With the new regulations, my car's underweight, so I'll have to think up a new one.

Yeah, I'm keen to team up Xku considering we extremely closely matched When Xku's not flying off the track into a barrier!. I've also been wondering wether it's just the same colour or the whole car altogether.

Anyways, I love the colour, true evo colours. The EVO IX is actually a great car for tuning imo. I was beating a GTR even when my car was undertuned.
 
If you team up, the cars may be either the same or different (ideally the same, or not too different - perhaps you can have a theme car, eg. Evos), but the colours (body and wheels) must be exactly the same. If one car is a standard model and the other a premium, the premium should choose a colour as close a possible to the standard's wheel colour. Obviously, if both are standards, only the body colour matters.
 
I'll pick up an Evo IX and have a look, if not I'll just use my Evo VI put I'd prefer to use the same and I like the 9, I'll try and get hold of one tomorrow and break it in a little.

So your cool with the red & White? Also do we want to go with the carbon bonnet? So i know when I'm tuning. That's good, now all we need is a name!

When's the next practice gonna be? I had stuff to do today so I had to sit out two races.

What do you think about doing a manufacturer points award too? Just use the driver points and what car make they use and add it all up. Would give some info and stats on the most used/dominant makes.

That was a fun practice night. I did much better than I thought I would, though my router reset itself halfway through the Suzuka race. T_T

I'll be looking forward to this series.

I actually think 19L is away from home because he said something about that at the end of the first pre-season race. :nervous:
 
I think he said something about going to see le mans this weekend, not 100% sure though. I bought an Evo 8 the other day, might have to run it instead of my Evo 6, better in every way!

Anyone got any bargains on the half price OCD? I'm in the process of winning all the events in my new formula gt, also got a BMW v12, astra touring car, m3 race car, and I'm saving up for the bentley speed 8.
 
Only thing I've bought out of the new OCD so far is an RUF RGT. I won a Pescarolo C60, a Ford GT LM Spec II and a Ford GT LM in the Expert Seasonals.
 
I've had a horrible let down finally getting the CSL. I can't drive it at all at this hp/weight. :D It's too much for me. :lol: I need some more forgiveness or something than this car allows at the apex of turns.
Does anyone have any suspension set-up advice for the CSL? LSD advice? Driving advice?
I've tried a couple of set-ups I've found online, I've tried doing it myself... And I'm just becoming convinced the car won't be good as long as I'm the one in control of it!

I've only so far tried the Evo VI unmodified. It does seem like it has inherently stable characteristics. But we'll see what happens after I jack it up with more foot pounds & whatnot. :D I may be singing a different tune. But as much as I hate choosing cars that lots of other people are using... I may do it anyway if it works out. ;)

I can gift you a couple of cars to try out if you want, I'll let you know what I have and if you're interested I'll throw it your way. I've found 4wd is the way to go with this series, little slower but much more forgiving and easier to drive!

I've been told I'm the Volvo of gt5 racers... I look for consistency over the long term, stability, & ability to recover well, in the event of an accident. :D (Over just pure speed, which is likely to send me into a barrier at some point.)

I'll put up the setup at some point tonight, grinding the events at the moment for that '69 gt40 in the OCD! I've got all the other cars that were above 500k now I just need this one for the classic championship!

Whilst I do like stability, ease of use and consistency I do love having a fast car, in this series and the SFRS I have been aiming towards a 175mph top speed on all tracks. Unless it's something like nurburg where I tone down the speed and go for acceleration. I believe the Evo is pretty tame, I think it took a hit with the switch between softs and mediums but nothing that can't be fixed with a few practices.

So far I've managed to get a 1:10.378 on High speed ring with it (whilst not really paying attention) since the change. Was getting consistent 1:09's before. So hopefully it'll be OK for you. I also am finding it SO difficult to get the rear out on it! No matter how hard I try (bar using the handbrake) it barely shifts. Can be a tiny bit understeery and if you do overdo it on the corners the front tyres will take the most of it but I still need to fine tune the camber/toe angle (only got a height adjust. suspension on there atm).
 
I bought the GT40 earlier, it's a fantastic car!

My R32 is a stable machine but it has front tire wear issues. Though that might be because I'm not really a massively conservative driver and just charge forward a lot of the time. It's possible to swing the rear out though by flooring it at the exit of a slow/mid speed corner.

When you come out of a turn and you're straightening it out... does it fishtail so that you have to baby it to settle it back down? (I have associated skylines with that problem!)
And... when you say you wear the front tires out maybe because you're not conservative... Do you mean because you tend to brake hard, & transfer the weight forward a bit too often?

The reason I ask is because I don't usually have a problem braking too hard. And I'm not generally too bad with the throttle either.
But I'm not so good with dealing with fishtailing out of a turn & having to work hard to settle it down. (And I find that with some cars, it's hard to tune that out.)

Or do you mean it wears the front tires... in the same way the BMW M Coupe wears front tires for no explicable reason... even though it's RWD.
 
Are Nismos, Mines etc allowed? Apologies in advance if that is a silly question, but these cars were actually produced and sold - not prototypes nor SEMA show car one-offs...

Right, tuner specials are permitted as long as they were produced in some number and sold to the general public (or later became available to the public through private sale). We might have to do a little bit of homework for this.

As for pictures from Le Mans, we'll have to see. I didn't take my camera, but a friend did and always takes loads, so we'll have to wait until he posts a selection.

Casual racing lobby will be up tonight at 8.

I think I've settled on just sticking with the 135i, because hey, I might not be the fastest or most stable out there on the track... But after trying car after car, I've come to the conclusion that I actually LIKE driving the 135i. And I think I am improving, though I need to work on the fine tuning & practice, with the new restrictions.
 
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to pull out of here, guys.

I've been really busy, both irl and with other series right now, and I think the WSGTC and this are going to clash for me, so I wont be able to make very many races here.

Melon, hey, we do this purely for fun. :) Whichever car is the most fun to drive, is the best.

Mule, sorry to hear that, but yeah, c'est la vie - no problem. Stay in touch though for future events, you never know!

The 135i is definitely fun. Much more fun than I'd expected. I'd overlooked it, until it was recommended to me here.
It seems to be right in the middle... It's more responsive than the Evos & Skylines... but not so unforgiving as the Jaguar, CSL, or Monaro.

Oh, and depending on what happens with my schedule in future... I may miss some of or several races in the series. It may be unavoidable. Things happen. But I don't care, I want to just plan on hitting as many as possible. Because I don't care if I come behind in points, or finish last even most of the time... I'm just thrilled to find any NON race car NON sports car races to be welcomed into. I like racing the road cars, full stop.

And I like the fact that in the races I've been involved with, with this group... No one ever gives up out the back of the grid... Indeed, many times people left behind in last, manage to work up positions by the end of the race. That's really cool. Because I'm just not so experienced to fight for 1st place... but I like the action wherever it is in the leaderboard order.
That race on Le Mans in the dark where zwyatt worked his way up from way out behind, & gained a few positions, was just amazing.
