The Links have been recorded by Hammond and May for the last few episodes of the last series, they will air as two specials later in the summer....according to today's Sunday Mirror, who also say that they have rejected the bumper pay deal offered by the Beeb....

umm if it's on the bbc I dont see how I wont be able to watch these since I always watch the UK version.

The translate version just dont do the trick for me.

Hard for the BBC not to pick an obvious car enthusiast who's already on their payroll. And while I'm not terribly chuffed about it, it's no worse than seeing the least enthusiastic member of the previous lineup make a return in any capacity. Though that does also hinge on who they rope in to fill the role of supporting duo.

They'll have a hard time finding favour with fans of the outgoing TG incarnation at this rate.

Could they not have found anyone else at the BBC who had some sort of car interest? I know its kind of important but as TG is now pretty much an entertainment show, car knowledge really is more of a optional ability rather than a requirement.

Alexander Armstrong would have been a good BBC employee shout. He's certainly good on Have I Got News For You.

I was more partial to having a new totally line-up of unknowns, I reckon that would have worked better. It might well be that the other two are totally new.
 
Chris Evans should immediately turn his hand to unfinished TG business. The P1/LaF/918 race springs to mind - but I think the very first thing he should do is try to drive a jet car in a straight line at 300mph.

Coogan springs to mind, of course. Though I've always struggled to imagine him in a leading role. I wouldn't be averse to seeing him fill Hammond's or May's shoes if it comes to it.

Hopefully what we'll hear will be "James May to act as second presenter, Clarkson to return in 2017 when he's had some time on the naughty step to learn his lesson."

But seriously, I'll wait until it's a thing to pass judgement.
