What start time is best for you?

Well... I guess I have some major work to do on my GTR... Now I wish I had picked the Vette... And the Lexus is underrated, its a good car but I think the Vettes have the field with this config.

I got confused on the start. I passed after that last right hand corner at the starting point but then changed my mind later because it felt like it wasnt right... Hence why I moved over to let everyone pass... Oh well, I still have a BAD setup right now.

I tried the GT-R34 Nur tune on this thing and it made me 2 seconds slower than my tune but I just cannot figure out how to let this car out much more than I have it without it being squirrelly.

Great race SagarisGT 👍

Hey, I said I would be holding up the back of the pack. Also, could have done probably with those exact settings 17 laps BUT fighting for positions took several laps off my tires. After my pit and not having anyone to race really but myself my 2nd set of tires held up a bit better. My tune outright sucks.... Can we do engine tuning? The first page says no but I dont see any other way to take 4 seconds off of my lap times....

Remember, no overtaking until the start of lap two. The start point is where the leader can start race pace, but no overtaking until the start line.

Also, everyone remember to come to a complete stop in the line-up area and then wait for the "start" command. It just makes it easier for me to type out the start command at when stopped so the auto-drive doesn't take over and causing havoc.

Here's the preliminary results:

I'll have the proper results in the spreadsheet later today or tomorrow.

Thank for coming out everyone! Hope to see a big grid next Sunday for Round 1.

Thank you. So I did right then with all due respect letting the passes happen. Like I said, it felt off but I wasnt sure exactly. Thats what this practice is good for. It teaches us those basics to the race series 👍

Again thank you for a great race series! ;)

Preseason Race Result

Congratulations to Hasslemoff!! 👍

I think the race went well with all three cars represented on the podium. No major incidents, except I did cut turn 2 myself twice by mistake. And I qualified on Sports Hard tires, which is technically illegal. Luckily for me, it was just the preseason.

I'll get another timer set-up soon and I'll revise the race procedure to make things more clear and I'll insert more signals as there was some confusion today at the start of the Super Lap session and before the race start in the line-up area.

I'll have to cancel my entry as I am unable to commit to the series properly. Very sorry...
I'm sorry to hear that.

sagaris, i said to you that after the race, but i want to do publicly here, your series are the most professionally organized i race so far in the GTPlanet site.
By far.
And you know to cuddle your´s participants.
All this in opposition to another´s, who claim to be very well organised´s in they regulations, maybe to try to hide the fact that they are not, starting with they regulations in-self.

Seeing the replay, i noted that the numbers in the cars are in different letter type, something that give the impression that they are in different races.
I suggest to define a letter type (type 2 is the one with a modern look and easier reading), for a more realistic look to the competition.

Cheers.

I have to agree, it was very well organized. I've raced in other series, some were ok and some were run badly. Keep up the good work Sag. Everyone seemed to listen and raced pretty clean. No major incidents. It was fun. Gotta tune my GTR better. Seemed very slow compared to the VETTE.

The vette was pretty quick, 1.4 sec quicker than my pb infact.
But I'm quite sure that the gap could be less with the right tune/driver.

My fault, I was not sure wether I should of stopped so I just slowed right down, then you typed stop so I slammed the brakes on sorry.

Like its been said very well organised and it should run smooth for the main races 👍

Good race by all, I was surprised that I got that much of lead I had to check the car settings after the race to see if I had the correct settings (which I did). Its one of my favourite cars and after running trial mountain on the WRS i've had a fair bit of practice on that track.

Ill post my tune for the corvette hopefully tonight if you want to give it a go.

Thanks for all the kind words. :)

It wasn't clear before, it's no problem.

That's a very good suggestion and I probably would have If I was starting this now. But at this point, I will let everyone have the font that they choose. It's late now and everyone has already chosen their font.

Update: I've edited the qualifying and race start procedures. The actual procedure is the same, but I believe the written procedure is now more clear and I've added a few command signals to move things along more smoothly.

Whats everyone getting for lap times?? So i can get an idea on where I'm at and need to be. :nervous:

For me: 23s were good laps, high-22s were great laps when I was running test races before the season.

I have not been able to get my car anywhere near the 1:22/23s. :(

I'm ok with switching number plate font. :) just take two seconds before you enter the car.

Looking forward to next week. I actually have all the power and PP in the car. Gained a load of torque very little HP but gained two PP. I tried running all mods except engine. Only 618pp. Install stage one engine and detune slightly and got 620pp HP gained 1 or 2. My TQ went up. Dont recall how much but enough to get me two PP.

