'm getting old (stupid kids and their stupid music), but I don't mind losing 4 minutes of intro and gaining a track or two.

That being said, I am in no way a developer, nor a licensing agent. Perhaps one, or both, had something to do with some tracks being left out.

I truly hope the track list is not including unlockables, but I kind of think we would have heard about that by now... the positive features tend to get press time and all...

NO Midfield! Wonder what i`ll have to use as a setup track now instead. Midfield had a bit of everything and didnt take 7-8 mins lap either. :ouch:

Posted on the track list thread, but i´ll post here, because i wanna hear your opinion.

--------------

Alright, i´ve settle down on my initial disappointment and i will enjoy this game. I´m certain i will put endless hours into it. However, i do like to talk about this, specially with some other die-hard fans that i´m sure followed this whole GT5 development process. I don´t think it´s unfair to PD to discuss the issue of the track list being a bit short.

I´m sure Akira, hardvibes and others will remember most of the things i will post here.

I don´t understand the track list because we had so many indications of the final number being different.

I know it´s unreasonable to want all Nascar tracks in, like some suggested.

It´s also hard to expect that all tracks from the weather map to show, altough, their decision to put that in Prologue was a major tease.

But it´s not unreasonable to expect the things that they´ve worked on to be in the final game.

Let´s go back to 2006, during E3. They´ve shown GT HD classic, with upscaled cars and tracks from GT4. Later on they changed their plans, but the upscaled cars from GT4 are the same ones used in GT5 with the standard models.

I bring this up because they worked on those assets and showed them in 1080p. People played El Capitan and Grand Canyon in HD, in 2006.

Now they´re gone? In the garbage?

Clues, lots of clues...

Kaz mentions the upcoming game having content from previous games.
Then Prologue lists all those tracks in the credits
Then a PD employee is caught going through his computer and browsing files from GT tracks, showing a bunch of tracks that could make a return.
Then GT PSP appears, is supposed to have less content than GT5, but throws in a lot of tracks that would naturally make their way into GT5
Then Jeff Rubenstein from Sony says the game will actually have 40 tracks with 100 configurations.

This year during the Le Mans demo, the track is listed as premium, leading us to believe that there are standard tracks in GT5.

In august of 2009, during gamescon, they give us the 20 tracks 60 variation figure for the first time. Since this turned out to be true, how can they spend one and a half year without adding a single track?

Unlike with GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4, there isn´t any issue with disk space.

And let´s talk about the real tracks:

Jordan gets a word that the GT Academy could be on Indy or Spa.
Spa stickers are seen on PD´s travel bags, meaning they did visited the circuit during work. All the other tracks they visited are in the game.

So, they went there, took photos and all... but decided to not put in the final game? Maybe it´s still not finished? Not likely.

In 2006, they went out and licensed Circuit de Valencia. Was used on TT and GT PSP. Would they put all the effort to model a real track, spend a lot of man hours just to use it in two side projects? Doesn´t make sense, right?

--------------

What i wonder is... those tracks were all worked on by PD. We´re not questioning tracks they never modelled like Bathurst, but these examples i gave... it´s just hard to understand.

GT HD Classic had all the old time favorites in 1080p, i refuse to believe they threw that in the trash bin.

The only logical explanation for this, if no more tracks show up, is that Sony made them hold back content to sell it as DLC.

That´s the only thing that makes sense, because, why would they waste their times if those tracks wouldn´t be used in the future?

What do my fellow GTPers think about all this?

Actually I think your average person hears 27/28 tracks, some with weather, and a few day/night and they are blown away.

It is us that have different expectations.

By the way, the box art has the 20+ 70+ on the back.

What do my fellow GTPers think about all this?

I think a lot of stuff has gone down with GT5 that throws logic out the window... some kind of problems, unforseen difficulties or maybe just bad planning and spreading yourself too thin... maybe *gasp* PD isn't the invicible perfect software house and just isn't getting lucky this time around...

While I want to find out that the old tracks are unlocakble and somehow in, I just don't feel that it's likely... regardless of the fact they travelled to those places.

I think it's very possible that lots of stuff is being heald back for GT6 (to make sure it's got enough new content to justify a purchase) and possibly that Sony is itching to millk the DLC and cover some cost of GT5...

Either of those would piss me off a lot though... I don't like when a company knowingly holds back content to squeeze more money out of you down the road one way or another... Honestly with GT5 I would think they would be just as well suited to make it a $65 or $70 game and pack all potential DLC in. $5 or $10 from every single sale vs hoping you sell DLC seems like a better bet to me and would alleviate feelings of getting scammed.

If some tracks aren't unlocked or DLC I'd say Sony/PD could get sued or something for false advertisement. Any car or track that is shown in the intro should be in the game. Demos and trailers are what drives the public to purchase. Inaccurate info is padding sales. It could impact future sales for this release and beyond.

I was afraid the circuit was designed to appear to that crowd. Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Lol, I guess you aren't a true petrol head, you'll find ovals with 15 opponents boring aswell, tho it might not be enough, 30 is more suitable, but still, have fun in your tunnel vision.

I try to avoid spoilers so I didnt want to read the tracklist but then I saw so many disappointed reactions that I had to know why. When I saw the list my stomach turned. After 20 minutes now, I still feel like I have to puke. I can't believe this is it. Its GT4 plus the demo tracks. I have seen all these tracks allready and yes I really tried to avoid spoilers! If it was in full hd then I still had something to look at but it isn't.
What kind of sick joke is this?