Anyway hopefully this week the Vettes are not so dominate. LOL

Crap I missed the practice race!! I see I'm the only one that hasn't chosen a car:ouch: I would prefer the Vette but I'll take any car if I have to, to balance things out. Just let me know so I can buy whichever car I need and get it broken in by Sunday:tup:

It'll be Purple/Gold #25 no matter which car it is.

I don't want to be restrictive this late on. I'll put a recommendation for Font Type 1 in the OP, but I won't make a regulation.

If you prefer the Vette, take the Vette. We had a balanced grid in the preseason race. There are less Lexuses registered than the other two, but we don't require more of them. I'd rather have people driving the cars that they want to more than anything.

Okay Sag, I'll take the Vette then, Purple/Gold, #25, Font 1.

Edit: Let's not be hasty...lol. I'll try and drive all three cars and then I'll pick one if that's ok.

Was hitting low 23's and the 22's to keep the tyres fresh, a bit more practice and i'll hopefully aiming for constant 22's.

Yeeeah... No where close to those times with the Skyline. My closest was low 1.28's maybe can get into high 1.27's. About 5 seconds off. :scared: Guess my driving skills aren't so up to par. 👎 :indiff:

Have no idea on cutting seconds off my lap time.

I'll probably regret this choice from a tire wear standpoint, but it's a real challenge for me to get a 4wd to turn and not burn up the front tires, so I'll take the GT-R and the uphill battle:idea: I can see myself making two pit stops:ouch:

Purple/Gold #25

Just as an aside, not sure if it affected everyone but the servers seemed to go offline today for a few minutes. At least that was the message I got when I was punted, and my internet connection was fine at the time or at worst, a few seconds after when I checked it.

It's race day (or almost)!!

A few things to note/remember:
-Familiarize yourself with the qualifying and race procedure. It would make things a lot easier for me if everyone knew what was happening.
-I will open the room much earlier than I did last week; it will be open between a half-hour and a full-hour prior to the start of qualifying.
-If you disconnect during or just prior to qualifying, send me a message as soon as possible.

Track specifics:
-Race is 30 laps
-All hard surfaces are track; remember, you must have at least two tires on or over the track at all times.

Track Map

The small yellow mark is the point where the leading car can go full speed, but no overtaking until the start of lap 2.
The blue area (in the tunnel) is the line-up area where the grid will gather in order on lap 1. Remember to come to a complete stop during the line up phase, and then wait until the race director will issue the 'START' signal.
I can see myself making two pit stops:ouch:
I'd be surprised if most of the field didn't make two stops. 1 stoppers will have to drive very carefully to preserve their tires and that might not be the fastest strategy with the short pit lane here at Trial Mountain Reverse.

Little tuning session with Saga tonight.

He got 22.8 out of the Lexus

I got 23.2 out of my Vette. With more in it as I learn to drive and tune it. Like it a lot better. Then again I'm a Chevy guy at heart. Which btw I'm gonna be using.

Update: Corvette drivers, the regulations pertaining to the PP and weight of your car will change before and maybe after Round 1 due to tire wear performance advantages. As of right now, a small PP decrease is being implemented for R1 (down from 611PP to 610PP) and there may be a weight increase occurring for the rest of the season (without PP change). I apologize for bringing this up right before the first race and all the inconvenience it may cause.
Le Mans Green / Chrome
lol, that's my signature colour. Raced the Toyota 86 and Silvia RM in that colour, and that Camaro in ORCA just a few days ago.

No probs, I tryed with the lexus the other day and found the lap times and tyre wear was not much diffrence for me. Never tryed the GTR.
But Im all for close racing and by the sounds of the lap times people are getting should be a great race.

Nice to see you join Speedy 👍

I'll do the colours when I get to the race (not bought the car yet lol). Only reason I'm joining this series is because it's on a Sunday, plus I recognise Owens_Racing + have my team mate from GT4 Cup here (Racing World). Are there going to be any teams in this event?

Also, if it's not too much trouble could you send me a setup / run in Lexus? Most appreciated ^^.

I still consider the cars equal in pace with the original PP levels, but I believe there is a tire wear advantage the Corvette. Not just because you and Takitala had better tire wear during the preseason, I personally was getting further with less tire degradation in the Vette than the two other cars. In my preseason testing, I wrongfully assumed that this was due to my setups. I now think it's universal.

Welcome! Unfortunately, Racingworld has withdrawn due to the race time not working for him.

The manufacturers are the teams. Glad to see another Lexus, we are a little short of them with Owens switching to Corvette and Lancer missing some races.

Mass understeer in Lexus?

Last minute question here. In the regs it says no changes to the car between the first Q session and the Super Lap session. But it doesn't say anything about changes between the Super Lap session and the race? Can we make adjustments after qualifying is over and before the race starts?
